Wow,wow this has to be one of the very best recordings ever in country music history! These boys are as good as anyone who sang country music. Can listen to this song over and over again, fabulous!
Tompall, Jim and Chuck were the greatest trio ever. They had beautiful songs, you could understand every word, and their harmonies were breathtaking. I sure hope they somehow know that their fans loved them and play their songs still. R.I.P. fellas.
I have had the pleasure of seeing live performances from The Glazer Brothers many times. They were on the programme of artists who played at the Country & Western event over three days at Wembley Arena. I live in Scotland, but travelled to London every year to this amazing festival. So many fantastic memories come flooding backe when I hear anything from Tompall, Chuck and Jim. Amazing voices all of them. Such talent! I can never hear enough of the beautiful harmonies. LOVE THEM SO MUCH. XXXXXX
After having a serious Surgical Operation, I am laying here listening to The Glasers and watching Them on U-Tube.Thanks to you Sue.I love them so much, and they are a great help to me now.
The Glaser Bros. were in my opinion the greatest 3 part harmony to ever grace the OPRY stage. Beautiful music.Wish more groups tried to harmonize like this. EARL MOSNER CATONSVILLE-MD.
I absolutely agree with you. They have more than earned their place in the HOF.In all fairness, Tompall should have gone in last year with Cowboy Jack and Bare,
I been trying to find this song for 20 years.( before I had a computer.) Even had several professional D.J. stumped on it. They never heard of it. I had it on the juke box in Corpus Christi Texas around 1969--0r '70. You gotta listen closely to the words. Don't just listen to the beautiful steel work!! Profound is all I can say.
THESE brothers were and still are THE VERY BEST in Sibling Harmony. These guys should have won every HONOR AWARD out there.......I believe lousy representation and poor marketing lead to their limited popularity.....not in those days...these guys were the BEST and Still are in my OPINON....they don't make them like these brothers no more.....RIP TOMPALL, Prayers out to CHUCK and much Luck to Jim still singing out there. Love to all....KenOrlando, FL
They seemed hard to classify (like The Band); this is country, but they also hit folkish /Americana stuff that wasn't 'categorized' back then, and the harmony groups in country--like the Gatlins-- were exceptions. SO SAD. These guys deserved better. Even the Gatlin Bros broke up at some point. I don't get it.
The Gatllin Bros. were good but not as the Glaser Bros. My two boys went to the same school in Odessa Tx.as the Gatlin Bros. only much later than the Gatlins.
The 1st time I ever heard these guys was on Hank Snows' Big Hits I Hadn't Recorded Until Now. It was recorded in 1960. They have been my favorite back up group ever since.
I was lucky enough to find this album recently on ebay. It is a FANTASTIC album and I can't understand why most of the cuts on there were not monster hits. The Glaser brothers, featuring the always amazing voice of Tompall. were simply the best ever. They will never be equaled in any genre of music.
great fantasic sweet memories playing the cassette tapes while driving around and home from diffrent countries too many to list thank for sharing with us all who appreciate good country music
Beautiful lyrics in this song.. Love the voices, and absolutely the steel work. not enough of it. Used to listen to it all night when I took care of a certain place in Corpus Christi.
Seen them at Gilley,s in the 80,s,watched them stick there toes out over the stage, the battle was on,such harmony I have never heard, Right place ,right time.
I am so envious of your experience, James. I simply adore Tompall and his brothers. Their sound will never be equaled in any genre of music. EVER! I listen to them every single day and just can't get enough. Being passed over year after year for the Hall of Fame is absurd to say the least. Maybe someday Nashville will get over itself and do the right thing. The real fans don't need Nashville to validate the Glasers, however Tompall, Chuck and Jim have more than earned their induction into the Hall. It's past time.
+linda donahue I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't get enough of these brothers. I listen to them every night and I'm sorry I didn't know about them sooner, found them by chance about 6 months ago. ♥
Dorothy Douglas Oh my gosh, Dorothy! You have a lot of catching up to do! What fun you will have doing it. I listen to them every single day: in my car, on my phone, in my home, on my laptop. I take Tompall with me everywhere I go! Here is the link to the petition to try and get them elected to the Hall of Fame. It's time! www.thepetitionsite.com/298/027/484/elect-the-glaser-brothers-to-the-country-music-hall-of-fame/
Yes, Dorothy. One vote per person. Thank you very much. We have a Facebook group for Tompall fans. It's a closed group but I'm inviting you to join if you like. If you have a Facebook page, just search The Great Tompall Appreciation Group. Request membership and I'll approve you. Lots of TO fans there. We call ourselves Tompallaholics. Would love to have you!
Try Amazon or purecountrymusic . Not everything is available on CD (it should be) but pretty much everything Tompall recorded solo is. Great stuff! Also just released 2 compilation CD's of the brothers. Price is good, Good luck.
Grweat song thanks fro posting this. Songs in a tribute to their uncles are sungs by the nephews of Tompall and the Glaser Brothers at The Brothers Glaser webstite; do a search for The Brothers Glaser on RUclips as well. Del3535
