I am also totally hooked by that show. No, they haven't found anything significant, but they have found a lot of very interesting things, quite a bit of very compelling evidence, and a lot of things that make you ask more and more questions. Love it.

I love Rick, Marty AND the Oak Island show!
The brothers are hardworking, smart men that are NEVER rude!
The "host" is a good example of how to be rude and a bully!
I hope Rick and Marty find the treasure and it re-writes history more than it already has!

There is a difference between satire and being condescending, in this context. They took the time to be on this show and then are clearly disrespected from the intro song until they leave the stage. Bullying at its best...

I'm a huge fan of Stephen's but I was really put off by this interview. The show is actually fascinating and the history of this island is mind boggling. These guys have literally invested millions of their own money into the pursuit of finding something there. For whatever reason, it seemed like Stephen was mocking them throughout the discussion and really didn't want them there, despite his supposed interest. It felt hostile and uncomfortable, especially at the end. The least these guys deserve is some respect and it was lacking here. Such a shame.

    • @one23itsjustme
      @one23itsjustme 7 лет назад +2

I didn't think Stephen was treated them badly at all. They only have a few minutes to speak..I was disappointed that these guys were not prepared to answer the most basic questions about their show. When a question is "handed off" to another person, it looks as if one is unprepared to respond or will not put much thought into the response. They handed off responding at least TWICE and that in itself, looked bad. ~ At the very least I think Stephen was saying...you are spending a lot of money and time pursuing a treasure that might not exist.

He was laying out really basic questions, and they weren't anwering them well at all. I've been the interviewee on TV and radio for my job, and you need to have your message ready to go. They either didn't or were too nervous to follow Stephen (super obvious) lead.

I know because I thought I wouldn't but now I'm just waiting for every time it comes out. Just give it a chance!

yes it is a very interresting show ... at this point if they dont find any monetary stuff .. the best treasure has been all the information that has surfaced and been addressed along the way .. such as templar connections, mayan connections, pirate connections ... heck even muscle farming connections from the whole region ... That is the biggest treasure to date ... information that actually has answered some stories and brought about more questions in need of answering ... it builds on the history very nicely ... I persoanlly would love to see the time team gang get back together and do a few weekend shows over a summer and see what they dig up in the more out of the way bits as well.

The whole thing is that someone went through a lot of trouble to bury something and then prevent it from being retrieved by someone else. Apparently, the original builders haven't returned and it has naturally been thought that what was buried must be very valuable for someone to go through all that trouble.

You have to understand these guys are just normal dudes that the History channel approached to film them while they looked for treasure. They actually have been very reluctant to be on camera and now they are on the late show. So ya Colbert is being a dink. They were obviously nervous.

Rick and Marty are nothing but honest to goodness Explores in every sense of the word. Their life long dream and as adults their goal, is to solve the mystery of Oak Island, a quest for treasurers of tangible wealth and or historical wealth, answers of what really went on, on Oak Island. To dismiss all the possibilities but one and come up with one conclusion. A conclusion that may even re wright history with fact rather then conjecture. Their determination, fortitude, team work "Forever Family" way of being and just plain tenacity is to be admired, BIG TIME!
As far as the Brothers and their close nit relationship with each other, the team and even past searchers, it is to be an example for all.
As far as I am concerned if a treasure of any historic value comes out of this no matter what it's country of origin the team should at the least be given the opportunity chose a portion for them selves as a trophy and anything else be loaned or sold to possibility a government or governments for display for nothing less then the fair market value if that could be determined. They took the risk and should have our gratitude . Like I said, "at the least".
At the slim chance we get no more clues or answers from this effort the whole team and everyone involved should be congratulated as this is a success thus far. A success as far as finds, creating relationships, bring people together and a great possibility that the Canadian Government will open it's waters to shipwreck exploration and recovery. It's a Win Win for everyone.
History is being made and recovered at the same time. Thank you Rick and Marty and the whole team! I think a chain reaction started back in 1965

Colbert needs to have them back. They've found so much since then, including several gold jewelry pieces, many many centuries old coins, tunnels and mines with booby traps, etc. Etc.

*The biggest treasure they found so far is a big fat check from the History channel to run their show.*
*But sadly I think they spent more buying part of the island and renting heavy machinery.*

Every so often, Letterman would have a guest on to discuss something of importance. No jokes, no BS , just serious questions, answered seriously. This should have been one of those times. If the Laginas are successful, It could change the history of the New World. I don't watch Colbert very often, and this is why. On this episode I have to agree with btiller44.

This is a text book example of GOLD FEVER. What I don't understand is why would treasure of such significant (as believed) be left their in first place. Why nobody come back for it. Coconut fibre just got to island through the sea

That was the fastest 6 minutes of my life, thanks to Colbert. Shame because I enjoy both parties involved in this interview but something definitely crawled up Colbert's pants this interview. The brothers couldn't get a single word in.

  • @Kasarii

So, the legend says seven must die before the treasure shows up, and six have died. Not believing in myths is one thing, but how much do you really trust that the person you're digging with shares your view on that?

Not a huge fan of Colbert, but he's not being rude here. He asked them "what is Oak Island"? That's a question for the audience and viewers, to be quickly explained "....it's a small island just off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, and it is historically famous for....'. They never really answered it. That sets the scene. Storytelling 101.

As a big Colbert fan, I felt this interview was terrible. He made these guys feel unwelcome and it was tough to watch. The Curse of Oak Island show itself is interesting although a bit of a let down in that it is made for tv so you can expect the History Channel to inject drama where it is needed. I've read a couple of books on the subject and it is profoundly interesting. I would recommend checking out the show but also reading a book or two to really get an in depth look at the lore and the mystery surrounding the island.
