    That looks like good gear

I've used alcohol stoves stove for over 20 years without problem. My current set up is a slightly modified mini trangia. I've recently looked at gas canisters stoves and was surprised at the light weight of some. The Jetboil Stash is only about 205 grams (obviously this doesn't include gas).

Nice setup Brian. Where do you buy your rehydrates meals from?

Thank you, I make them myself. Please check out the article I wrote about it here:

Interesting setup - but in your gear video - you were going back to a canister stove 😊

      Hi Hans,
I have experimented with a lot of gear over the years. I want the most practical and lightest gear available. I have 4 shelters, 3 backpacks, lots of quilts & a couple of sleeping bags, several air pads & mats, and lots of different kitchen setups for summer, winter, expedition meals purchased and for my own homemade dehydrated meals like the kitchen setup in this video. BTW this is my preferred and favourite kitchen.
For every hike that I go on I use my spreadsheet with pull-down lists and decide on the best gear suited for the hike. For Lapland 2018 I used another type of kitchen that was a prototype that I tested. But the key for these longer hikes for me is to pack a kitchen that is compact and lightweight.
I wrote this article on the link below back in February 2019. I explain in a bit more detail:
      brianoutdoors.blog/2019/02/24/vargo-bot-700-review/
I was tossing the idea of taking my Vargo BOT-700 with the Soto Windmaster gas stove on my 2019 Lapland trip.
Then I had a Stormin Pothugger windshield made for the Vargo BOT-700. This worked out real well using alcohol as fuel:
      brianoutdoors.blog/2019/03/27/skaneleden-sl5-sections-9-12-13-14/
However, things change and I changed my mind and decided on the most compact and lightest kitchen I have, although the gas burner is not light. The Soto Windmaster has a small igniter on it and thus doesn’t require a lighter or matches. It also doesn’t require a wind shield either as it is almost impossible for strong winds to extinguish the flame. The concave design of the burner head creates the effect of a built-in windscreen.
It was easier for me to dispose of the unused gas canister on the 2019 Lapland trip than it was when I had half of a 500ml soda bottle of alcohol fuel before my flight home from Kiruna in 2018.
To try to answer your question, no I didn't go back to a canister stove because I never stopped using one. I just use the right bit of gear for the hike that I'm going on suited for the location and conditions. Make sense?

    “Screw you trail designs”?

I have two Trail Designs Sidewinder Titanium Tri-Fuel Cone Systems. One for my 600 ml Evernew pot and one for the 1.5 ltr. They are a nice bit of kit. Unfortunately, you can't seem to buy them here in Europe so Stormin Stove Systems are a great alternative and are made in the EU. The Trail Designs are way too expensive to import to EU from USA as we have to pay sales tax + customs import fees. Thanks for commenting.
