Love that you guys kept the motif
it fits with the narrative as well. The real Cortana realized how huge mistake she has done and almost let Banished activate the ring and that is when she snaps back and decides to help Chief and sacrifice herself, relying on him to finish the fight afterwards.

This song perfectly expresses the Chief's pain. Losing Cortana hurt him far deeper then he was willing to show. He was so hurt that he took it out on the Weapon. All because she looked like Cortana and was a constant reminder of his failure to keep his promise to her.
Not just looked like her (you probably meant this but just in case you didn’t know and also if you don’t then spoiler i guess) she was a clone of Cortana, an exact copy because that was the only way to beat evil crazy Cortana
@@CheetoLord452 That is exactly what I was referring to. Her existence just made him mad as it was a reminder he didn't want, but he had to deal with as the original needed to be taken out. I think Weapon's willingness to delete herself after finding out the truth about her origins made Chief see that she wasn't just a copy. That she was her own person, and his anger was misplaced. The fact that he lets her pick her own name (I think she uses the same poem Cortana did to pick her name, and I think she named herself Joyce) shows that even if he doesn't 100% trust her yet, he sees her as her own person.

The JT guys do a large variety of styles, always have and always will. Not everything will be your cup of tea. That's kinda the nature of rap, and music in general.

I don't mean to be "that guy", but what deep lore? All the lore in this song was directly from the games, and not even the terminals. It's all stuff every fan of the series of almost any level will pick up on, but that's honestly for the best in a fan song like this where you don't want to be dropping references that only a tiny portion of listeners will appreciate

Well the idea is that from combat evolved chief had to be careful, dying was not an option, getting damaged was not an option, cortana was always there and she was top priority. Now that she's gone there's nothing left to tame the beast that is chief
Now that Cortana is gone, Chief won’t hold back, even if he has to die he’ll still keep fighting on

@@livkerstain3470 same, Heroic felt almost like Legendary in older games. I died a ton in this game. Never frustrated at unfair difficulty however. Every time I died it was my fault and I felt that. Each encounter is masterfully tuned, even in the open world.

Chief must've had a REAL CLOSE connection to Cortana. It's like that thing with Bambi and his mother. Both of these relationships were REALLY CLOSE, and losing that must've broken them.

Wow. . . There's that moment where you have a really close relationship with someone, that when you lose it, you really don't want to let go of that. And to call THAT love, is just . . . really heartbreaking. Again, this is a lot like Bambi and Littlefoot, but also Simba, with their parents-- whether it be Bambi's mom, Littlefoot's mom, and Simba's dad.
Cortana helped Chief save the Galaxy multiple times, and even shared space in his mind with the cranial implants the SPARTAN-IIs use. She might be the only person closer to John-117 than BLUE Team, or even the SPARTAN's creator, Dr. Catherine Halsey.
There's a quietly brutal scene at the end of Halo IV, where Chief is trying to process the loss of Cortana, and...he really doesn't know what to do. If you're familiar with the background lore of the Halo-verse in general, and John-117 history with Cortana in particular, it's especially painful.

I'm having a great time with it. The Grappleshot is an excellent addition to the MJOLNIR armor, both as a way of getting around and as a weapon.

That line "i am lost without you" is beautiful
The words "I'll give up on the world before I'm giving up on you" is the best way to describe Cortana's relationship with chief having gone through all of the games. Cortana always saw herself as an equal or better to chief. Then her imprisonment with the grave mind really began to shift her perspective to help her realize just how much she needed John's help to even be free. She was unable to free herself from the grave mind's grasp. Then after waiting for years for rescue, she really began to see Chief as not only the savior of humanity, but her own personal savior. Then, at the end of 4 she sacrificed herself because she wanted to save him from a place of selfless love. Then in 5 she felt like she was once again better than chief and could in fact save humanity on her own without the need of human assistance. Her conversation with Chief in that game really shows just how much she didn't respect him anymore by refusing to even listen to his perspective. Then, prior to infinite, she is shown the failure of her hubris and reminded of her need for chief and maybe even her love, which is why she gives up on all of her personal plans and or hopes from survival by placing every last hope in chief with the weapon.
i don't even play halo but this has to be one of the best songs i have ever heard, the acoustics are amazing as well
