A Cocktail Perfect for Dessert!

Today we are doing a classic cocktail called the Brandy Alexander. Its predecessor, the Alexander or Alexander No.1 cocktail, was invented by Troy Alexander who was a bartender at the Rector Hotel in New York(early 1900s). His cocktail was a combination of heavy cream, gin, and creme de cacao. Later on, someone substituted the gin for Brandy and the instant classic, The Brandy Alexander was born. Unfortunately, we may never know who that person is. This cocktail is more of a rich and creamy dessert cocktail and it is perfect for afternoons by the fireplace during cold weather. It has heavy notes of dark chocolate and vanilla coupled with notes of complexity from the cognac. The cream also offers a rich and silky texture to the cocktail.
Brandy Alexander
1oz Heavy Cream
1oz Dark Creme De Cacao(Tempus Fugit)
1.5oz Cognac/Brandy(Pierre Ferrand Amber)
Build ingredients in a shaker tin. Shake vigorously with three large ice cubes to mix and chill ingredients. Then double strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a small amount of fresh grated nutmeg.
