Claude Akins was the quintessential underrated actor. He was much better than the industry gave credit for. He did many different roles and characters.
As a kid I grew up watching this show with my brothers. My dad had just purchased a color TV with the rotating antenna.Claude Atkins and the green KW was the bomb back then
I love this show as a kid & bj & the bear trucking run in my family got my commercial driver license at 15 years old been in trucking every since now I am 55 years old
Claude Akins was a terrific actor who could play anything as was Frank Converse, LQ Jones is in this episode I see, Another fine actor who played many roles including the trucking movie White line fever with Jan Michael Vincent, Sadly Jones passed in July, I remember Movin On as a kid growing up, I'd love to have the DVD set to add to my collection.
I watched this show religiously back then. I was just finishing high school and trying to decide what I wanted to do. Making a living riding all over the country seemed pretty cool especially since my uncle was an OTR driver. He used to give me copies of Overdrive magazine. I might have done it except you had to be 21 to get the license and by then I was beyond it. But I loved that show. P.S. I also used to love listening to the Charlie Daniel's Road Gang radio show on WWL. I could just picture myself driving along I20 somewhere at 3am listening to Marty Robbins and waiting to pull into the next truck stop. Just never panned out.
There was a new KW dealership that had just opened in Chester, Pa back in the 70's and they had an open house. I begged my Dad, a truck mechanic to go, so we went and the Movin On truck was there.... or one of many they used for filming... but the one that was there had torsion bar susp... typical KW, and a 903 Cummins v8 under the hood... Just stuff I thought of when I saw this vid.
This prog came to UK TV in the 70s......blew my mind...never seen such trucks.....fantastic. Lover American trucks ever since.....saying that....the modern ones are looking quite boring.
I seen this truck in Pennsylvania at a Kenworth dealership at Greensburg the dealership had the title for the unit and a gentleman in Latrobe Pa. Purchased the unit there was a cover over Pruitt name
I saw it running the Parkway East outside of Pittsburgh, around 1975 I think. Latrobe is outside of Pittsburgh. It was running the S Pruitt markings on the door.
That truck was a 1974/season one truck (there were 2) The guy that purchased the truck was killed while riding in the rig.The truck was in a head on crash and was destroyed.Im associated with the creator/executive producer of Mpvin'On.
The trucks seen in this episode are 1975 units.(There were 2) The truck you saw was a 1974 unit owned by a guy living near Greensburg PA.The truck you saw was destroyed in 1999 in a head on crash. The owner was Dick Welsh and he died in that crash. My friend owns the other 74 unit.
Woodabeen funny if they arrived with Will driving instead! Almost met Claude back then, but by the time they pulled me from 3rd grade class and me sprinting into town, he had to leave from my Mom's store, but he left his usual autograph - "Best wishes" Claude Akins.
This is one of my favorite Movin' On episodes. Earle Hagen composed the music for this episode. Hagen composed music fo The Andy Griffith Show, I Spy and That Girl, among other series.
I remember the episode where they were on the Cape May -Lewes Fairy, & they ended up dumping the trailer overboard. I didn’t see the whole episode so I’m not sure what the plot was. Just thought it was cool because of spending some time on the Jersey shore in 1976.
From Baltimore to Eternity. It was where Sonny and Will were taking furniture from Baltimore to Atlantic City, but unknown to them, a bomb ended up in their trailer. You can watch the whole series at proclassictv.com.
i bought a brand new kw just like this painted the same but with reds--i was only 25 and my wife the same,1978--we had saved every penny to buy it-$56,000.00 bucks--by the age of 31 we were millionares by investing in real estate with our trucking money--
This was my favorite show back in the day

Acted in a lot of war movies, and was Sherriff Lobo in one of the 80s Truck TV shows
Two of them Beautiful 😍
I got to see the KW in Mobile when they filmed an episode there. Still my favorite show it's part of the reason I drive a truck today
Neat!
As it did with me ,but sadly not driving Kenworths ,but driving Volvos -UK
You even have the right last name!

My grandmother loved this show. She worked for Greyhound Van Lines. Said the truckers were just like Sonny and Will.
Always Watched this as A Kid.

This show was a big influence for my 40 year career.of "TRUCKING IT UP"
I saw them filming in Maryland on the Key Bridge I-695 approach before it was open.
beautiful movie 🎥 and trucks 🚚
I drove a w9 like that in '78-'79. Blue paint job. 400 hp cumalong, 5x4 tranny.
You know it's gonna be good when the bongo drums start playing 🤣
Best short lived show that I wish had lasted longer.

Awsum show watched it when I was. A kid
Claude Akins was made for that role.
I'VE SPENT 42 YEARS DRIVING TRUCK THINK CAUSE I WATCH THIS SHOW 😆👍🏻

Wow! I didn't know that the guy who composed the music for this episode also worked on The Andy Griffith Show!
They spent more time "drop the box" than hauling loads...but I liked the show
Would LOVE to have that Datsun now
There was more than one Sonny Pruitt Kenworth. There were backups to the main show rig. This scene was likely using two of the back-up rigs.
Good old shows. Big wheels rolling moving on good old Claude Akins. Perkins.🚛🚚⛟🛣⛽🍔🌭🥪🍲🥘🍳.🤙🏾✋🏽👍🏽🤘🏾🙏🏽💪🏽🙋🏽♂️😊😎.
UNDERSTANDING. THATS. WHAT. MADE THIS. SHOW. SO. GREAT CHARTERS. WHO. USED. UNDERSTANDING. NOT. VIOLENCE
懐かしいね!日本では「爆走トラック16トン」「トラック野郎BJ」に出演していた俳優だ。ネイティブアメリカンやメキシコ人っぽい?めっちゃ濃い顔で悪役が似合ってる。

I can't help but think that Hal was inspired by this show to make all the S & B movies a couple of years later. Anyone agree?
Robin Williams 😆
Nice!
How is this video getting so popular all of a sudden??
Was that Robin Williams first role?
No, he starred in other shows and movies before Mrs. Doubtfire.
@@TheNWClassA1218 this clip was many years before Mrs Doubtfire.
At 5:41 is that Robin Williams?
One more thing. Ely (Carolina Foamer/NSRailfanner8114) took down the Tales of NS Episodes just like what Mark (Tidewater312) did with TWC
I know. But I didn't like that series, it was half-assed, lacked effort and plotlines, and all it was was bad characters screwing up.
I always wondered why they put the V8 cummins in that truck nobody liked them
We had one in a Pete, gutless engine, gutless.
Hence the nickname “ Nine -0- Nothing “, come on!
My kid show
b j and the bear 🐻
