The words "I'll give up on the world before I'm giving up on you" is the best way to describe Cortana's relationship with chief having gone through all of the games. Cortana always saw herself as an equal or better to chief. Then her imprisonment with the grave mind really began to shift her perspective to help her realize just how much she needed John's help to even be free. She was unable to free herself from the grave mind's grasp. Then after waiting for years for rescue, she really began to see Chief as not only the savior of humanity, but her own personal savior. Then, at the end of 4 she sacrificed herself because she wanted to save him from a place of selfless love. Then in 5 she felt like she was once again better than chief and could in fact save humanity on her own without the need of human assistance. Her conversation with Chief in that game really shows just how much she didn't respect him anymore by refusing to even listen to his perspective. Then, prior to infinite, she is shown the failure of her hubris and reminded of her need for chief and maybe even her love, which is why she gives up on all of her personal plans and or hopes from survival by placing every last hope in chief with the weapon.
"I've lost Cortana, just gotta live up to my name when I'm taking her back" "I am lost without you You're the light always shining through You're my luck and my truth I'll give up on the world before I'm giving up on you" (If I'm not keepin' her) Give up on the world before I'm giving up on you (Then I don't need the world) 'Cuz all of it's worth giving up long as I got you" This is getting me teary-eyed. "You picked me up when I fell down You gave me hope where none was found There comes a time when to love is to let go Then I can't call it love, because I won't" Wow. . . There's that moment where you have a really close relationship with someone, that when you lose it, you really don't want to let go of that. And to call THAT love, is just . . . really heartbreaking. Again, this is a lot like Bambi and Littlefoot, but also Simba, with their parents-- whether it be Bambi's mom, Littlefoot's mom, and Simba's dad.
Cortana helped Chief save the Galaxy multiple times, and even shared space in his mind with the cranial implants the SPARTAN-IIs use. She might be the only person closer to John-117 than BLUE Team, or even the SPARTAN's creator, Dr. Catherine Halsey. There's a quietly brutal scene at the end of Halo IV, where Chief is trying to process the loss of Cortana, and...he really doesn't know what to do. If you're familiar with the background lore of the Halo-verse in general, and John-117 history with Cortana in particular, it's especially painful.

3:38, after finishing the Halo Infinite campaign, this lyric really hits different
3:23 made me cry.
damn the line "There comes a time when to love is to let go, Then i can't call it love because i won't" i think it shows chief's devotion to her
As infinite approached my hype for the game was rivalled only by my hype for this inevitable rap. You guys nailed it, great work all round.
Tbh, the song is good for motivation
"see i never started a fire but i smothered a guilty spark" absolute fucking wordplay
I will state this EVERY song that Andrea has ever taken a part of was amazing and beautiful
This is the best song ever
I love this, anymore still listening when it was released
I played this over and over while playing halo infinite
The chorus made me cry man love it
1:26 that transition is so clean
"If you're new to battle than just call this a hazing, gimme just a pistol and Ill make it look amazing"
Call back to them Skullcruncher13 days, huh? Shit its been years.
So many references in the opening done so well
This song is just to good it wants to make me cry and also listening to this as well due to the problems halo Infinite is facing, this is indeed a Certified Halo Rap JT
I remember listening to your music when I was a kid and coming back and hearing “I need you more than ever chief, don’t make a promise you can’t keep” sent me back to being a kid hearing the og halo raps on my parents laptop. The nostalgia got me tearing up honestly. Really glad to see you’re still making music and how some of your songs have been popping off on other platforms
thanks for all you do! JT Music, you guys are amazing, love you
I also like how some of the verses relate to some of the halo books
The line of "if I'm not keeping her, I'll give up on the world" just shows the bond chief and cortana had
Dear skullkruncher13 thanks for years of memories
i feel like this fits Chief so well "i wasnt born into the god business, i earned it"
The bridge made me cry so much.
i don't even play halo but this has to be one of the best songs i have ever heard, the acoustics are amazing as well
Literly best song I've ever heard from both this channel or any other artist
It's funny, just yesterday when I was watching and enjoying the MCC Rap that I'd hope they'd do one for Halo Infinite real soon, and now here we are! Hallelujah!
I still like how this song gives Chief a very distinct personality, like much more cocky and energetic, but still gives him negative emotions, like grief and such. It also still kept his "liking" / "respect" for the UNSC since he is part of it
"Got the whole team mobbin' with the hog and we roll deep, hop in shizzle dawg! UNSC 'bout to kick it off, to infinity, maybe then beyond!"
DU
DU .
Every time Master Chief comes back, you can be sure these guys are following with a masterpiece.
I can honestly say that chorus hit home a lot harder than I could've expected.
The most beautiful song I've heard is "Angel by Your Side" and I now I hear another angelic song. Keep up the wonderous work.
“Master Chief, you mind telling me what you’re doing on that video?”
“Sir. Feeling.”
