    Thank you Dr Berry, I had no idea and was taking ibuprofen for years for all sorts of pain, then I got cediff, in the hospital for a week, not one Dr while I was in the hospital said stop using it!! So I took it once I got home, got soo sick, researched cdiff & first thing it says DON'T take ibuprofen!!! The medical community has failed us miserably

      I got Cdiff too but my GI did tell me to quit taking it! He was a little younger and very open to even listening to all my research on the matter. But most doctors who have been around for a while don’t take into account any newer research!

      My c.diff was triggered by 2 consecutive rounds of doxycycline for a needed root canal. Thankfully it's never come back but dropping 45 lb in a month and developing central serrous retinopathy on vancomycin for the cdiff wasn't fun.

    Thank you Dr Berry for your transparency. I am a 42 wife and mother of 2. We educate them in our home. I experience the grieving symptoms of a rare neuromuscular disease. It is genetic with mutations on several gene strands. My doctor who me I’d seen since in HS put me on so many medications over the years, but at one point I was on 6 drugs, meloxicam being one of them plus I would pop 4 alieve daily. My doctor knew this. I experienced many of the symptoms you speak of. My vitamin D was a whopping 4. Fast forward I am in a new private office. We have real conversations and it has been so freeing to take back control of my health. I can’t change the weakness, spasming which is so intense at times I vomit. Then when a periodic paralysis episode triggers it becomes an entirely different thing. Began going off meds slowly. I did not need them and they were causing other conditions. Began Keto and I’m down 52 lbs from July 11th. Prior to that I had lost 36lbs so I have lost 88 lbs since 2018. Stick with it. I can’t change the past but I can make changes to better my health now. Thank you Dr Berry for sharing the truth.

    A sports medicine specialist told me I could take double doses of daily celecoxib for arthritis knee pain, so I did. For 20 years. It caused massive calcification of my heart and exacerbated liver dysfunction. Since I quit eating carbs, my inflammation has faded away. I'm hoping it will help heal my heart as well.

      HAVE YOU TRIED CBD???
      Joking, joking. It's pretty infuriating sometimes being a chronic pain patient and people think they're being helpful by suggesting CBD, tai chi and sprinkling extra tumeric* on your food when it's like...I have uncontrolled inflammatory arthritis and damage to the very upper part of the spinal cord that affects how I perceive pain, as well as multiple disc bulges compressing the spinal canal and impinging on nerve roots. I have anaphylaxis to all NSAIDs now after years of hoofing them to deal with the pain. It's...extremely odd to say the least that in all these videos, nobody in the comments wants to admit that sometimes opioids ARE the answer
      *as the active anti inflammatory part of curcumin does not cross the blood brain barrier, it needs to be in a liposomal format to actually do anything

      Try curcumin the active ingredient in turmeric, it’s a wonderful natural anti-inflammatory. Also change diet to healthy low carb - cut out all grains, sugar, seed/veg oils (highly inflammatory) and processed foods and eat more protein, fibre and good fats from grass fed animal products. RA can be managed without rx drugs.

Eventually my luck ran out with these pills I started hemorrhaging and had five pints of blood/blood transfusion due to five bleeding ulcers from taking NSAIDs for years. After my surgery of cauterizing all the ulcers to stop the bleeding he told me no more NSAIDs Ever again. He said my only friend is Tylenol arthritis and take no more than recommended. Healing Cascade. So important and most folks have no idea (not their fault). We learned about this when I was studying massage therapy. NSAIDs also are not good for the pain/spasm cycle. Treat the issue not the symptom. I used to get regular unexplained headaches that I would suffer through without taking anything unless they got to the point where I had to go lay down in a dark room and sleep for a day. However, since I started Keto about 2.5 years ago, and now leaning even more Keto-vore this last year, those headaches are just about a thing of the past. Now if I get a headache it is due to an overuse issue most likely (shoulder/neck). Thanks for the solid info Dr Berry.

In addition I was becoming unable to eat my usual amount of food. I almost chose to not go to the doctor about it thinking it was just the fibro. He sent me for some tests including a liver assessment. I got a call from him later that evening asking me to stop taking all my medications and go for another liver assessment. The initial test result was 700 the second was nearly that high. I was sent to a hospital in Philadelphia and their diagnosis was chemical hepatitis. Sorry, but my choice is taking my every other day NSAID or being non-functional from pain. I AM healing from going carnivore and look forward to stopping it when the pain is more tolerable. I did stop it for a few months, but had to start again because my fibromyalgia ramped up to non-functional levels again. I'm also going to push back a little on allowing severe inflammation to continue. I've seen the damage that causes, too. Mitigating the inflammation so that the body can use it for healing is a better approach, especially if you can do that through more natural means.

    Hi Dr. Berry!
    Until 5 days ago, I was a proud pill free person. Only if the pain was excruciating and interfered with my ability to function would I take an Advil. (About 3 - 5 pills every 20 years.)
    8 years ago I took an interest in food and boycott foods with paragraphs of unpronounceable ingredients. 4 years ago I started a meat based, grain free, low carb, high fat diet and lost 60 lbs. No more arthritic pain, diabetic procedures, sleep apnea, warts, chronic stomach cramps, brain fog and the list of health benefits goes on. I felt as if I found the fountain of youth.
    5 Days ago I was in unbearable pain from elbow to elbow, through my triceps, across my chest, collar to diaphragm. I couldn’t find a comfortable position or massage it out. So, I took an Advil to no avail. “Call 911.” On the operating table I was informed that I was having a heart attack. Before an hour from the 911 call, there were two heart stents installed in one of my pulmonary arteries.
    Now, I have a pharmacy of unpronounceable medicine that I’m to take every day: ASA, Bisoprolol Fumarate, Pantoprazple Sod EC, Ticagrelor, Perindopril Erbumine, and Atrovastatin.
    And I come across this presentation of how daily ASA is not wise. I just want to cry.
    I’m a long time subscriber of your channel and hope to be a long time subscriber for years to come. I respect what you say, but where do I go from here? How can I become a proud survivor? I’m only 69.

    A few years back I injured my lower back and was in severe pain. The closest similar pain I've experienced was when I had a nerve in a tooth die. The pain was so bad I could only work for a couple of hours each day before I could hardly function. Of course, I was taking Ibuprofen and aspirin and taking a lot of them. Then I got a cold and took my usual dose of bedtime Nyquil. The end result was a nosebleed that wouldn't quit. It went on for four hours as a steady drip, drip, drip. Eventually, I just stretched out on the floor with a coffee cup under my nose while I read "The Ponder Heart' and dripped into the cup. It was nearly full before the nose bleed quit. After that I quit all of the pain relievers and when I had a headache I simply drank a cup of espresso and waited for it to go away.
    Oddly, the back pain which had been with me for months went away after 4 nights of sleeping on the floor with an electric heater blowing on my back and it hasn't been back. A friend of mine injured his back in much the same way and in the same area and he had surgery. It mostly fixed his back but he is still taking pain meds to "manage" it.
    Oh-I also finished the book about the time the nose bleed stopped.

    From 2016 to 2019, I was taking Naproxen daily (in addition to other medications) for my Ankylosing Spondylitis. In the final year I struggled daily to reduce my Naproxen dose and wean off it completely. It took years afterwards for my anemia, GI issues, diarhea and heart palpitations to resolve. All that time, I've been gradually learning to eat a proper human diet, and it's been greatly beneficial, especially for GI issues.
    I understand that inflammation is part of the healing process, but are there times you would want to limit the inflammatory response when it's autoimmune/chronic? My rheumatologist told me to watch for swelling (ex. most common for me is dactylitis in my toes) because this is when the joint damage is occuring. I have hammer toe deformity from some bad flareups and sclerosis of the SI joint, which I'm afraid will lead to fusion of the joint.

    • @mamashiraz
      @mamashiraz 2 года назад +2

      Hi! I have 4 autoimmune disorders including AS. The rheumatologist put me on prednisone to reduce the inflammation (symptom) at the same time as the DMARD (treats the cause). I was told to stop taking daily 500mg naproxen! It wasn’t really helping at that point…didn’t even take the edge off.
      In the case of AI disorders, effective treatment of the cause of inflammation is expected to relieve pain as well as future damage but it takes time to find the “sweet spot” with the DMARDS, methotrexate and/or biologics.
      There’s not much we can take for pain outside of narcs and that’s a whole other situation. There is medical marijuana available in some states. And there’s also LDN (low dose naltrexone). Despite having strong evidence that it helps, doctors won’t prescribe and insurance won’t pay (at least in NY). It’s ridiculous that only the rich can access good care (“wellness clinics” are giving it to their private pay patients!!).

    Back when I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in the 90s, ibuprofen was known as "Vitamin I". I knew back then that Ibuprofen was a dangerous drug to take because of the damage it does to the esophagus. I only take naproxen sodium or ibuprofen if I have the occasional rare headache. I don't take them for a sprain or other body ache. I possibly took it twice while on the AT. Then, recently, my best friend passed away from kidney failure. In talking with his brother, I found out he took large doses of ibuprofen to help him do his labor intensive job for several years. I wish I had known so I could have told him to stop. Thank you Dr. Berry for getting this message out. It will save lives. I was in a bad car accident and have severe back damage (neck to tail bone!) My doctor has prescribed 800 mg of ibuprofen twice a day. Sometimes, when I have spasms, I need more (much more!) than that. I've recently moved to a more ketogenic diet and lowered my a1c from 7.5 to 5.9. However, I have been diagnosed with an inflamed gall bladder. They want to remove it. I am 73 years old. I love bacon, I love butter, but I've cut back substantially on those in order to prevent spasms due to gall bladder attacks and have moved to an almost exclusively carnnivore diet with some leafy greens. I would prefer not to have the surgery, but the pain is often so great that it might be a relief. Kidney levels, liver levels, even cholesterol levels all seem within normal range. I try to keep my fat grams below 60 and my daily carbs below 50 grams. Any ideas about 1) should I avoid gall bladder removal and how do I do that? and 2) could you recommend a list of supplements? I took ibuprofen for years for migraine. A few years ago i developed a severe allergy to it and other nsaids including aspirin. My throat closes up and i get severely congested. Thought i was just chronically sick, but after stopping it a few years and tested it again recently, it was worse with just one 200 mg tablet. Have been carnivore since march of this year and have relieved my migraine issues.

    I have had arthritis in the knees from age 5 to 47. That is when I found out I was gluten intolerant. While most symptoms disappeared in a few weeks, it was about 3 months before the arthritis completely healed. A trace and it is back with other symptoms for a week.
    Thankfully I have always had a bit of a Detroit of medications and only use them for the worse pains. I always have pain meds in the house. I but the smallest and have had them expire before ever being opened.
    I also had degenerative bone disease diagnosed at 42. Healed by 52 by a low carb, butter filled diet. But for years every step was painful, but I still avoided pain meds.
    I have been told I was crazy not to take the meds. Guess I was right.

    WOW! I was taking an NSAID on the regular for ankle pain. I landed in the hospital in April of this year with a BP on 246/201. My iron level was extremely low and I has double vision in my left eye. I'm never taking any NSAID again.

    Would more frequent cortisone shots be healthier than increased nsaids?

    • @LiberLady
      @LiberLady 2 года назад +1

      No, cortisone (and other types of steroids) suppress the immune system & interfere with adrenal function!
