Big Al, I had a 06 SRX, had the jack box filled with water also. It all or some of these issues: pull the hatch seal off, reseal, you'll find some joints that don't fit correctly, silicone caulk. At the top by the hatch hinges, the welds have some pin holes, silicone caulk the areas on both sides where the quarter panels meet the roof panel. I also added a 90 degree joint to the rear sun roof drains about 2/3 up the inside of the hatch so the drain water goes down. Did all of them and bleached the drains and no more leaks.
What a gem that is Al, it looks brand new underneath. I love finding old low mileage gems like that. Its a great feeling having something that no one else has. & sometimes it doesnt have to cost the earth. I get so much pleasure from returning those types of cars back to showroom condition. Keep in mind I bid on dozens of cars every week and only once in a while do I win and get a deal. I’d say it’s the same everywhere else; you just have to play always and often in order to win.
Gosh that poor truck (for only having 12,000 miles and having the issues it had) it seems like nobody wanted grandmas SRX so they parked it and when it was time to get it back on the road, it was too much for them to handle? I don’t know. Definitely strange to have such low miles and caked up sunroof drains. I saw the Low Miles post on FB but wasn’t sure if there was gonna be a video about this one too. Happy to see where it started and how far it’s came! Also Sunset Blue is an extremely nice color and was only available 2007 & 2008 making it also somewhat rare these days. Obviously Cashmere interior but the star of the show here is that Sunset Blue paint.
Maybe use an Ozone machine to help get rid of the smell, and help with the mold. Ozone will not kill the mold, but it will fix the smell, and if you get rid of the mild by cleaning and removing the mold, it should be good to go! Nice find.
Hey big AL ! I like them Cadillac SRX . Are you going to get the Cadillac Allante off Randy ??. Hopefully you due & save it. I like them older Cadillac's. Make sure the roof drains are clear & give it a big AL special cleaning lol. Salute 😎 appreciate the cool content bro. 🚘🔥🔥👍

Big Al - it has been my experience owning a car with a sunroof that if the drain holes are Plugged or the Sunroof is not completely closed water with enter the cabin and soak the interior including the trunk. I experienced this first hand and had the situation (sunroof and drain tubes) corrected immediately. Living in Florida with the high humidity levels Combined with a leaky sunroof with definitely lead to a saturated interior resulting in mold spores throughout the entire vehicle’s interior.
That’s how the sunroof in my Saturn did. The drains clogged and it would leak and fill the floor, soak the seats, and the headliner. One of them the tube had come out of the drain the others were clogged. Removed the drains flushed them out removed the grommets from the frame and snipped the opening bigger and it’s never leaked again
Who would start parking a 12K Caddy SRX *outside in the Florida sun?* Having an owner who treats a car right makes all the difference. I've seen people pay top dollar for *pristine old cars* and then destroy them inside of a year because they are automotive numbskulls who have absolutely no idea what keeps a car going.
Big Al, did you see that Nor"easter our friends got? They were this close to getting through a Winter without much snow, but it got them at the very end. Got to love living in Miami.
Here we go again, literally to the 1% who's reading this, God bless you, and may your dreams come true, stay safe and have a wonderful and blessed day.😇
I have an 08 V8 AWD, silver on black. Ours has the updated Cadillac steering wheel being an 08. I like the gauges on the 07+. They pulled them from the 2005 STS. They look clean and premium to me. Anyway, it is a loaded Sport package, Ultraview Plus like this one, heated steering wheel (still works!!), but also has the towing package and even a block heater. 161k on it. We bought it in 2015 with 91k on it. It's been a good family car until recently where it has needed a lot more maintenance. Original transmission and engine. We started parking it outside and the third row storage area flooded like this one did. I caulked under the weatherstrip at the bottom but according to a comment in here I need to pull the whole seal and caulk the perimeter. Fun fact: All Sport package SRXs came with the base FE1 suspension. The rear shocks are Sachs Nivomat mechanical automatic load leveling and they work amazingly well (they are original actually). It could use a set of front shocks though. And anti-roll bar bushings (they clunk and replacement is a PITA). Fun fact 2: This is based on the Sigma platform, shared with the CTS and STS. The 2004 SRX actually donated its entire drivetrain to the 2005 STS. The SRX and STS share an extended wheelbase. The CTS was shorter. When you look at the SRX subframes, you'll see that it essentially has a body lift. On the Sport package 20" wheels, the whole tire is a larger diameter than the base wheel/tire package. It looks good but probably at the expense of handling.
I forgot to mention that I owned a 2005 CTS-V for 11 years and also owned a 2005 STS V8 AWD. I have owned all three Sigma platform vehicles. Owning the STS caused me to make a leap to Mercedes and I am quite happy so far (04 E55 AMG now totaled and 07 S550 daily which is excellent).
Keep the oil changed every 4-5k miles max with full synthetic from the Cadillac dealership! I learned the hard way with my 09 SRX (timing chain). Those 3.6L V6's do not tolerate late oil changes or cheap/recycled oil from quick lube oil change places.
I remember that color it was like a pearl grey-blue. Those pano-roofs can leak through the interior trim if the drains get disconnected. Had that happen to my G6 with the pano.
This was an awesome buy I just bought a 06 srx and the catalytic converter are bad I have the 4.6l though with 139200 miles. I can't wait to see the end product
dang they smashed your mufflers with the fork lift 😒 it happens but it sucks. also like how they glued the cadillac emblem on the steering wheel. I need to guy for installing badges on my rebuilds 🤣
I really like the Cadillac badge in the pinstriping on the front fenders. Do you have any concerns about mold being under the dash or in the duct work where you can't access it to clean?
Let me get this straight. The insurance company paid out $13,000 for this truck instead of $300 for a full detail. That makes sense. Also, since when does an insurance company pay for a dirty interior?
All the time! From the insurance company/car owner’s perspective, the car is now damaged. Mold could get into places that cannot be reached without a very expensive full interior strip down at a shop. Carpets could be permanently soiled from the rust staining and need replacing, potential rust under the carpets, etc.
A Volvo my parents owned when I was a kid got totaled out because a cat had lived in it during a hot summer weekend and left the interior absolutely REEKING of cat piss and shit. A few detailers couldn't quite get the smell out so insurance totaled it. It was an otherwise perfectly good running and driving car.
