    when job is done done they show huge respect for each other. But in the races the
    Two Young guys fight like vicious animals The greatest thing is that they both are so young so we hopefully will get to see many many more of those races in many years forward.

    Super critical words last night in the Netherlands’ most important cycling talk show.
    People like Marcel Kittel were among the guests, and they were extremely disappointed how TJV handled press conference questions regarding doping after the finish. They were saying that after being so dominant this seeason, TJV has a responsibility to be transparent about their performances in order to not re-create much of the doubt that the Armstrong era brought to cycling.
    Since TJV is a Dutch team and the talk show is usually extremely biased in favor of them, I was quite taken aback by these strong words. What are your opinions guys?

    The people saying JV gave away the win are being disrespectful toward Van Aert. Van Aert is a tank and he was the fastest. I imagine after the near crash, JV was thinking "right, let's just get this home rather than trying to be a hero." WVA makes going to the edge look easy. JV nearly lost everything trying to match him and it may well be that he didn't have the legs to keep doing it and be confident of maintaining control. Would have been just a silly risk.
    Van Aert won fair and square and on merit.

    Jonas definately let of the gas in the end for wout. He was 4-5 seconds faster 3 km before the goal and then comes in 17 seconds after him at the end at the point where he was strongest. You can see he was celebrating on the way back and sitting up taking it slow. However wout deserved the win and it i is not like there would have been a big difference only 5-10 seconds on the whole TT if jonas went for the win.

Because we will (or at least I will) remember forever the masterclass on stage 11, the Hautacam, AND this TT as the moments that broke what seemed to be an absolute and inevitable dominance of Pog in the forseeable future. He didn't need to do it, to give the final hammerblow, but not only he did, as he did it while slowing down in the end giving Wout the win. This right here is class personified. Congrats Jonas.

    • @iamcruzing
      @iamcruzing Год назад +2

      I think it will be debated by many as to whether Jonas "gave" the win to Wout. He certainly sat up on the last finish stretch. However, he may have already lost to WVA immediately after his near crash- Bob Roll, I believe, suggested he might have slowed a bit in the final curves realizing it was a bit crazy to take any more huge risks knowing he had Pogacar in hand at that point, so why risk wiping out? If indeed, he took even a bit off the gas pedal then, he could have lost his 2 sec advantage over Wout before the final stretch. So rather than him gifting the stage to WVA, he may have been thinking quite rationally about his own preservation- why risk a crash & the whole tour victory when by backing off a smidge, he clearly preserves his tour win. So there may well have been a mix of altruism (give it to WVA) and selfish thinking (I've won- stop taking unnecessary risks) going into his decision process at the end. Doubt we'll ever know with certainty all of it... I think it would be interesting to look at timed filmed footage of the last few minutes of the race after his near accident to see what transpired!
