While making the value cards (including ace and joker) something like an attack and defend. Value cards 1-5 are attack cards while value cards 6-10 are defend cards. Attack cards the damage is the number on the card same for defense. Your health pool is 100. You take damage by the amount of health left of the monster after your turn. You still pull 3 cards.
Example: J is the first monster I encounter. I pull 3 cards a 3, 7, and 4. I deal seven damage and defend 7 hits of damage. Put those cards in the discard pile. The monster attacks for 13. I have 87 health left. I then pull an A and a joker. Those cards are wild cards which can be used for healing, damage, or shield. Later once all your cards are in the discard pile just shuffle it a couple times.

Great game! It’s a really neat idea : ) It got me experimenting I played a couple rounds then started playing with some different rules. For example if you use the same suit and it adds up perfectly, no activation card required! I also added the ability to pile on cards of the same suit, giving you more chances to get that perfect match. You can still add another card from a different suit, just treat the cumulative cards of the same suit as one card, making sure the cumulative value is over the face card’s value. This ends the streak, so you’ve effectively added the second card and have to play a same suit activation card to remove the face card, per normal play, I played a few rounds with these rules and it wasn’t too overpowered and really made those Jokers more valuable. In the end, I don’t think it added too much complexity but it did add a fun tension. It was a lot of fun! Thank you for this neat single player game, keep up the good work. nice game. For me... to have an added element of 'on-going challenge' is to have a high-score that you will want to beat. This score is tallied by adding the value of the cards in the discard pile that was not used to kill a monster. The lower the score the better. So there should be a slight rule change of, when killing a monster that entire combo is mucked/tossed away, so that only discarded card values are added up.
love this game!! only thing that would make this better is custom cards! I did find your upgrade and love that as well. I have lots of time to kill and need easy to play minimalist easy to carry games.
I am slowly getting to the point where a custom deck will benefit the game. ☺️ I would love to see the game have more items and more of a deck building system.
Great game and wonderful idea. I love it!! While playing I felt like there should be some kind of penalty for discarding a card that you could have played on a top card. So, one method I thought of was to have two discard piles. One would be the discards from the cards that defeated a monster and the other discard pile would be of the cards you decided not to play and these would be a negative point value to your total score. It really makes you think hard on whether you should or should not discard a card that could possible be played on a top card.
@@riffleshuffleandroll I would love to see this game get its own graphical card makeover. You know, monsters, attack items and the third card could be an attack technique card. That would solidify this game.
@@riffleshuffleandroll I think a game book with all these regular card deck dungeon crawls would be awesome. This would be a great game for a Kickstarter book with a bunch of 1 and 2 deck dungeon crawls.
You can make this is two player game, where the penalty card goes to a common open draw row and the other player can draw it by replacing it with a card they don’t want to use. With the 2 player version you both will play for the same dungeon(s) Each player plays their own card on their side of the dungeon. The player who can clear out 3 dungeons will win. There will be only two monsters per dungeon, making 6 dungeons in total. I have to figure out some game mechanism where you can can steal or destroy cards from the 1:39 opponents row to spice things up, or some deck building inclusion.
This is a fun game and a difficult one! I've played a bunch and lost most of my games, but still like it! The Theory 11 High Victorian deck has the number values of the face cards on the cards making it ideal for playing this game too!
Pretty fun game when your the only one who’s into playing cards and collecting rn Edit: I just came up with a multiplayer version where who will finish the dungeon first am probably not the first one to come up with this but I love the way this game can be with people or not!
I just found this game and think its great. I took the liberty to create a duel mode where e the players are merchants. You try to strike a deal wit the royles. you need to decks and combine the picture cards in the middle in 4 stacks. The players take turns with 3 Hand cards and when you can trigger are card you get the royle. Every card the other already had on that card is lost. I hope this idea has use for someone and thanks for creating the base idea^^
To be clear, you can only have two cards to add up, plus one more card to trigger the kill that doesn't add to the total of the two other cards? So once you put a single card down on a monster, your next card must add up to the minimum value of the monster card before you can play the trigger? If so, then you absolutely cannot place an ace or two on a King because no other card will add up to 13.
This reminds me of that game where two players using two deck of cards. One deck is the monsters and one deck is for characters and health. I forgot the name and how to play. Do you know what is it?
@@riffleshuffleandroll Not that one but it seems pretty interesting. Thanks for introducing that. Well I guise the game I was thinking about is going to be lost forever lol.
Say I play the 5 of hearts on the Jack of hearts first, then follow it up with the 4 of spades. If I could play the 3 of diamonds on it next, could the 5 of hearts be my trigger?
But 5 + 4 would only be 9 ame jacks are worth 11, can the trigger card be used I. The count then because I thought you had to make up equal or greater with a pair of cards.
@@HollyChristine You are correct. The first two cards played must be equal to or more than the value of the card. The trigger card (third card) must be the same suit as the court card you are attacking.
Should the trigger card be the last move before discarding the cards? Or can I start with triggering a prior combo I set out, get the next "monster card" and use the 2 cards I'm left with on that new monster?
Random question. When i beat a facecard but still have 1 or 2 face up waiting to be played. Can i clear the face card i beat and flip the new face card or do i have to finish out the hand first?
I don't know if I am allowed to add up cards to Like 18 and activate it on a jack and activating with a joker, But I'm assuming I can add up a lot to kill a face card but no the joker thing.pls anyone tell me , thanks.
Without jokers, the game is incredibly hard to win. Since you don't have any jokers in your deck, make the red aces wild. They can be any suit/rank you need. That should help!
Man, the joker is powerful in this game, will always work as a trigger or as a 10. Makes me wonder what the purpose is of declaring the joker as anything but a 10 since there is no penalty for overkill.
You are right. I worded it that way because I was always toying with the idea of offering a bonus for getting the exact value of the monster card. That way, the joker could be whatever value you needed to earn the bonus. Always tinkering with my games :)
That is a good question. My first inclination is to include them in the deck, but they have no suit or value. They are simply dud cards that slow down your progress. That’s not very exciting though! Do you have any ideas?
Maybe the advertisement card can be worth 13 and can kill any face card without the trigger or a second card or you can make it helps the face cards instead of you and gives it plus one more health to a face card of your Choice which one would it be
I played the whole three hours straight and I didn't win once I always get to the point where I have one left and then I lose, is it even possible to win this game?
Thank you for doing that. You made a very good video explaining the rules of the game. I just need to print them out and I will able to enjoy the game. Take care.
I'm not sure why you placed the ace on the discard pile. My logic tells me that you could have put that there in case you would have got a 10.... say you draw a 10 next.. or a combo that exceeds 10... then all you would need would be the trigger of the same suit, either on the same turn or the next... what's the point of discarding the ace if it just adds to the points needed/ exceeds for the kill?
If im right the only way to win this game is to get a near perfect game and you can only win with 1 or 2 cards left, am i right or did i miss something because while not impossible this sounds like a very luck intensive game as you can only have 1 or 2 cards that go to waste max or you lose
This game does rely heavily on luck, but there are also plenty of choices to be made when playing the attack cards onto the dungeon cards. It’s a nice combination of both. When I designed this game, I wanted it to play and feel like an old school solitaire game. Think Klondike or Pyramid. The older games relied a lot on luck. :)
@@riffleshuffleandroll Thanks for the reply! One more question, as someone who wants to make a card game what steps or thought processes did you go by to make this game?
@@ticcerz1790 I suppose there are different approaches. For me, I typically start with a game mechanism or feature that I like. For this game, it was adding the cards together to "defeat" a bigger card. When I put this game together, I was playing a lot of different solitaire games, so they influenced the layout of the cards, and the idea behind a draw pile and a three card reserve. I like to think about how I can take a mechanism from a game, and apply it to a different game type. Once I've decided on a main mechanism, I start making decisions about how the game is played, what components there will be. As you playtest, you will start to see problems that need fixed. Hope this helped!

you need to decks and combine the picture cards in the middle in 4 stacks.
The players take turns with 3 Hand cards and when you can trigger are card you get the royle. Every card the other already had on that card is lost.
I hope this idea has use for someone and thanks for creating the base idea^^
I’ve been mulling this very same idea over for a while now. I should have an official two player version soon. Thank you for sharing!
Use aces high low ,ace of spades beats King of spades outright ,otherwise used as one or discarded .
This is a great game - very well thought out! Do you have any written instructions as a guide? Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for the compliment! I will get something typed out to share later today. :)

Thank you! That means a lot to me. I am very glad you like it.
This is lovely, thanks a lot
I’m glad you enjoy the game. Thank you!
I'm so happy I found this vid
Really cool deck! 😍
One question: what do you do when you don’t have any cards in the draw pile?
Great question! The game ends once the draw pile is empty. If you have not defeated all of the monsters by then, you lose. :)
@@riffleshuffleandroll Thanks!
this is my favorite card game I play it all the time thanks😃
I am glad you enjoy it. Thank you for playing!
Correct.
@@riffleshuffleandroll okay. Fun game, easy setup, and I've currently won 2 of 4 games
Nice! I’m glad you enjoy it :)
Awesome idea dude! You should really try to make this more public. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!

Isnt the joker just functionally a 10 with any suit?
Yep!

what a creative idea
This reminds me of that game where two players using two deck of cards. One deck is the monsters and one deck is for characters and health. I forgot the name and how to play. Do you know what is it?
I did a quick search and came across One Deck Dungeon. Is that what you are thinking of?

Where did you get those awesome looking Bicycle playing cards...I Love the look of them! Thanks😊
They are called the Tragic Royalty playing cards. Should be on Amazon. :D
Ayo, I played this game for 6 rounds and lost all of them :*(
Uh oh! That’s some tough luck.
When you draw three cards, can you put one on each face card to end the turn and then draw three more?
Yep ☺️
If you run out of cards to draw as your hands what do you do if you need more hands cause I just shuffle the discard pile
If you are unable to clear the dungeon before the draw pile runs out, you lose the game. The dungeon monsters have defeated you. :)
Say I play the 5 of hearts on the Jack of hearts first, then follow it up with the 4 of spades. If I could play the 3 of diamonds on it next, could the 5 of hearts be my trigger?
Thank you for the question! The third card played is the trigger card. :) In your example, the 5 of hearts cannot be the trigger card.
@@riffleshuffleandroll Thank you for the quick reply!
I'm ready to start playing!
@@HollyChristine Awesome! Let me know how you do.
Should the trigger card be the last move before discarding the cards? Or can I start with triggering a prior combo I set out, get the next "monster card" and use the 2 cards I'm left with on that new monster?
You can trigger, destroy the monster, unveil a new one, and decide how to play your next two cards! That’s the best way to go about it. :)
So it doesn't need to be the exact amount adding up to the face card? Just over it?
Right. Same or more. :)
I'm working on a web version of this great game, so i can play it on the commute from/to work. Just in case someone else is interested...

what if one of the rows are clear, can i move other cards from the face cards there?
Nope. Cards must stay in the pile they were dealt to. ☺️
Random question. When i beat a facecard but still have 1 or 2 face up waiting to be played. Can i clear the face card i beat and flip the new face card or do i have to finish out the hand first?
Flip the face down card over as soon as it is revealed. No need to wait :)
I don't know if I am allowed to add up cards to Like 18 and activate it on a jack and activating with a joker, But I'm assuming I can add up a lot to kill a face card but no the joker thing.pls anyone tell me , thanks.
Yes, you can make a total of 18 and activate with a joker. A joker can be any suit needed.
@@riffleshuffleandroll ok thank you, nice fun game btw.
@@LwxndZ Thank you! I am glad you like it!
Is there any other way to play (change the rule I don't know) if you don't have joker ? I'm trying to play without it but I'm always losing the game.
Without jokers, the game is incredibly hard to win. Since you don't have any jokers in your deck, make the red aces wild. They can be any suit/rank you need. That should help!
Do you think this is playable without the jokers? or would it be too difficult
It would be incredibly difficult to win, but you can play without the jokers. ☺️
I loved that game
Glad you enjoy it!
where do you create the illustrative images of the cards to explain your game in pdf? is there a website for this?
I just pinned a comment with the link to the PDF. :)
Can you put more than two attack cards on a monster or is the max attack cards (not including trigger card) the limit?
Only two cards + one trigger
Does the trigger card have to be the last card
Yes. The last card you play is the trigger card. =^)
Can the joker act as a trigger card for any suit, aswell as a card of upto the 10 value?
Yep! You got it right :D
Idk if you said this during the video😭 What happens if you have more than three cards on one of the face cards? Does that mean you lose?
You cannot put more than three cards on a face card. Two attack cards and one trigger card.
@@riffleshuffleandroll Thank you! :)
i didnt watch the whole video before playing it and found myself only being able to place cards if my hand can defeat a face card on the board
Can you attack more than once per turn?
Yes you can.
Always tinkering with my games :)
can the jokers be used only as the cards that finish the monsters or can they also be used to initiate an attack on the monsters?
Jokers can be used to initiate the attack AND finish the monsters. = )
@@riffleshuffleandroll how much points is joker?i think i missed it
@@riffleshuffleandroll wait nevermind it was in 5:22
What to do with the advertisement cards?
That is a good question. My first inclination is to include them in the deck, but they have no suit or value. They are simply dud cards that slow down your progress. That’s not very exciting though! Do you have any ideas?
Maybe the advertisement card can be worth 13 and can kill any face card without the trigger or a second card or you can make it helps the face cards instead of you and gives it plus one more health to a face card of your Choice which one would it be
I played the whole three hours straight and I didn't win once I always get to the point where I have one left and then I lose, is it even possible to win this game?

I updated the link in the description :D
Thank you for doing that. You made a very good video explaining the rules of the game. I just need to print them out and I will able to enjoy the game. Take care.
I'm not sure why you placed the ace on the discard pile. My logic tells me that you could have put that there in case you would have got a 10.... say you draw a 10 next.. or a combo that exceeds 10... then all you would need would be the trigger of the same suit, either on the same turn or the next... what's the point of discarding the ace if it just adds to the points needed/ exceeds for the kill?
use gaff cards for new effects and dice rolls
@@riffleshuffleandroll Thanks this helps alot! 🙏
Agree. If you discard 6 cards you will lose. Unless I am doing something wrong. I have played probably 50 times and haven’t won once.

Yea! Removing the jokers makes it much more difficult to win.
