Good case for an open and closed lawsuit. They are probably going to lose their house, their savings, and the rest of their collection if they have one.
No they are right it could have gone worse it’s still bad 4 students died but think about all those lives on the line less deaths are better than more think about it most school shooter at least kill entire classrooms
Unfortunately for many they will suffer living in A relatively free country. America was not created to be the safest, it was created to maintain individual rights and freedom. This shooting will always occur in America, and it is the price we pay to be free.
The parents showed NO responsibility towards this kid. They totally brought him up the wrong way. Apparently neither parent was brought up the right way either. I hope they throw the book at them. It will be heart wrenching for the friends of the kids who lost their lives but mostly for the families of those that lost their children. Our children are NOT safe in schools. We need help and we need our schools made safer.
@@cynthiap1927 No, they aren’t. At least not as much as the parents. From what I can tell, the school found the drawings within hours before the shooting, reported it to the parents (who did nothing) and then the teachers sent him back so that he didn’t miss any class time. For all they knew the student was just playing a practical joke with the drawings. (We of course now know that this is not true, but the school didn’t know that at that time.)
@@bluehoodieproductions1634 They should have searched his belongings. History has given enough examples of this kind of stuff that it should not ever be taken lightly.
@@cynthiap1927 What do you mean searched his stuff? It all happened within hours of each other and there wasn’t that much to be suspicious of, at least at the time. We now know that the drawings were a part of it but at the time it was just a weird drawing. They can’t search the backpack of anyone and everyone that does something even remotely wrong, weird, or creepy. Would it have been good to do in this case? Yes. But should every school search the bag of any and every kid that does something even remotely bad or creepy?
This is just as serious and unforgivable as leaving all those people in Afghanistan! Whatever you throw at these people make sure Biden gets it too! The fool jackwipes playing Mr. President and Bureaucrats for that unconscionable sorry ass LOSER as well!
The fact that we are so desensitized that four people are dead and we say “it could have been worse” so many kids who did survive are traumatized and so many families will never see their child/family member. No for them it couldn’t be worse.
I grew up around guns and have been hunting since I was old enough to have memories.. Never been around someone that used a gun irresponsibly. It's all about what you teach your children about the firearm and the power that comes with wielding one. It's not to be abused, but to be respected and treated with the utmost of care. So happy to see the parents have been arrested and charged! They enabled all the switches for this situation to happen.
Bruh I just figured out the parents bought the gun for him as a Christmas gift and ignored disturbing drawings he drew of his gun, thankfully the parents are being held accountable
The parents are absolutely culpable but so is the principle of the school. He should not have been allowed to remain in the school that day, after what teachers saw and reported. If the parents refused to take him, then the cops should have been called.
As a student myself in Michigan, not only are those students traumatized ALL the schools in Michigan are. I was taking finals today and all I hear over the loudspeaker is that we will be having police all over our building because we had a shooter threat. I go to school to learn not worry about if I’m gonna come home afterwards or not. It’s heartbreaking.
I think charging the parents is exactly the right thing to do in this case. They knew their kid wasn't mature enough to have access to a gun. It is very sad I can't imagine what the family's are feeling right now. In my opinion the law is handling it in the right manner maybe if more parents are held accountable for the actions of their kids they would pay closer attention to what their kid is doing. There needs to be very harsh consequences for this family it's time to make people accountable
I totally agree. I'd love to see this be done across the country or a federal law that this is how it's handled. If parents have reason to think THEY face consequences or jail for not actually pulling a trigger it would absolutely change how guns are stored in many homes. Not all of course.
Absolutely agree. This would no different if a farming family left potentially explosive or hazardous materials unsecured that a violent child would then use to murder people.
@@chunkchips4554 Agreed. Plus, the school was telling them of all the warnings they saw. They chose to ignore it and still keep that gun available to him.
It makes me feel SUPER guilty for living so far till 43, like these kids didn't even get to live their lives, and here I am at 43. It's just not fair. My heart is broken :(
Take away school! Haha, some 14 and 15 year olds died this year in motorcycle racing and they're trying to limit the age at when you can race at certain levels. Irrelevant but reminds me of that thought process.
My deepest condolences to the parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncle‘s, cousins, friends, and heartbroken citizens… This tragedy should have never occurred. God give you peace and Comfort knowing he holds all of these victims in his loving arms.
As someone who lives in one of the safest towns in my state, I never had to worry about this. This shows me how lucky I am to go to school and not have to worry about being killed. Condolences to the families of the killed, injured, grieving, and anyone working with the case!
Two words: Newton, Connecticut. Two more words: Littleton, Colorado. Look up their crime stats. Safe places to live and yet the site of two of the biggest shootings.
@@KILLER7RAZE That’s not true. I’m just saying that my school is highly equipped with security and I feel safe and lucky to go to school and not have to worry about intruders.
@@Galworld761 My town has been the safest town in my state for 20+ years. We’ve never had any crime whatsoever (I’ve talked to cops multiple times) in my town. Me and the people in my town have never had to worry about our safety when it comes to being at school. That’s all I was trying to get across.
No one wants to address the elephant in the middle of the room... Why did they feel so comfortable not reporting his behaviors and/or social media posts the day before this all happened. I have watched seven year old children put in handcuffs in their schools for simply having a tantrum. Make it make sense. But nobody can't tell me that this nation is not deteriorating and disintegrating before our very eyes. It's upside down, and there's more to come, unfortunately.
Im assuming you are comparing a violet little black girl who was punching and spitting and attacking teachers daily on school ground to a kid who was most likely bullied daily kept to himself had no friends and no one took him serious. Definitely not the same situation
Charge the parents! As a gun owner myself you need to be responsible for securing your firearms which includes being held responsible if they fall into the wrong hands because of your negligence. Edit: Well this kinda blew up but I just felt the need to add that this shouldn’t be political. Political views are irrelevant in this situation. I’m all for the second amendment but as a wise man with a spider for a nephew once said, “with great power, comes great responsibility.” If you choose to own a gun you also carry the responsibility of what happens to that gun if it falls into the wrong hands because you didn’t secure it properly. I think that in the 2A lifestyle/community all agree that the majority of gun owners try to be responsible and people like this make the rest of the responsible gun owners look bad.
Drilled firearm safety into my boys as soon as they were old enough to be curious- wish that every parent practiced safe firearm storage. God help the parents who lost children to this BS situation.
This is why you don't pick on, embarrass, bully someone that could come back and put you 6 feet under. The parents need to held accountable for everything he does with that gun, and in my opinion, serve the same amount of time.
This is not the first time I've heard and read school shooting cases by students in the US. In our schools, where we've got a lot fraternity wars and or gang wars but as much as they want to bring firearms at school for that purpose, it wont be easy since our bags and pockets are being inspected by a security. There could be deeper factors why such incident happens, but there are also a lot of ways to prevent this from happening. After one case, all schools should have included this in their lists of worst case scenarios, and have made a security procedure on this.

This is definitely a parental issue. Regardless of how you feel about guns or gun safety. This kid was obviously either not taught or not capable of understanding the value of life and the finality of death. I have a hard time believing that the parents didn't see this lack of basic respect and decency towards others manifest itself in other ways in the last 15 years of living with that child. I can't believe that a responsible person would give anyone any sort of weapon knowing that individual had issues.
@@billybob2329 But the school did raise red flags though. They literally talked to the both the kid and his parents about his odd behavior both the day before and the day of the shooting. The school knew something wasn’t right with him and that’s why they spoke with all of them. They literally explained this in the video.

“Wasn’t mature enough to have a gun, he didn’t know any better” yeah a young naive kid doesn’t think to kill everyone at school the first chance they get, that’s just a stupid statement
Am I the only one who gets angry when they say, "He had no prior brush with the law." Well, he is 15 years old and he had to start somewhere. A lot of people kill for the first and last time in their lives. What did you expect, for him to start by stealing and work his way up to murder?
well at least the news can do great reports on the kid and get more views and stuff.....then this kid can be happy that everyone feels what an evil bastard he is....I bet he loves all this attention....

Any rational parent would have said, “My kid is having behavioral issues and showing signs of depression in school. Maybe I should take away his gun right now.” Based on the information available, their negligence is to blame for a lot of this happening. That 15 year old kid should’ve never had a gun. Could he have gotten one illegally and hit it from his parents still? Perhaps. Then it would be all on him. But the fact that his parents knew he had this gun means they could’ve done their part by taking it away and they didn’t.
Not from the states, but as a high school student, to imagine that you could breathe your last in a day at school and your life could be taken by someone sitting right next to you is so scary. I empathize with the survivors and mourn for the lost souls
They have actual training videos in schools on what to do in the event of an active shooter. That’s what it comes down to in this country. I can’t imagine the toll these shootings take on the psyches of the survivors
Lost Wild & Free bullshit! You need to learn what real danger is. No one is scared when they leave their house. Stop lying to people! We are a massive country with a lot of people. The odds of being involved in something like this is extremely rare. Even in cities where violence is condensed they are not scared and do little to change things. You are fooling yourself by dumbing yourself down with internet and national news. You sit and watch news about violence all day you think stupid things like that. People false have the impression it’s a war zone because people like you being dramatic. Most people are not seeing a gun every day and most people will never see violence like this in their life in this country.
School officials are covering their behinds. If his past teachers were interviewed, you might find he has demonstrated concerning behavior for years. Schools, and teachers, are sooo afraid of liability.
Some of you are looking for excuses for this entitled little punk. This society has abandoned accountability and embraced entitlement. Many of us survived bullying in our lives and when we were bullied, our first inclination was not to go to school, kill our classmates or to our workplace and do the same. Let's just say, God forbid, a member of YOUR family was killed right now in similar circumstances and You read a post written by some sympathetic mental midget defending this cold blooded assassin justifying his actions because of "alleged" bullying, would you be inclined, to then feel like your child's death was warranted? NO! Mr Crummy needs to be held accountable on every charge; his parents as well.
My hometown is only 30 minutes away from where this happened and 15 minutes from my apartment. I’m so terrified to get a call that someone is shooting up my siblings school. Every school in Michigan is getting threats right now and no one can tell real from fake it’s so terrifying.
When my kid was bullied in middle school, I removed her from that school and started her in a new school! Bullying is not an excuse for murder! I feel so bad for the parents that no longer have the children that they love! 💔🙏
I really appreciate your story. It is so sad your daughter has to carry those scars .. Most schools don’t take bullying as serious as they should . All bullies belong in one school. Where they fight each other and leave the kids who want to go to school to learn and play sports ..
Children tend to be brute, and even more when they have so much internet and stuff to gain information about to how punish the people they are surrounded by. The parents are to blame
Uhh, if he was bullied, he may have been neglected and not moved to a different school. I have seen so many comments like this. I can literally tell you're ignorant.
Every time I see stuff like this, just reminds me of how lucky I was to be I'm school for how long I was and never had to experience this , my heart goes out to the victims, the students and their families!

I live in Michigan and we have had many gun scares just last month. this is a real thing and we just had a 2 hour lock down. it’s was so scary and i hope no one ever has to go through this. pray for these people. But in the game Michigan scored 42 points i think it is god trying to speak to us. Condolences to the parents of any kids hurt, injured, or who experienced this. God bless
How many times have we heard this..."OH, if only we could have seen the signs" or...."We didnt see the signs in time"....WELL! This one had HUGE signs waving like a flag in a windstorm. The drawing he made in class that the teacher saw and took a photo of, the behavior, the teachers doing the right thing in intervening, seeing the signs, seeing the concern, but for what? A talk with parents and then sent back to class, regardless of the flag waving signs right in front of them. The teachers started doing the right thing, and then dropped the ball. Yes, in this case, there was major signs that he had the thoughts of shooting someone. This was SO avoidable. But sadly, that is all in hindsight now.
You’re right it’s one major flag but it’s not enough. One drawing is not enough. Think about it what would you do if some kid across from you was drawing guns?
School administration is in charge, not the teachers. The administration let the student stay in the building. That would not have been up to his teachers.
My question is what leads up to this? Definitely should not have happened!! And praying for all the victims!!!! And there families!!! Was the shooters in most of these cases mistreated by other students and others and parents?
“It could’ve been much worse.” No, this is bad, this is the worse. Every time this happens it’s the worse. The fact that this could have been prevented makes it the worst. This is worse case scenario bc the parents were notified about his behavior, the school tried to do SOMETHING and yet this POS still took lives. People died. This IS the worse. Don’t say that.

It's appalling, that school authorities and authorities in general do not recognize disorders in people no matter how young or old they are, to the point that they actually engage themselves to get these People some help all the while, keeping them under close supervision, as a protection to those around them at all times. My opinion might be unpopular but listen. I was bullied in high school but was too afraid to do anything. This is a lesson for everyone. Disgusting bullies have to learn that not all victims will just curl up and cry. Parents should be more receptive towards their children and understand what they're going through. All of this can be prevented if the parents had taken necessary action. In addition to that, the parents just left a frikkin 9mm around a kid that's been showing doubtful behaviour???!! Wtf it's unbelievable. Most of y'all would refuse to agree with me but the parents need to receive the same sentence as the boy because of negligence. I suffer bullying as well almost all my life and that ended until college and I never thought in kill the bullies, this isn't only about bullying... there is something deeper, the prosecutor is responsible of finding the motives, he was found with the gun and shooting but that's not enough, I hope the prosecutor actually does her job and doesn't take the easy way of saying he did it due to suffer bullying. I hope she interviews his classmates, teachers, family friends , neighbors, friends, ex friends, and a huge investigation in his bedroom, devices , etc because something deeper is happening with him...

I’m a junior in high school and we had to go over lock down drills again today it’s really sad especially since the people who have access to the school most likely know our drills
I saw a video from a classmate of the shooter saying that he(the shooter) had been coming to school depressed for days(or maybe weeks) and the day of the shooting the parents had a meeting with counselors and they still decided to keep the child in school. See i think this shooting exposed something about the school system, that mental health is not taken serious enough. What they should of done is recommended he take a week or maybe a month of school and set him up with therapists and possibly medication. I think there should be a mental health facility in place at highschools, middle schools, and elementary schools where students can go and work with someone cuz yknow sure they have options outside of school but there really needs to be a safe space for kids to go to during and after classes.
Or they could have talked to him, as a person who has depression, medicine just makes you have no feelings and your basically a Zombie, and therapists do nothing but act like they know what you've been through, when I'm depressed I play games, like cod and Farcry, or talk to friends on Social Media, which is ironic since this apparently causes stuff like what happened

Kids usually don't have records of being bullied, no problems in school, straight A student but when this kind of tragedy happens it's usually a bad one.
They do in some schools they document if something like bullying, abuse, theft, or sexual assault happens. That's how kids end up getting expelled with the 3 strike rule. Not all schools do that though. I knew 4 kids from my school get kicked out for the stuff above. It looks like this school didn't expel him for violent threats. One of my classmates was expelled for putting a pipe bomb in the school bus. What a moron. But the fact the school didn't expel him says a lot. Apparently he was planning this for months from other things posted online. So this could've been stopped before.
15 years old is too young for any person to handle or possess a firearm. No child should ever have a firearm, period. The parents failed this child miserably. They should be charged with criminal negligence and corrupting the morals of a minor. There are no winners in this situation.
It seems like the kid’s parents had a very permissive way of parenting. They ignored red flags from their child; I know it’s hard to judge since he has no history of criminal behaviour, but now we should learn from each of these shootings to prevent it in the future.
@@lessismore8533 same for me. My mom was strict and even though I hated when she was tough on me sometimes, I'm very thankful she was able to teach me so much. ❤❤❤

Man, these parents dropped the ball on so many levels. I’ve worked with troubled youth for years. One of the first questions I always ask the parents/guardians: “are there any guns I’m the house?” If the answer is yes, I strongly encourage them to remove those weapons from the house. Guess what? No death by firearms with any of the families I work with (and trust me, that happens more than you think).
*When I was a kid* we had tornado drills... we would kneel on the floor, shoulder to shoulder with our heads up against the wall. We would have to hold a big hardcover textbook open, covering our neck and head. We would stay like that for what seemed like forever, but it was likely only 3-5 minutes. We never had to put that drill to use. (I was born in 1991.) *In today’s world,* kids have to practice active shooter drills. I’ve never been part of any type of active shooter drill, so I have no idea what it is like, but the fact that that is even a thing is sad. Then to realize the students may actually have to put the drills to use, is unfathomable. My heart breaks for all the students and families affected by this tragic incident as well as any in the past. Absolutely no child (or parent) should feel unsafe going to school. I won't be surprised if kids will soon have weapons training for guns. Why? They will need to carry their own firearms in order to defend themselves from mass shootings. I'm not kidding.
Idk it sounds like everyone went to terrible school systems based on how people are reacting to this... I recall having active shooter drills after Columbine and also having my belongings searched randomly when the school saw fit. The parents definitely screwed up here but why wasn't the resource officer informed? Or why wasn't the kid at least searched after multiple alarming details came to light? The school informed this child's parents, but their duty is too the entire student body, which they failed when they didn't contact the police. They had more than enough evidence and have more resources than the parents to deal with this. Complete and total failure on their part and they should no longer work for the school, lest they fail more students in the future.
My school had a school shooting threat on Friday and it was terrifying, almost half the school decided not to come and when we heard the announcement bell everyone gasped. (luckily it was just school announcements) Nobody should ever be that afraid to even walk to class.
Fear. And paranoia, wondering who else you let into your life might go off the deep end. Anger at yourself wondering if there was anything you could have done to stop him and/or if you were naive to the signs of this happening.
For those who say there was no evidence of bullying...When I went to highschool I got bullied (not terribly but enough to bother me) it even got to the point where kids joked that I would shoot up the school (which made me feel terrible as that's something I'd never think of doing). I bet the School Administration would say there was no evidence I got bullied too. Obviously I'm not defending this kid but it pains me to see how blind and quick people are to come to their own conclusions. Edit: Damn thanks for the likes all I just wanted to get something off my mind. A few things; Looks like there's still a ton of people fighting the good fight, hopefully us humans can finally find a way to get along. Also, Moonshot and Garden of Eels are unironically acting like school bullies, I'm embarrassed for you guys. Anyone who thinks this kid was born evil or is inherently evil...that's fine, I think you were born dumb. Stay safe all!
I think it's safe to the say the school is just trying to cover themselves and avoid lawsuits for not taking preventative measures. Bullying doesn't justify mass murder but bullying is the root of the problem and time and time again it fails to get addressed.
Same thing happened to me. Graduated in '11. That year a kid that gossiped about me, as most did, pleaded me to not shoot up the school. To this day I still function abnormally due to the avoidant and maladaptive behaviors I learned in high school that helped me cope with ostracization from peers.
Sounds like the kid had the gun with him at the time of the school meeting with his parents that morning. The parents really should have had that gun is a locked, secured location in the house.
Completely, Nina. Locks are so cheap nowadays. They even sell fingerprint systems for less than $150. Damn fucking shame. This mental issue of death and violence is just as bad as COVID in the mind of many young kids.
this is sad in so many ways...my condolences to the victims families....the kid obviously had some deep issues that lead to this and the parents failed to see it. 😪
You know, I got bullied extremely badly in high school. I reported it, nothing was ever done about it, but never once was I ever tempted to bring a gun to school and just start shooting. No rational person would do something like that.

But still this still heavily scares the living daylights out of me because all it takes is just one truly bad day.
There is literally NOTHING rational about a 15 year old. The brain is not done developing, the hormones are out of control, children are horribly cruel. And adults continue to say stupid stuff like "oh i was bullied and never thought of shooting up my school" Its an easy out for responsibility. Raising kids is time consuming, thought consuming and one needs to be fully invested, not assuming everything is fine just because the kid doesn't say anything. EVERYONE KNOWS BULLYING HAPPENS DAILY. I pray for all families involved. As a school employee, I can certainly recognize the efforts made by the school before the tragic events took place. However, given the workload EVERY school employee has on their shoulders today, it’s surprising that they even picked up on the warning signs.
As a parent, we know our kids. Mr. Crumbley's parents knew something was going on with, their son. Those kids were going to school for one thing....an education. Misery loves company. He has forever changed the trajectory of those families and his own. He did a grown-up act and now he needs to pay the grown-up price. I just HATE he had access to guns; where he could determine the price of life. Rest-In-Paradise to those souls.
Parents don't know everything, and i'm still fucking perplexed that they think they do... There is A LOT more that goes on than parents will ever hear of from their kid especially at those ages 13-18. Unless you guys are BFFs legitimately you won't know. Keep an eye out, and for God's Sake Listen to your kid, do it as if they were an adult you have to treat them with that same respect. Be understanding and give advice when they ask, don't be patronizing and don't act high and mighty with them ok that's a good way to shut down that convo fast. We were all kids, we did dumb stuff, we put fun in-front of responsibility so don't act like you didn't in-front of your kid, it's disingenuous. A LOT goes on in a kids life that most parents will ever know, don't think you do, my parents to this day still don't know i tried to take my own life in middle school, because how badly i was shit on at school, ASK THEM! don't think you know whats going on because all you're really doing is assuming, and that's just a goood way to make an ASS out of U and ME and not get anywhere.
Parents pay attention to your kids! Ask questions. Be involved. These kids nowadays are lost, scared, and confused. We live in a cruel world . See something say something!!
Sometimes it’s hard for the bully and bullied to admit about bullying. I was bullied during elementary and high school, I never talked about being bullied about elementary until I was a senior in high school; then the high school bullying was disclosed in late college years.

Kids get sent home for inappropriate clothing, a 6 year old gets arrested at school but this school chose to let this disturbed teenager pick up his backpack and walk class.
When one person dies everyone close to them has a part of them die on the inside. Now imagine that times the number of victims. Even those who weren’t hurt or close to the victims/wounded will always be traumatized. Prayers to all the families
There is so much hatred in this world... heck, you cant even have a civilized arguement with anyone without it becoming a fight. Social media is destroying humanity.
I do like that people are taking some time to try to see why this might have happened.I feel very old sometimes because I just cannot accept that school shootings are happening so often that it is just a normal thing now.I would love to see the state respond by taking action. I am not sure what the answer is, but if it takes metal detectors and security they need to do it.
You might be old. When I reflected on my high school experience we had one school shooting(Columbine). This was only a little over 20 years ago. This generation face different challenges from social media, online bullying, to a society that expose children to the world at a young age.
He didnt look innocent in the elementary school picture, that photo screams "my parents dressed my style so that I could never possibly socially develop with everyone making fun of me". Seriously the parents are 100% at fault here, forget the unsecured firearm piece of it. This has to do with how that kid looks, you cant have friends and look like that. Nobody wants to be seen with him or seen being nice to him so he doesn't think you are his friend. How loners are made.

Would parents be allowed to slap children if he went out of hand?

Edit: Well this kinda blew up but I just felt the need to add that this shouldn’t be political. Political views are irrelevant in this situation.

Not every family can afford counseling for their kid. There should be better resources in schools for mental health.

(I was born in 1991.)
*In today’s world,* kids have to practice active shooter drills.
It’s odd because guns were more prevalent and available a few decades ago. But I keep hearing the prevalence of guns is the cause of this

Fear. And paranoia, wondering who else you let into your life might go off the deep end. Anger at yourself wondering if there was anything you could have done to stop him and/or if you were naive to the signs of this happening.
