I can relate to her precisely as my first goal in my job was to teach special education elementary students. I completed my BA before my epilepsy began with a TBI 4 months later. I learned German as well. But I can also do things like block puzzles. I have a hard time with math in my head. It’s amazing how common items within epilepsy can be, yet completely unrelated. An ER neurologist insisted I was only having anxiety since my seizures weren’t TC. I told him he should educate himself and left. I needed meds for my seizures. He gave me Klonopin. “Technically” it’s an anti seizure med, but not really.
I have different kinds of seizures, but I understand the frustration of being undiagnosed. I was diagnosed as a child with epilepsy, but I don’t have those records. Seizures returned as an adult in different form and since my eegs always come back normal, I do not have an official diagnosis. I am on seizure meds, but my doctor does not want to try another one because he cannot confirm these episodes as seizures. I cannot drive, sometimes lose ability to walk straight and talk coherently. Last visit I had one in the office and he said it didn’t look like a seizure. He suggested a movement disorder which is horrifying to me. It was suggested I see a psychologist.
I'm here for help concerning my 18 yr old non verbal autistic grandson with epilepsy. He currently has a awful cold and cough and I've been told no cough suppressants any thing that says DM lowers seizure threshold. What should I give him?
I’m proud of her for going through everything twice. 💜
