Based on a true story, Kurt started off playing drums, Flea was a snobbish classical music enthusiast, and here they are rocking out and having fun. in Brazil? I think where the hell was this, Rio
Flea actually played the trumpet before he ever picked up a bass. "Prodigy" may be a bit of a strong work, but he was apparently really talented at the trumpet when he was younger
People going on about how badly played or sung this is are missing the point of punk. It's not meant to be perfect. It's supposed to be rough, messy and passionate.
lacrahuntingtonYeah I guess it is. Dan Peters from Mudhoney came up with it to describe their sound. Slidgy punky and slowed down. The ethos of punk is basically that anything goes as long as it hasd passion. Thats how Ive always seen it anyway :)
Lol wtf I randomly thought to my self have the chili peppers n nirvana performed together,I immediately look it up on RUclips n well flea playin the mothafuckin trumpet ....ain't that some shit! Lol
The reason I love this video is because it shows how seriously musicians actually take their music. Every band plays their song like it's completely natural but then here Flea is so intense you can see his dedication to this song.
Just when you think you've seen every video with Kurt Cobain in it, something like this pops up and you instantly cream your panties with excitement because Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Flea sharing a stage is just to Fucking much
I find it funny that Kurt didn't like this song so got Flea to play trumpet thinking it would wreck it, but in my opinion this is one of the best live versions haha!
I love how Flea shows respect and class to playing here and is 100% committed. He's always committed but it's easy to overlook it when he's running around like a madman on stage.
Ohh yeah, does he have to to become a legend? hehehe geez Kurt is not all about talents and skills you know. You don't understand Kurt and Nirvana so pls just stop bitchin' about it. Yeah enjoy your Nicki Minaj music.
MadRussianGuy come on man dont say suck stupid things, nirvana is shit at technique but they created a whole new world in music . and how can you say slipknot is worse??? what bands do you like? slayer?? come on man
What people don't understand is, you can't compare nirvana to any other band. Nirvana was something totally out of the blue. Agreed, they lacked technique,Kurt wasn't the best singer in the world, half the time lyrics didn't mean shit, the songs weren't so complex. Nirvana was a band consisting of elements that didn't stand for shit on their own but when combined, it was epic. they created music that's rocking the world even now.
MadRussianGuy honestly, they were untalented when it came to the guitar end (except for pat, he is an amazing rhythm guitarist), but krist on bass was quite an awesome thing to here, Dave is easily one of the best drummer's of all time, and Kurt was also one of the best singers and songwriters ever. They all clicked, and were super tight, and left an amazing legacy for music... Considering all of those factors, I wouldn't say they were shitty at all
I get the feeling that if they would've given Flea a bit more notice, he could've contributed more. It felt like they caught him off guard, told him to come out on stage & he quickly grabbed a horn & did what he could. Regardless, an unbelievable cameo from a member of one of my favorite bands joining my all time favorite band on stage. RIP Kurt 1967-1994
Scott Phillips? Mike Portnoy? Chad Smith? But you're right, Dave Grohl is fuckin awesome, as drummer of Nirvana and as frontman of Foo Fighters as well

Fuckin sick. Thanks for posting. Thats the first time ive been able to sit through this whole tune since before he died, partially due to the fact that i played my copy to death the week it came out. This is so tight, most of these kids cant even grasp it. If you dont get it, you dont get it, but this is amazing. Sorta like,"If you ask, youll never know."
Only a man as great as Flea can say he's played a trumpet solo for Nirvana.
Adam Smith yup

Flea, a bassist from a funk-rock band, somehow (using a trumpet) turned grunge into ska...Beautiful.
He played trumpet when he was a kid before he started playing bass
And when RHCP was just starting to hit it big, Nirvana was one of their opening bands, along with Pearl Jam.
+Callum Davage no the mid 80's RHCP were just sex crazed musicians. They made it big in '89/'90 with Mothers Milk and internationally in '91 with BSSM
Daniel Pedić ... and of course he can't help but dance! Love Flea! ❤
Skrunge!
Flea must of been like "I'm here to play bass" and Krist was like "Fuck off I play bass... Give him a horn or something"
Flea actually played the trumpet before he ever picked up a bass. "Prodigy" may be a bit of a strong work, but he was apparently really talented at the trumpet when he was younger
@@Sleeves04 You're right, actually he wasn't even interested on rock back when he studied the trumpet
@@Sleeves04 he’s just tearin that trumpet up at the end. So good. Just a tasteful musician

Flea is God, Krist doesn't hold a candle to Flea on bass lol
it makes me happy that Cobain liked Flea.. why did I never know this
RHCP made a song about Cobain too, search "Tearjerker". RHCP and Nirvana were good friends!

2024, is anyone still watching?
Yep, at midnight
Flea ended the solo too quickly lmao he did a good job at faking the last part of it tho.
Nope, he played the entire solo. Just went free style at the end, when the guitar usually rings out on one note for a while
2:45 i think flea pulled a groin muscle...
So that's why they would never play Smells like teen spirit again...
They alone couldn't make it this awesome again.
wow adding the trumpet is comical genius in every setting.
