I like how you mention about mixing lenses that's where many videographers don't get it. Many people thinks getting this or that brand lenses will make them a great DP or Photographers. It all comes to what you really need for the particular shot, scene, sequence or the overall movie.

What about beginners? Sure, camera and lens does not really make whole movie, but its start point.
I just got a set of Zeiss Rolleis for a fair price, trying to work with lenses and speed i have.

@@glebmazur9892 You have a point. I was referring to those creators that keep telling others that they need to get certain camera or lens to produce great content. But I think if your needs requires it then feel free to explore. Zeiss Rolleis are great lens that can add value to your work. Unfortunately I don't have those in my collection.
I do have Nikon modern glass and few Non Ai series, almost the whole set of Canon FD Vintage glass except the 17mm and the 200mm, almost the whole set of Konica Hexanon vintage glass, few of the following brand: Vivitar vintage glass, Yashica, Takumar, and modern Sony lenses for my A7iii. Those are my favorite brand glass in my collection.

Many creators are making a living from youtube and probably they need to promote many products...we can't blame them for that, but I don't agree what pro consumism influencers are doing nowadays. In my case, I don't wont to be the sales guy for other brands...so I just share my personal opinion for products that are worth to consider. There are so many things that can be done just with one camera, one lens and one light...even with the cheap ones.

I have a lot of old C/Y lenses in my kit, recently I bought a mirrorless camera and an adaptive ring to use those old lenses on the new body. Well, I find the C/Y lenses are still at the tip of the top lenses today available on the market, even more, if you compare these old lenses with modern ones. I do not refer to special technical features such as vignetting or flares, but to the general outfit of the image you got even with a digital sensor instead of an analog film. Really impressive. I'm currently looking for a Distagon 21/2,8, but the old C/Y are still very expensive and have not found yet a "good" item of the new Zeiss ZE type.

Yeah, these lenses are pretty good! I suggest you to get the nikon version instead of canon. You'll have the manual aperture ring with the nikon version (ZF). Cheers!

Nice. I have the Contax 28 2.8, 50 1.4, 135 2.8 and recently got a set of zeiss classic for a different look or to potentially work together with my Contax. Got the ZE 21 2.8, 35 1.4 and 85 1.4

Great kit mate! If you have the chance, get the ZE 25/50/135mm F2...those are superb!

I think for some lenses that are impossible to find now 21mm the classic is the next best option

Could you recommend a good C/Y adapter for the EF mount? I'm looking at some on amazon, but the negative reviews are pretty horrifying and making me a bit hesitant 👀

Hi Luca, do you think Contax and Classics can match well in contrast and colors?
I had a 50 1.4 Classic that had much denser blacks and was much more saturated than Contax 50 1,7 or any other lens I have, the images were too different than other Contax and Canon.
In some jobs I have had a hard time putting together videos with different lenses.

Ciao Maurizio, I think they can match but the post production will be slower...my 50mm Classic is just a bit sharper and with less vignetting than the C/Y. If you have problems to match your 50m with other Contax lenses, try to use a mattebox to avoid the flares on the C/Y lenses...they can easily lose contrast if a source of light will hit the lenses.

Just checked eBay and the contax 21mm is still well over $1,000.

Yeah, they're a bit pricy. The Zeiss Classic 21mm can be found for 650$ here in Europe

    Hey man!
Do you think there’s enough difference to justify the purchase of a vintage Kit and à ZE modern Kit?
One for commercials and more modern shoots, the other for more creative and vintage looks?

Hi Adrien, no I wouldn't buy both sets of lenses. You'll be good with each set of lenses.
For creative and vintage look I would buy the Russian lenses
