This is a 2-4 player cooperative survival deck building game. Players choose to play as a warrior, paladin, rogue, or mage and must work together to defeat the monster deck before their own health runs out. This video explains how to play the two player mode and features rules from Act I. Наука

Just in case anyone else is wondering: the discard pile is re-used as draw pile once the initial draw pile runs out. This way, wound cards will become part of the draw deck and can therefor be in your hand and played (if paladin).
Ohhh. I was really confused on how the warrior or paladin would be useful at all...
Ohh ok. So the warrior and the paladin are late game characters. Right?

I can't imagine the feeling when your old video, you maybe forgot about, just gets recommended to so many people and they share their love with you. That must be so frikin wholesome
Some classes I just brainstormed:
Druid- Can block each monster twice
Ranger- +2 against unblocked monsters, -2 against blocked monsters
Barbarian- attacks twice, +1 to all card values, draws only 2 cards per turn
Summoner- discard to summon cards of lower value, summoned cards attack once per turn, must discard two cards to summon any royal, summoned royals count as two drawn cards, summoned cards count as drawn cards, if no cards drawn this turn then cannot summon next turn, cannot attack directly
Necromancer- can summon monster from top of graveyard after taking damage from a stronger monster, summoned monster attacks once per turn, can only have one summoned monster, can attack directly as well, only draws two cards per turn if a monster is summoned
Scoundrel- flip a coin at the beginning of each draw phase, if tails: can choose one card from your deck as one of your drawn cards, shuffle after choosing; if heads: draw one card from your ally’s deck to your hand and draw one card from your own deck and add it to your ally’s hand, do this before any other cards are drawn
Alchemist- can discard one normal card and one health card to choose any card from the deck, shuffle after choosing, OR discard two health cards and return one to the health deck
Bard- your ally draws an extra card next turn if you take damage, once per game you can instead nullify the damage you would take and return all health cards in both players’ hands to their respective health decks
Noble- can attack and block with your ally’s card or your own
Priest- If a player (you or your ally) draws a health card, the player who drew the health card can draw an extra card (only one extra card maximum each turn)
If attacked, summoned cards can either add health to the discard pile (as with a normal attack) or be discarded to block (even if they are not as strong as the attacking card)
The bard sounds pretty broken
Time to get a note pad. I need this!
"And here is the Robot who can normal summon twice a turn, gets +1 on charisma, can tap 2 forests to gain 3 life, and can pay two health to draw a card"

Ive been trying to develop a game like this for a while.others have too.i think yours is definitely the best take on the rpg game for a regular card deck by far!!very nice!!also..solo..im thinking you could reduce the amount of monsters by say one, and maybe tap colors for aggro turns.so one defend turn black attacks the hero, and then draw discard attack and red attacks the hero.or play two decks solo as a two party team..im going to start testing that this week..act 2!!! Damn the gods!! let them burn!! let their temples crumble! And let them all fall from the sky to face our mortal fury!!!

Hey, I'm making a card game similar to this but has more features. Would you mind telling me what you think of it so far?
This so freaking cool! Will definitely give this a try. It seems to have the feel of a full fledged card game like The Mind and yet it only uses standard playing cards! Genius!
I’m back three years later, still think this is dope.
You could make a class that is like a summoner and his attack cards are actually monsters he can place to fight by the player's side. Also you could make a necromancer class that could use his attack cards to summon a monster from the monster's graveyard to the same effect as the summoner, I imagine this as the necromancer playing an attack card to reanimate a monster of equal or lower value as the card played.
I mean, I'm not saying I'm glad that youtube is recommending me this video from 5 years ago, but I'm glad youtube is recommending me this video from five years ago.

A few questions here.
1. When the game ends? Do we won at the moment the monster deck runs out, end of the round the monster deck runs out, or the moment we destroy all monster? Do I die when I get 13 wounds(wound deck runs out), or 14 wounds (wound deck is not enough)?
2. If a warrior kills a club monster by Bloodlust, can they get a healing/removal bonus? (even if the suit of attack card is not same with that of monster card)
3. Can a player perform a dummy action? For example, can a paladin attack a monster with a lower-value card only in order to use their ability? (because it requires to attack)
This is a very creative game, I have enjoyed it every time I played it. I’ve showed other people this game and they like it as well. Keep up the great work.
your almost at 1000 subs my guy
Why is there both an attack- and defend phase?
Wouldn't you preferably just destroy a monster in the attack phase to not deal with it in the defend phase?
It only seems to be useful to the mage.
Unless you can only attack once in a turn?
You can only attack once (except for a mage who can attack for a second time to monsters that are only in the 'block area'). The defense phase makes it useful for non-mage classes to minimize damage and give the mage an attack of opportunity to the monster who gets in the 'block area' during the defense stage.
Very glad this popped up in recommended, will definitely try this with friends at some point!

Idea: Cleric, alternative to Paladin and uses Hearts. If the other player has a Wound in their hand, the Cleric can play a card to contest it. If the card played is equal or higher than the Wound in value, then the other player can place the Wound as well as another card from their hand in their health deck.
ive always wanted something like this, same with chess pieces. i love stuff like this
Would you mind helping me out w/my card game I'm making?
For extra content/more ideas, what if there was a necromancer class? Basically, whenever you kill a monster, you can discard two additional cards to put that monster in your discard pile rather than the monster graveyard. This may be too powerful as I haven’t tested it but seems pretty cool to me.
The reason I think it could be balanced is cause the necromancer has to spend three cards to do this ability (one to kill the monster and two to discard and add it to their own discard pile). This, while, powerful, would leave the necromancer with no cards left to defend with during defense phase.
Clarifications:
- the necromancer is allowed to discard wound cards as well as attack cards when using their special ability
- the monsters, when drawn, count towards the 3 card hand limit and can be used for both attacking and defending.
- the monster deck and the player deck have different backs, so this could be potentially powerful in that the necromancer always knows which cards in his deck are the “resurrected” monsters
LOVE IT, otw to buy 2 deck of cards
Couple more questions. Do both players go at the same time? Or does one go, and then the other goes? And if we go separately, do I get attacked on my friends turn? Or do you only get attacked on your own turn?
You can go simultaneously. Once you both go, then it's the monsters turn and they will attack each of you accordingly.
Roll initiative by choosing a card from a shuffled deck. Whoever gets the highest go first, followed by the second, and the third, until the last player (monsters are included in the 'initiative draw').
Did a similar game, but a little bit more simple with my students. Turned part of the game into counting practise haha
I've been working on a similar concept. It didn't have classes, but rather different suits represented different things. Like Diamonds were money, and the Dimond royals were shops. Where the players could sell cards from their discard pile and buy ones that were dealt with from the supply. Have you considered using the monster pile to create a map? Think something like the Sector map from FTL ( link below) but replacing each node with a small deck of cards.
You could organize the monster deck so that you encounter the Jacks first, then the Queens and then the Kings as boss-type cards that would give the game a ramping difficulty as it progressed. Just a suggestion.

That’s crazy. We got the same friend.
Here are some ideas I had for other classes:
Ranger class has skill Split Shot which allows him to kill two Mob who's sum is equal to the attacking card. (Use a 9 to kill a 4 & 5).
Priest or Cleric class has a skill that works similar to the Paladin. When you kill a Mob one of your allies may move any wounds from their hand to their Life draw deck.
Warlock class has Life Tap skill after discard phase you may draw back up to three attack cards but from your Life draw deck. These wounds can be used to make attacks this turn only (or until they are discarded, not sure just so long as a warlock cannot use wounds to attack that went through his discard. Only the fighter can do that)
Thief class has Sleight of Hand skill after the discard phase switch 1 card between an ally's hand and your own. This can help make sure the team is making optimal moves. Or non optimal :-)
Dan Langford for the thief, where does the card go if it is discarded?
@@Nylspider He meant that instead of discarding you can switch one card with your ally, at least I think that's what he meant

What if instead of puting the monster in the graveyard when it has the same colour as you you put it în your discard pile. This way you are encouraged to cooperate and select what monster to kill very carefully

This is really cool! Has anyone made a themed version of this?
I’m also confused about the defending part. How do I now which monster I am being attacked by? If I am a black suit and 2 of the monsters are black suits which one is attacking me? Which one am I defending from because it could change the whole phase depending on your hand. Am I just missing something?
Can you only block one monster during the defend phase or you can block two or three monsters if you have class cards equal or higher than the monsters?
Dude u are amazing cool, great game!
I had an idea for a different mage ability: polymorph! Discard 1 card to transform a monster into the card you discarded
If we play 3-4 player does we need to put more card in the monster deck? Or does the monster does more damage?
You’d probably cut up the health decks
I didnt understand this thing: when it happens to draw a wound card in your hand?
it seems that when you take damage the wound card has to be discarded, so how can the warrior use is ability?
I would love to see this made into an actual game with cards that explain themselves... you could keep the suits and numbers on the cards, but have art on them to designate what is what (for example, the knight would have a knight on the back of their cards and maybe a description of the bloodlust ability)... then they could have their own health decks which would be the color swapped suit.... maybe that's actually where you would put the bloodlust description and the Paladin's heal, and then just have the other 2 characters health decks say unusable.... or you could do color swapped suits for expansion characters
I like this ^^ I might go design something like that
5 minute dungeons is the closest I can think of to this game. Has amazing artwork btw
When you use a card to attack, you put it on the left. You also put wound cards on top of that pile. Do you get back those cards you used to attack? Do they just sit there?
does everyone go and then the monsters go, or do the monsters go after every player? It seems redundant to use the block if everyone can attack before the monsters.
class combo ideas:
if u play with 2 people you can combine the paladin and the rogue to get a mad scientist who heals with his potions your team and your self i was in a 4 man party for this and we did this idea and it went awsome we also made a lot of other classes like
combining a mage and a pali to get a pirate clas whos main spell is an aoe set up for a card who can be blown up in phase 4

Bloody good work
Hey, I'm making a card game similar to this but has more features. Would you mind telling me what you think of it so far?
does every player have their one turn or do they do everything at the same time (e.x draw cards, attack....) ?
Archer idea: you can use a lower card to hit a monster and the damage will add up each turn until you reach the amount to kill it . Ex: use 2 on a 5 , its now wounded and need 3 or higher to finish it next turn
Keven Bouchard I think that’s a little too good. You would need something to to weaken that. Late game you’d be untouchable
How about weaker ahainst blocked enemies?
I have some ideas about how to implement armor, enchants, rings, necklaces, loot and so on
I’ve only got one deck. Is there any free software I can use instead?
So if there are four players I just take other cards to symbolyse the health?
I just have one question- what’s the point of using equal or higher cards in your deck to block monsters rather than just killing them right beforehand with the same card? Maybe you can use one card in your deck to defend against multiple monsters, making so there’s a reason to save your cards to defend and an advantage you have to consider over attacking
Tony this game caught our interest. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to develop this game for use within the escape room industry.
Love the idea
I've gotten more use to using Uno cards for my token keeping needs
So im actually planning a care RPG inspired by this.
Would you mind helping me out w/my card game I'm making?
You said this plays 2-4. How would you count health in a 3/4 player setup. Would you need a third deck? And if you did play 3/4 players, would you consider adding more monsters at a time?
I dont get the blocking thing? How does that work? They attack each round or?
a question about the warriors ability:
When I kill a monster with a wound card, does the monster need to be the same kind as the wound card for the special ability of destroing cards in my discard pile to work, or can I still use this ability with club monsters when I attack with a wound?
also, can you get the "destroy a card in the discard pile bonus" with the thiefs assassination anility?
You could kill any monster as long as the cards in your attack deck is equal to or higher than the value of said monster.
You can only 'destroy' a discarded attack card if you successfully kill a monster using an attack card of the same suit (not color).
What if you kept the Aces in the monster decks and instead of a monster, you could allow them to be treasure chests. To open a treasure chest, you must be of the same suit or use an Ace of your own as a skeleton key. That gives specific items depending on the suit (this can be elaborated on by a per game basis or we could make a different item depending on which class opens it instead).
Is there any place I could get a PDF of these rules? I would like to send them to my Kindle so I can access them without WiFi
I’ve only used the google docs, sorry :(
This idea is amazing
I always wanted to be able to play a battling card game with standard decks of cards
Hello, just a thought that the Saladin could also heal your ally. This could add a stronger sense of teamwork. Also, are the blocked creatures only able to be attacked by the hero they attacked, or can anyone attack them?
Anyone can attack them
Blood mage seems like an obvious class choice. I would go berserk with the kinds of effects, would not keep them so simple. Like ranking up when you go through a shuffle and gaining a new ability and possibly effects that messes with the other player cards... Pay me and I'll brainstorm, hahaha.
If one player dies, does the other player receive damage from both red and black cards?
Hello! I've been playing Ascension lately and I came out with a simple question. I'm playing it solo, controlling 2 heroes simultaneously, but when one of them dies, what happens next? I mean, the monsters were setup to attack each heroe according to their faces, but then what should they do? Does all of them attack the remaining warrior? Cause if that is correct, then it is quite impossible to continue with just one warrior. Its certain death. The rules don't tell anything about that though
If one class dies, the monsters will all target the survivor. It is a team based game so having a player die usually means a loss.
novel and entertaining. Well done
So do you still fill the spot if you blocked a card
