- There's no secret that I'd love a 718 GT4 RS, and after this experience you'll know exactly why! I'm at the Podium Club in Arizona, and the kind owner of this car has invited me to take it out for some hot laps on track. This could be the greatest Porsche EVER!
Having owned a Porsche 981 GT4 and 718 GT4, and thoroughly enjoyed driving both as intended including Nurburgring laps, the GT4 RS is absolutely right up my street. Squeezing the GT3 engine into the mid-engine platform, making 500hp, and having the PDK gearbox, it's a beautifully balanced machine that's set up to really let you drive it hard.
During an outing to the new Podium Club with McLaren Scottsdale and some of their clients, unfortunately I picked up a flat tyre in my AMG GT Black Series putting an end to the fun and meaning I hadn't managed to film a video with it. However, thanks to the owner of this Porsche GT4 RS, my day gets even better with an opportunity to go out and drive and have some fun with his private car.

I got lucky on my birthday, my team attended Porsche World Road Show media day and there's a GT4 RS there. I got to experience the passenger ride for two laps, I can tell you that intake sound never gets old. The last 1000rpm banzai run to 9000 gave me goosebumps.

I have said in the last video in which you specifically mentioned the GT4 RS: Tim, you NEED one of these in your fleet if possible.
And also, as a permanent keeper. This car has gotten so much positive feedback from many sides and car experts and - journalists.
I really hope that you can get a GT4 RS in the future. The perfect track tool with an amazing engine and sound.

It really is that good. And I have a 964, an '11 GT3 RS 4.0, and a 991 Turbo at the moment. It very closely reminds me of the tactile feel and sounds of the RS 4.0, just very updated. The car is a steal (if you have an in to get one at MSRP, which i do). I sold my 600LT for it, and I don't regret it for a second. It's 100% a drivers car vs. a numbers car, though the numbers aren't shabby.
@moderz My dealer charged me MSRP...same with my 992 GT3 manual and my 992 GT3 RS. Rare, but it happens.

You're literally standing within feet of the exact perfect person to connect you with the right people at Porsche... you both have the same job and come from the same country... and are both on site.
If i was a Porsche dealer i would definitely allocated you one. Of all the car Collectors you are without any doubt the one who actually drive the cars. My friend just got he's new gt3 and only had a gts from before wich he tracked a lot. The Porsche dealer noticed this and even though he didn't have the sales history, they would rather sell him one, since he tracks his cars, rather to have it stored in a garage.

Whoever owns that Porsche is a true legend for handing you the keys. I can confirm this is one of the most beautiful cars Porsche has made. I think my favorite has to be the 918 RSR. I first saw it in NFS The Run and the rest is history 😂😂

I just got my 2023 GT4, its soooo good. I wish I could get an RS. Not gunna happen, but my regular GT4 is a master piece of an engine also.

Can’t agree with that - it’s just too outright fast and the engines too revvy for a manual gearbox. Only a pro driver could hope to manage that combination effectively.

A future classic FOR SURE!
The bespoke transmission is what really makes the GT4RS special. The other GT4's were always geared wrong because they shared transmissions.
Really enjoyed this video Tim, great to see the 718 RS puts a smile on your face. Enjoyed the bit at the end talking about allocations. Hoping to get one for the 718 RS Spyder to replace my 718 Spyder. I heard the dealers will only get one allocation each. You heard anything about this?
Presumably you drive your car round Europe? The RS will be less friendly as a long distance machine. Follower of your channel.

I am a member at the Podium Club. In fact, my wife driving our GT3RS who is the first member car on that track. She does laps in the 1:36 area. also, we hit 150 MPH by the end of the straight. You got to go deep into the breaking zone though.
Love the GT4RS, wanted to buy one but it doesn’t look like that’s going to be possible. The 2019 GT3RS is pretty cool, I also have a 2009 Cayman that’s a Cage race car. So I guess I’ll be all right.

Tim. Make sure you thank the owner for your flat tire leading the the future purchase one one of these ! Though one would wonder how it would compete against your amg black series on track....with a substantial horsepower advantage. Yours wins on practicality every day of the week taking it all over the world. I'm sure you could find one if these in the future with your reputation in the future !

Seeing a Porsche again in the collection would be epic.
He doesn't seem to like to hang on to them for whatever reason. Me? I love the rear engine. (In the case of the 718 mid, so different feel). I'm a Porsche fanatic. But, shmee did get into the Mercedes GT line, which gives Porsche a run for its money.

My dad had one of these beauties, so i got to enjoy it regularly and see it’s power and performance even over a long distance, when we took a trip across europe in it, having a bit of fun in germany along the way. Although sadly the weight of the car to the tyres was bad, so it didn’t take a lot to loose control in damp conditions, and living in the UK that combination didn’t work well and my dad ended up rolling it 41/2 times landing on its roof damaging the structural making it a write off.

Ecstatic review. Exciting car. It is not correct that you can rev it beyond 4,000 at rest, unless you are doing launch control. I did 3,000 kms for my run in. This car is redlining at a much lower mileage!
Funny thing is, watching the rev counter during those laps it looked like all the higher end shifts were at around 8500 and didn't even get to the 9k and obviously still sounded amazing. Would love to hear the scream as it hits those last few hundred revs.
No RUclipsrs microphone can come close to do it justice. It’s like a chainsaw on nitro, but actually I love driving it with valves closed at lower rpm to really take in the minute differences you can dish out with the accelerator like it’s a music instrument
I’ve watched every RUclips vid, your correct the sound quality isn’t great on the vids but sure is incredible inside while it bleeds red!
@@Nord_Mann Valves open has too much hum low down and I agree that with the valves closed you get to hear a mixture of other sounds.
Not to disrespect any of this dream experience. I already knew the Cayman platform was the best driving car, together with the 997 Turbo, SRT-10 Roadster and last but definitely not last the Lotus Exige. How? You'd probably wonder?

Well, I’m a Porsche 911 owner and of course I love all about the GT4 RS. It’s gorgeous to look at in person and the sound is music. But I think it’s too much to say that “nothing can touch it” at the price! I just saw the Lightning Lap at VIR on Car and Driver channel. The GT4 RS as tested was about U$ 180K and the Corvette C8 Z06 for U$ 140k! Let’s say that the C8 Z06 can touch it…very hard. But not considering the price, let’s wait for the real track nemesis of the Z06: the GT3 RS! 🤗
That or a manual last ed, would be a super addition to The Shmeemobiles!

Crazy to think that these cars are currently being given the US car market treatment. Stories of them trading for a Quarter of a million pounds here. £250,000 for a cayman!!!! It is a wonderful car, but £250k for a Cayman is nuts! I think there is one on Autotrader at the moment for not to far off that price!

The tow eye at the front caught my attention - well it saves time doesn't it! Not necessary on my Mercedes SLK. Don't mind me I'm just jealous :-) Tyre warning symbol up there, the source of your problems on your own car perhaps :-). Not exactly scenic though is it.

If one thinks of Porsche as an engineering company that happens to produces cars, they do push the limits.
Correct about no roll cage in US, but we can and do get the LWCB bucket seats as standard. Owner of that one just opted out of them....
Buckets give me a sore back and are hard to get out of. But they serve a purpose and look great.

I simply cannot believe how Tim can recite encyclopaedic knowledge about what ever car he happens to encounter. Never mind Shmee, it’s more like Encyclo- shmeedia! I know that Porsche like to restrict access to their cars by having lists etc, but surely they would be shooting themselves in the foot by not having a GT4 RS in the hands of the helmsman of one of the foremost car/ petrol head channel in the world?
