    Excellent episode covering a few interesting topics including the Idaho Over the Internet Chaos that is ridiculous and needs tweaked big time, both of his epic adventure hunts that had cool side animal kills like a cougar and elk, and the big rabbit hole of big cartridges vs smaller ones. The friendly ribbing of Brady being an elk guy and trying to win a discussion vs Brady.
    Brady is the reason why I wasn't hesitant to jump on a deal that saved me $400 on a new Savage Model 110 Long Range Hunter in 300 WSM, which is an 8.4 lb rifle without scope and ammo.
    Having the Big Chief Lorenzo on brings another experienced perspective and good sense of humor, hopefully he will be on more in the future.

    I love this, I get so much crap for bringing my 3lb optic on my rifle. I think it’s worth the weight and I agree with Brady. I enjoy long range shooting. It’s ethical for folks that can do it.

    Do I remember Brady saying in a previous podcast he was taking it easy on these hunts to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself before his out of country hunt? If this is Brady taking it easy, I wanna hear what going hard is lol! 😂 I can’t wait to watch these videos!

    Same on the deer elk thing. Seems like if there's lots of elk then there's only a few deer and if there's lots of deer there's only a few elk.

    I think a point that a lot of people miss, is the opportunity to practice at any extended range. Most gun ranges in the midwest and east are probably 200 yard 300 max. Great podcast. Congrats on the mountain lion Brady

    Colorado is busy, we have one of the best over counter elk tags in the country. We have our spots, if I ever meet a nonresident hunter in the backcountry…I’ll just say welcome, and discuss the situation. The animals belong to the people, their is no ownership. Resident hunters continue to see an influx of people, and that’s just because there is a vast amount of country to get lost in…we’re lucky…be kind out there! 🤙🏼

    Great podcast guys...listening to hunting stories is the best. Long hunts way to grind.👍 Big, late snowstorms are a great equalizer when it comes to finding bucks that have been timber bound and getting them on their feet. If you weren't seeing more deer in the amount of time you were putting in especially in the habitat your were hunting...hmmm might not be there. You must have worked your ass off packing elk through that heavy snow. What's your verdict then on those 208 LRX?

    Question for Brady. I know you like data points. Did you recover any of those bullets with that elk? I'm curious about the penetration and bullet wieght retention.

    • @bradymiller6317
      @bradymiller6317 Год назад +2

      You read my mind, as I do love data :) I have two of them sitting on my desk. One was from the shoulder and the other behind the shoulder. I keep forgetting to bring them back to my house and weigh them. I'll do that tonight for sure and get back to you. I was shooting the Barnes 208 gn LRX BT.

    Brady, I was wondering if you used your 16” Schnees pac boots in the deep Colorado snow or stuck with a traditional hiking boot with gaiters?
    thanks

    • @bradymiller6317
      @bradymiller6317 Год назад

      Hey Ted. I regret that I didn't bring them! I have a big late season hunt in late November/early December that I was really wanting to test out the Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 1000s for. I had been breaking those in this fall and half way through my Idaho hunt, I switched boots to the Kenetrek (was using a Scarpa earlier in the Idaho hunt). I absolutely love my 16" Schnees pac boots in snow. And I've used them a lot in Colorado hiking in mountain terrain. I do like that combo a bit more than normal leather boots and gaiters. Both work great for me, but if it's cold and lots of snow, I really love the Schnees 16". Those things are just toasty warm when you stop and glass.

    Brady, did you take two spotters then or completely change your technique of taking huge glass for this mule deer hunt?

    • @brady_j_miller
      @brady_j_miller Год назад +1

      Hey Tayson. For the first leg of the trip. I just used the new Swaro ATC spotter. I stopped at a town on my way to the next hunt and mailed it back to Swaro. Then I used my big 115mm objective Swaro with the BTX and ATX eyepiece. I’m still a firm believer in big glass and won’t change that anytime soon. But that new ATC is really great!

    Brady, it kills me that you use an moa based scope. It's pure bias from my competition shooting, because they both work just fine its just interesting that you chose MOA.

    • @brady_j_miller
      @brady_j_miller 2 месяца назад +1

      All good. I'll stick with MOA for a lot of reasons. And I'm glad there are people out there that like MILs. I have started to become more versed in MILs so I can call for people who use that system. But for me, I still really, really enjoy MOA.

    • @rschwarck44
      @rschwarck44 2 месяца назад

      @@brady_j_miller for sure and like I said its pure bias from PRS and NRL Hunter where the overwhelming majority of us run mils and talk mils. With as serious as you are i just find it interesting that you went MOA. Keep up the quality work. Have you ever done an NRL Hunter match?
