In this video, I'll show you how you can layer sounds using the Zone section of the Sampler plugin. Layering is an important part of making beats and you can do it in several ways using the Maschine MK3 or Maschine Plus.
You can layer sounds using Link Groups. You can layer sounds by having the MIDI pattern be identical for two sounds. And the third technique, which I teach in this tutorial, is to use Zone to layer sounds.
You can layer claps, kick drums, create unique pad sounds, and much more. Utilize the sounds you have from Native Instruments to create layers, or use samples from other sources, such as Splice.
🚨🎓MASCHINE COURSE INFORMATION:🚨🎓
I tried my hardest to create the best resource to learn the Maschine MK3/ Maschine+ (Plus) and the Maschine 2 software. Here's the run-down:
- 106 lessons organized into 23 chapters
- 9+ hours of video material
- 1,000+ digital flashcards you can use to study
The course will go over a wide variety of topics and concepts and I will teach you everything I know about the Maschine controller and Maschine software. I hope this course can help you level up your Maschine skills.

Only the second video of yours that I've watched (back to back), and you've already got me re-thinking my maschine workflow and how I want to incorporate it with Push 3. I now feel that I can have them doing what they're each good at doing. Thanks again for a well taught demo/lesson.
Aye I'm glad it could help spark some ideas! I have the push 3 myself and after using it for a bit, I could also see what each was best at over time
The best Maschine tutorials ever! (after Boris Mezhva, of course)))
Thank you! Thats high praise. And yeah, Boris is by far the best! His 3 intro videos on the maschine mk3 taught me so much
It's exactly!)@@MusicMemor
@Music Memor (BxHill) , you are a Maschine Ninja , and we thank you......
Haha thank you 🙏
Thank you for including the hardware moves.
I have never even opened the zones function. I like this function as you explain it. Thank you.
You're welcome! Happy to help
Great tutorial 🔥 thanks for your time!
Thanks and you're welcome!
Good time of day. Please tell me how to use piano roll in car 2?
Hi - I am not understanding what you mean by "car 2"
i've been looking for something like this for so long. thank you.
Also, one question I had is, are you able to use sperate plugins for each different sound on the zone?
If so, this would be game changing but, so far I can't figure out a way to do so.
If i apply something like reverb to one sound in the zone, it applies to all other sounds in that zone as well.
Unfortunately, I don't think you can do that. In this situation, I would just layer two sounds using link groups. You could have one sound on a pad, where you can apply the reverb to that sound. Then have another sound on another pad. Set both of those pads to the same link group
@@MusicMemor Sounds good. it would be cool if you could do it using the zone method but links are pretty easy to use so ill stick to that. Only problem with links is that the amount of samples you can use are limited. But im looking forward to any other tips you may have in the future. Thanks for the advice and love the video.
@@duhsk3181 Yeah, that's true! And thanks!
Is there a way to offset the start of one of the layered sounds playing after the pad is hit like in MPC?
I tried to figure this out after reading your comment, but I haven't found a way to do so using "zone" in maschine. I'd probably do this manually by putting the same pattern on two different soundslots. Then offsetting one of them
