I was happy to get 21 minutes of flight time with the first attempt and was surprised that I could cruise around at 15-18amps easily.
I covered approximately 16km in total and now I have a Gps will be able to record a lot more data.
The batteries last well and the only caveat is that you need to land before they get to 11v as there is a quick depletion of volts after that.
I used Sony 18650 and the specs are below
AUW: 819 grams
2x4s packs weight is 419 grams
VTC6 Battery Specs:
Nominal Capacity: 3120mAh.
Rated Capacity: 3000mAh.
Max Continuous Discharge 30A
Nominal Voltage: 3.6V/3.7V.
Full charge Voltage: 4.2V.
Internal Impedance 13 mΩ measured by AC 1kHz.
Diameter 18.45mm max +/- 0.05mm.

I am not sure if you did this on purpose or not, but worth mentioning is the test area providing an element of safety should things go wrong. Being able to land on the sand at any point along the way with landmarks and a narrow width of beach would make for an easy pick up by just walking. Next challenge for you is to come to Queenscliff and do a flight over popes eye. It would be a 10 on the cool o meter. Another aspect often overlooked with RC is the RF noise floor created by commercial and domestic WiFi. I monitor error rates on my TX all the time now to keep my planes safe. Yeah RF noise was definitely in play and have had Rssi drops in the same place before. Now I know the limits of this setup I’m definitely heading out to your neck of the woods 😀

I have been flying disposable vape pen lion batteries on my 4" Geprc baby croc. Good vid!
If you are interested in a data point, I recently built a 680kv 3115 motored 12inch build running a pair of 6s4p packs for 12000mah. Flying a fair bit harder than your flight I have hit 17 minutes flying from 4.2v down to 3.6v(came up to 3.7v after an hour resting). Guessing I will be seeing 25+ minute flight times.
One of my 6s2p packs on my 7inch with 1300kv 2806.5 motors is able to hit 23minutes cruising at 40mph the entire time and lamding at 3v per cell.
6s2p helps drive the amp draw down even more versus the 4s2p configuration.

Gathering all the data I can... Question please; on punch or throttle burst, do you notice any type of battery sag or rapid drainage? Just something I heard to look out for. In the future I may consider other missions. But, for now, I'm looking for slow mountain surfing...

If you run two packs in parallel, you're adding the amp rating for both packs, so, your max should be about 60A. You should build a pack in parallel series. 2 batteries in parallel, wired the same way as the series, but with two batteries for each cell. This will save you the weight of double connectors and wires.
Those batteries are more 15-20 amp range on each cell. Go for the Samsung 30t and 40t to get 30 amp range on each cell.
Please search (Brand) 18650 data sheet before attempting any projects 3v serious drop off @ 20A current not to be rude was awesome flight

I am thinking of building an endurance 2S Li-ion 3 inch Cinewhoop (w. ducted props) and DJI Digital FPV System. Do you think its duable? What flight times should I expect? I will not be using a GoPro, just the flight camera. I want to use this build for filming and long range.

Yeah I carried a GoPro for the filming. So this is including everything for this type of range

Is the Nominal Voltage the same thing as the Storage Voltage? And if 16.8 Volts is the entire pack around what voltage should the drone be landed with these batteries?
I know you said before 11V but that seems kind of low having in mind the prolonged, healthy life of a battery.
I am new and looking up things here and now. The only thing that puts me off on FPV is the short flight time but if I can execute this correctly I'm sold.

At present iam using lipo 2200 mah it gives me a flight time of 5 min when I attach my mobile phone to record video without gimbal totally I think it draws 40amp
Can u pls say which Li ion cells do I use and in which configration
So that I can get flight time of more than 18 mins
Smart looking quad. Do you find 7" is too big and unwieldly to carry around with you on trips?
Thirty-six 21700's in my refrigerator waiting to be soldered up into 6s/4s/2s packs.
Soldering with a new TS100 seems like it might be more forgiving than my handheld trigger gun spot welder which I've never used before.
Try and avoid landing in sand and dirt, some of it has iron content in it and will stick inside your motor bell housing to the magnets.

7” is good size for long range and lots of people use this setup. Might try 21700’s one day as well on 6s 👍🏾😊
5600 Mah used.... That's great considering how light the 18650's are mate.... What type did you use ? Panasonic ? What was that RSSI drop out all about... Did that scare you ? A little ? haha So that was 4S2P ? Great idea as I have heaps of 18650's lying around, and a guy in Box Hill selling genuinbe Panasonic's real cheap :)

Using the words "long range" doesn't mean anything without distance in real meters .... one way .... or go and come back ? What is the max distance the receiver in the drone does pick up the signal of the used remote control transmitter ? What type of drone is it ? A self assembled drone ?
It’s a self built customized drone. It has crossfire system that has a range of approx 5-10km on my setup

Yeah definitely have to below 3.3v but great flight time gains. Scary at below 2.5v 😆

hello, i made a similar 4S4P battery pack , but somehow it will only fly for like 2 minutes before it comes down, and again it will fly but suddenly out of nowhere the battery stops outputting current and drone drops but i am again able to arm it and fly normally for more 2 mins, this happens many times until battery drains out !! do u know why that is happening?
Sounds like the cells are bad and not genuine Sony or Samsung batteries maybe.

Yes but C rating are for low speed and no fast bashing. 6s would give better performance for cars

hello, I have a question for you if that is okay. I see that you have 8 batteries, is that the equivalent of 4 cells? or how does it work...? i'm trying to build a 7 inch drone and am curious as to how many LiIon batteries I need to equivalate to a 6s lipo
Was running two 4s packs to double mah to 6000mah. 6s will be 6 cells in series.

Yes but need to keep amps as low as possible. Use 4s or 6s higher voltage to keep amps low as 18650’s max out at 20amps with short bursts of 30 amps.

Hello , Nice job on the battery, i have 1 , build by me 4s 3000mah. As soon i start the drone , it Pops on the googles the low bat msg. At 13.9v . Can i fly with just 1 bat , what is the minimum voltage i should land with just 1 pack? 10v?
Land at 11v ad change settings in beta flight so low batt message comes up at 11v
You can fly with 1 battery but in parallel it increased amps you can fly at.

im building near similar setup using the 3000mah 18650 3s for my small drone and 6s 6000mah for my large drone , how do I know when to set the voltage alarm to to compensate for the voltage sag. ? atleast giving me 2min-3min remaining flight
I’d set it at 3v and land definitely by 2.7v lowest to avoid the sag 👍🏾 Good luck 😊

Genuine Lithium Ions are limited by amperage so connecting them in series and parallel increases amps to 60amp burst which allows just a little acro. Lipo’s are much more powerful of course but by the cost of flight time. Thanks for the sub 👍🏾

You know you probably killed your battery capacity when you hit lower than 2.8 v per cell! Now it will not charge 100% capacity!
Bullshit. Vapers hit 2.5 all the time.
Batteries were fine. 2.5 is my max to discharge but when you hit 2.7-8 there is a considerable drop in power so stay above with multi rotors 👍🏾
Once it hits 2.8v or lower it will degrade your batteries fast and they will not charge to 4.2 agian you will only get 4.0 mabe 4.1 so ya never go under 3.0v
as we use three mobile battery to make 3s battery for RC jet but different mah e.g. 3000 2000 and 1080 can use ..plz reply me.

Yeah definitely have to be careful of copies. These were genuine and peaked at 30amps for a few seconds 🙂👍🏾
@@WigganRC no you don't understand the vtc6 is a 20 Amp cell. Despite all facts the discharge is 20 amps for the nominal tests. The 30 Amp discharge should only be done with temp control since the cell will go up to 80 degree c under this condition
