Started my day smiling with this post by Russell. The weirdest was the woman breast feeding her cat which she must have done at home too. Was the cat in competition with the woman's baby which apparently got left at home? This bit reminds me of the old guy I'd see at the park and asked him should I get a dog or a wife? He strongly recommended the dog.
Its kind of important to remember that all adult animals should get diarrhea from drinking milk. Humans are an exception in this and even among humans a large part cant digest milk. So this isnt even being good to the cat, its just giving it the wrong food.
This is a fascinating topic. I would say my cats are spoiled, but I wouldn’t go as far as having daily clothes or specialised food for them. The most I’ve done is a $1 bandana or Halloween costume for shits and giggles. That being said, they have top of the line microchip feeders, and we have previously had one of those big wheels. However, all of this combined didn’t exceed $500. At my age, my wife and I make extremely good money and do not have kids. Insurance and vet bills included, I’d say we don’t spend more than $1000 a year on them. At our dual income, that doesn’t even make a scratch on the budget. I think it’s the least they deserve given the comfort they provide to our space.
It's not spoiling. It's projection. Russell is one of the funniest, sincerest comdians and people around. Those who spoil their pets needs very strong medication.
It's not spoiling, it's animal abuse. A birrhday party with a lot of loud soubds ans new people is so stressful for an animal. Everything a dog needs is a wide grass field, something to chase, a nice place to sleep, and a bone to chew... Best day of his life.
@@_JiminyCricket_ If you get a shelter dog that's been there for a bit or get an older dog with a crap previous owner then there isn't much you can do. But as dog owners we're supposed to throw dog housewarming parties as early in their development as possible. Invite people of all shapes and sizes, skin tones, with hats of various shapes and people with glasses. As much variety as you can muster. When I got my husky as a puppy I received all kinds of information from my vet and the breeders that I was oblivious to even though I've had dogs since I was 8. I never threw a housewarming party for my husky because I don't have an eclectic mix of friends but I've taken him on lots of public walks and trails so he's interacted with all sorts of people and dogs.
That dog at the birthday party didn't look stressed at all. No, let's call it what it is, a fucking shameful vanity project for the owner. Imagine what a charity could do with that £5,000.
Honestly, pets can be expensive. I have a rabbit and he probably costs me about £750 per year, on a good year, and that's just on food and vet bills. Last year he cost me £1,200 in vet bills alone.
I get the high chair thing, some dogs do need to sit like that to help their food go down, I forgot what it is called, but to do it to a dog who can eat fine that just silly.
The plastic surgery thing is mad, but I think we should spoil our dogs. My dog is so important to me. I was suicidal when he came into my life, but he saved me. Now he goes with me everywhere. I had a birthday party for him and he was so happy. I could see it on his face. I get him Christmas presents and I take him on adventures. He deserves that much for all the good he has done for me. EDIT: Obviously, don't spoil them as you would spoil a child, because dogs have different needs. Give them a comfy bed, feed them well with all the nutrients they need, keep them warm in the winter, take them on adventures, keep them active, and above all, make them happy.
You do realise dogs are not humans. What you're doing is called "Anthropomorphism", blame Disney for really making it a problem. You "saw it on his face" because you wanted to see it on his face, and that's not a bad thing, but treating him as if he was some sort of furry human child is bad for him. It's great that you found a true friend in your dog, they really are the best thing for us, much more honest and genuine than most humans we meet in our lives, and I think we don't deserve them. But please realise that treating them as if they are somehow human is actually bad for them
@@iffracem To anthropomorphise something, that something has to be inanimate. My dog is a sentient being, who possesses emotions, intelligence, and a distinct personality.
Bring the sketches back Russell, was what completed good news for me, if you had done a skit for half of them it would of been a game changer. Hilarious stuff as always though.
Great video Russell. To be fair this isn't surprising when people humanise animals so much, the distinction between child and animal comes blurred. There's something definitely wrong with the human species.
Agreed! But also, the thought of treating a human child like that is also horrifying to me! It's unfortunate that humans struggle to be receptive to the natural needs of others, and project so much.
I mean it’s not really spoiling, it’s more abuse. It’s okay to spoil your dog, but only with a new toy. A couple years ago, my dog had surgery, the vet said she might try bite the stitches, so we got her a sweater to cover it. It’s not fashion or colourful, it’s red. She had it on for like three months. She didn’t mind. Also I really love this bit 2:03 - 2:09
Me spoiling my very small dog: 1.Expensive high quality dog food that costs more than my grocery shop each month 2. A bath maybe 4 times a year 3. Raincoat for when its raining 4. Knitted jumper for when shes really cold and shivering 5. Snow/rough terrain boots to help support her with her one short leg. Maybe you could argue a knitted hat for small, thin fur and thin ear dogs in the winter but the cowboy hats and itchy dresses is too far because then its about you and not the dog.
My local gym now does 'doggy ice-cream' and the 'puppacino' (which is -- yes, I kid you not -- *frothy coffees* for DOGS.) Because yeah, THIS is what dogs have been sadly deprived of all their lives..?? Mind you, the doggy golf fan reminded me of my cat, who used to love snooker on the tv. Every time a ball dropped into one of the pockets she would stick her paw underneath the tv in line with the pocket and waggle it around, ready to 'catch' the snooker ball.
I sincerely doubt there is any actual coffee in that. Coffee contains the same chemical as chocolate, which can be fatal to dogs. Sherpa the husky gets puppacinos but it's just whipped cream. I would speak to a manager and insure there is no actual coffee being given to pets. Even decaf isn't okay. If they aren't sure, explain the risk.
I've got 2 cats and I make me own toys, simple stuff cut some carrier bags and wrap twine in the middle and get a stick from outside and do some knots! They love it along with scrunched up foil/paper, feathers from outside and toilet roll with favourite treats in that you fold so they rip them apart! Mindboggling how I used to waste so much money at pets at home!!
I spoilt my GSDs by taking them swimming every weeks at a hydrotherapy centre for fun and fitness. They loved it, and it kept them very strong, fit and healthy,
I used to buy my dog jackets and clothes but he was a chihuahua and needed them in winter. He had a top quality dog food, and when he suddenly started having seizures he had meds and regular vet appointments so i did spend more on him than the average pet. He also got lots of toys cause he liked them and id replace them when they got wrecked or if he peed all over them when he had a seizure and lost control of his bladder. He had a couple of beds around the house and i did buy him a little bowtie that his collar went through, but he only wore that bowtie a few times cause he didnt wear a collar at home and i normally used a harness on him anyway. ("Glittery burrito" 😂😂) His most expensive jacket was like $80, but it was made in my country, and was high quality and would last him years longer than it ended up lasting becausr sadly i had to get him put down (but he had it for 4 years already before then). I dont think theres a problem with dying their fur as long as its pet-safe because dogs dont really care and they get groomed if thats needed for their breed anyways. They often get sprayed with a petsafe 'cologne' at the groomers but that wears off fast is probably nicer than 'wet dog'. I used to make Thor a 'birthday cake' which was just a meatball with a piece of cheese as a 'candle' (not on fire lol). Getting your dog married is weird, same as paying for parties where you get a stripper 😂 but if you want to buy them fancy bowls for their food then go for it. I will say, some dogs do need a special type of 'highchair' because they cant eat normally they have to be in this certain position to swallow. But i do think some people now are putting more money into their pets cause they arent having kids - no problem woth that, i dont want kids - but they can use a bit of income on pets as opposed to more income that youd spend on a kid. 'Chonky' pets upsets me, thats abusive to overfeed then for 'cuteness'. Its not cute, its killing them.
I tried to spoil my cat - I bought her an expensive floofy bed and a realistic bird toy as a 'just because you deserve it' gift. She hates the bird and ignores it and has put 2 paws in the bed and sleeps in the box it came in
Suddenly I want to see a propeller on a budgie....not wanting to be mean or anything but just for the fun of it like some mad pet owner saying "Mr tweetums needs help getting up on the to the water dish.....a propeller would help"
i thought my dog was spoiled, he gets a treat after hes been out in the evning a minty chew at bedtime. he also gets a toy or treats at christmas and other peoples birthdays he just loves to open gifts and i think it is a bit much he does have a coat if its snowing or tipping down too
My dog get treats every day and he is really happy being spoiled. He loves our shopping trips have friends in all the shops who are allowing dogs. I give him the best food, best treats, have plenty clothes and I don't want him to suffer. :))
95% of the 10 billion spent on animals is on vet bills I guarantee it. To get ear drops for our dog it cost us like £80 but we went into pets at home and found the same ones for literally £12.
I've never been on board with dressing animals in cutesie clothing - a jacket for the dog if it's raining, but not one with sleeves and matching hankie and tie. Animals have dignity, or they should have. If these people want to play dress-up, let them use dolls, or themselves. Not animals, not their children, who also deserve dignity.
Look I love my cat. He is the worlds most sweetest floof but it stops at getting him the nicer treats and the wet food he likes. The day I start dressing him up and throwing parties for him is the day that I officially have lost whats left of my sanity.
I felt like a loon the other week because I had to buy my cat what is essentially a onesie to keep him from licking himself raw. Yes, I had to buy my cat pajamas.
But you did it for a valid reason, you were doing it to improve your cat's quality of life, that's a great thing. These arsehats are doing it for their own idiotic vanity, and making the animals life worse for it.
@@_JiminyCricket_ Possibly, I'd say it's more they get used to it, and esp in dogs will put up with it as they know it makes the human happy for some reason. But except for hairless breeds, reasons like Vera mentioned, and some short coated dogs to ward against the cold, it's most likely not needed and something we humans force on them. I had a boxer for 13 years, brilliant dog, he actually preferred to be outside in winter for most of his life, but took it as his duty to be inside protecting his family at night. Despite being short coated he hated any sort of protection against what I thought was cold. I knew he was getting on when he started to prefer being inside in front of the heater.
I stuck a cone on mines head when she was poorly since she kept trying to lick the wound. She didn't like the cone, but I warned her if she kept licking.. 🤷♀️ eventually got her to the vet and they sorted it out, as the product came from them that caused it, the vet bill for the steroid injection was wiped.
To be honest, some of it is taking it too far, sometimes even "abusing" (for the lack of a better word) but it doesn't hurt when it's useless. Many jobs are created especially for dogs now. A huge economy is created about dogs. So no, I think we should keep paying a lot of money on our pets if we have the money. I buy mine many many treats, many toys, get him to day care that is quite expensive, I get him to the groomer several times a year. If there were other services, like swimming pools for dogs, cafes for dogs to meet etc. I would be happy and spend my money on that. After that, I understand the argument that some go to far and that when it hurts the dog, it should stop. Just saying that the amount of money spent shouldn't be seen as a bad thing.
I get it though...nowadays it seems like we only ever get bad news...I mean it would seem that the world is now a dumpster fire so people want to focus on something good something positive and what is more positive then a dog?? Dogs don't judge you, tell you the world is ending and all the things you do wrong they just give you unconditional love......
True. But that's no excuse for projecting emotional needs on to a dog, pretending they are human, and disregarding the nature of their species. Talking to a dog is one thing, because dogs are social animals who communicate with sound, but more than that is not going to meet, but mask a dog's needs.
Someone bought my poor old dog (she's no longer with us) a doggy parka once so I gave it a go. Lol, I can just picture her face I don't know if she was horrified or just plain pissed off.🤣
None of that shit is for the animal, it's for the gratification of the owner. If I want to spoil my dogs I give them a bone or a treat, take them to the woods . That's what they really want not stupid bloody costumes 💜🐾💜🐾
I always feel sorry for the animals (handbag rats) like reggie and romeo bought to be accessories. Yes they might be looked after better than some family pets but what joy does the owner get from them as a living creature.
I love Russ but he's got this not quite right. The nose jobs and face lifts are typically medical veterinary treatment for brachycephalic breeds that can't breath properly 😕
Oh! Yes, that's a point well made that I forgot. Thanks for your comment! But ultimately it would be best if people didn't buy, and thereby promote, the over-bred dogs who suffer so much. 😔
Thats what I was thinking. Breeds like Bulldogs and pugs need this kind of surgury as we have breed them this way. I think the article had a misleading headline.
Don't agree with buying clothes for animals unless they're hi-vis vests for service dogs, or those really small things with hardly any hair - they could probably do with a coat in winter. I had a border collie, a cocker spaniel and a rottweiler. Those dogs do not need coats 😂 probably enough malting to make a coat

Insane how people say they love animals and at the same time brutaly torture them. It so messed up
Probably the same people that insist they love you after stalking you for months, breaking into your house and are about to cut your love plums off so they can plant them and grow your baby's... my point is they're delusional as all fuck
They don't love them
That kind of thing is not for the dog, but for the owner
Okay, so I do spoil my dogs by buying them lots of toys, playing with them as much as possible all day, cuddling up with them at night (and in the day when I am working), giving them a warm shower when they get muddy (usually just with warm water, but sometimes special dog shampoo and conditioner if extra cleaning is needed), and baking and cooking for them a couple times a week (vet-approved, appropriately portioned meals and treats). And yes, I have given my puppy a bunch of my socks and expensive blankets since for some reason he loves stealing my socks out of the laundry basket, and he deserves nice comfy blankets to keep him warm. And yes, I do give them presents at Christmas, but they consist of nothing more than a stocking or box or bones and toys (which they get year round anyway). And they love unwrapping the box as much as they do some of the toys! I also buy games designed to stimulate them mentally, and have trained my puppy to push a button when he wants to play, so it’s easy for him to communicate that to me. I even organise play dates for my dog with his best friend (another dog we met in the park).
So anyway, I am definitely someone who likes to spoil my pets, and I realise that I probably do so more than most. However, I would never dress them up, and all the other stuff here sounds absolutely nuts, even to me.
If you spoil a dog, you should spoil them buy enriching their life AS A DOG. A dog isn’t going to be stimulated or interested in magicians and strippers, they’re just going to be confused. You’re basically just throwing a party for yourself and using your dog as an excuse if that’s what you’re doing. If you really wanted to treat your dog, you could instead have spent that money on a visit to a new, interesting location, with lots of new smells and places to explore - like a beach, a woodland path, or a new park. You could bring a picnic basket and blanket and take breaks to give them cuddles, play with their favourite toys, and give them their favourite foods for lunch as a nice treat (vet approved - dogs cannot eat the same things that we eat! Their food needs to be tailored and portioned according to their needs. And don’t forget to bring a bowl and plenty of water for when they get thirsty if you are making a day of it!). You could even arrange it as a play date if they have another dog who is a friend, so the two can run around and explore together.
That is the kind of thing that a dog would love and find really special.
A birthday party or hen do will be completely boring to your dog at best, or - more likely - stressful and confusing for them.
Treat your dog, by all means, but remember that they are a dog, and your special treatment of them needs to be tailored to their canine instincts - not your human ones.

Oh, my word! The dog watching golf was hysterical .😂
The dog reacting to golf was my favourite bit
Started my day smiling with this post by Russell. The weirdest was the woman breast feeding her cat which she must have done at home too. Was the cat in competition with the woman's baby which apparently got left at home? This bit reminds me of the old guy I'd see at the park and asked him should I get a dog or a wife? He strongly recommended the dog.
Its kind of important to remember that all adult animals should get diarrhea from drinking milk. Humans are an exception in this and even among humans a large part cant digest milk. So this isnt even being good to the cat, its just giving it the wrong food.
*tumbleweeds
Whenever I need a laugh, I look to Russell Howard videos. He never fails to deliver.
100%!
Maybe I should have bought my tv from him instead of currys then.
It's not spoiling. It's projection. Russell is one of the funniest, sincerest comdians and people around. Those who spoil their pets needs very strong medication.
"You put a dog in a hotel bed they'll leave it dirtier than Amber Heard" killed me 😂😂
My cat is turning 16 today 🎉 to celebrate he's going to get some cheese and a little puree treat. And a lot of cuddles and kisses as always
Congratulations, that's quite an age!you must be doing something really good!😃

It's good to see you back Russell I've missed you instead of seeing copies
That toy poodle that looked like it was smiling, was actually exhibiting major anxiety signals.
The dog watching golf had me lol
It's not spoiling, it's animal abuse. A birrhday party with a lot of loud soubds ans new people is so stressful for an animal.
Everything a dog needs is a wide grass field, something to chase, a nice place to sleep, and a bone to chew...
Best day of his life.
Bones are actually horrible for dogs teeth
@@schws001 cooked bones* raw bones is EXCELLENT for cleaning their teeth and providing them calcium.
That dog at the birthday party didn't look stressed at all.
No, let's call it what it is, a fucking shameful vanity project for the owner.
Imagine what a charity could do with that £5,000.
Russell Howard you are BRILLIANT sir 🤣😄😂.... haven't had such a great laugh for a while.... Thank You
Russel is the best part of my day
Honestly, pets can be expensive. I have a rabbit and he probably costs me about £750 per year, on a good year, and that's just on food and vet bills.
Last year he cost me £1,200 in vet bills alone.
I get the high chair thing, some dogs do need to sit like that to help their food go down, I forgot what it is called,
but to do it to a dog who can eat fine that just silly.
"megaesophagus" is what it's called.
The dog at the end got me 🤣🤣🤣
The plastic surgery thing is mad, but I think we should spoil our dogs.
Me too. My dog keeps me going truly
This video popped up when I sat down for a cuppa, just after putting my (45kg) dog's onesie pyjamas on him to keep him warm lol. Spoil my dog? Moi?!
@@witchynerdhermit that’s incorrect. You can anthropomorphize an animal. It doesn’t have to be an inanimate object.
When I heard Dolly Parton was making 'accessories' for dogs, I had a terrible, terrible mental image.
🙌 Not all heroes wear capes.
Tig ole bitties
It costs a lot to make your dog look this trashy...
I agree most of this is totally mental. that said, I do think the boarding in a proper house would be way nicer for a dog than kennels!
3:05 that poor dog is so stressed...
The ending had me in stitches 😂
"I've got claws, I'm going to bite, all I want to do is watch a movie"🤣🤣🤣🤣The sketch had me in stitches Russell 😅.
we just buy our 2 dogs some treats and the occasional toy every now and then
we do have a coat for them for the winter but they were only a few quid
That sounds like you genuinely love and care for your dogs. If only all dogs were so lucky, instead of being forced to be human substitutes.
Greetings from America Russ! Keep up the work mate
6:06 was that nibbles the Viking hamster??😂
I mean it’s not really spoiling, it’s more abuse. It’s okay to spoil your dog, but only with a new toy. A couple years ago, my dog had surgery, the vet said she might try bite the stitches, so we got her a sweater to cover it. It’s not fashion or colourful, it’s red. She had it on for like three months. She didn’t mind.
Also I really love this bit 2:03 - 2:09
over feeding pets is enough of a problem as it is it doesn't need to be a trend
Mine is quite happy w a warm blanket, two square meals a day & a tummy rub.
Thanks for bringing up this. yes some people needs attention thats why they go far on their pets like this
One of my cats loved watching snooker. When a ball was potted he went straight under the TV to find the ball lol
Me spoiling my very small dog:
1.Expensive high quality dog food that costs more than my grocery shop each month
2. A bath maybe 4 times a year
3. Raincoat for when its raining
4. Knitted jumper for when shes really cold and shivering
That’s not what a puppacino is lmao, getting angry over shit you’ve made up in your head
You can't stop me spoiling my guinea pig, she likes her expensive homemade treats.
Man, I spoil my dog by making him a steak or ordering two burgers instead of one every now and then but this is bonkers😂😂😭💀
Queen Elizabeth had NINE CORGIS. We haven’t even counted the Labradors 🤣
So? Do you think they may have been deprived in some way?
Thank you! Someone had to say this!!!
("Glittery burrito" 😂😂)
His most expensive jacket was like $80, but it was made in my country, and was high quality and would last him years longer than it ended up lasting becausr sadly i had to get him put down (but he had it for 4 years already before then).
That dog at the end is so funny.
We humans have become seriously ridiculous. I love animals but they definitely don't want to be a human.
I tried to spoil my cat - I bought her an expensive floofy bed and a realistic bird toy as a 'just because you deserve it' gift. She hates the bird and ignores it and has put 2 paws in the bed and sleeps in the box it came in
Don't call the dog for being baffled by it's own farts, I am all the time, especially when I follow through!! 😜
Its okay, on occasion my horse will fart and then spook at it.
Suddenly I want to see a propeller on a budgie....not wanting to be mean or anything but just for the fun of it like some mad pet owner saying "Mr tweetums needs help getting up on the to the water dish.....a propeller would help"
A guy stuffed his dead cat, & turned it into a drone! Sure it's on YT somewhere
@@witchysue5170 I remember Russel covering it tbh
Am I the only one who burst out laughing at the dog looking for the golf ball?
I knew an Amber Heard joke would come sooner or later! 🤣
Saw the joke a mile away when he was talking about dogs pooping
So digusting, so many of these should be criminal offenses like the comsetic surgery and overfeeding!
Exactly. Overfeeding “for a laugh “. That’s not an owner who cares.
i thought my dog was spoiled, he gets a treat after hes been out in the evning a minty chew at bedtime. he also gets a toy or treats at christmas and other peoples birthdays he just loves to open gifts and i think it is a bit much he does have a coat if its snowing or tipping down too
My dog get treats every day and he is really happy being spoiled.
Hence why I don't take my cats to the vet unless it's urgent.
1:03 Romeo wore such an expensive jacket because she wanted to impress Juliet
I've never been on board with dressing animals in cutesie clothing - a jacket for the dog if it's raining, but not one with sleeves and matching hankie and tie.
Animals have dignity, or they should have. If these people want to play dress-up, let them use dolls, or themselves. Not animals, not their children, who also deserve dignity.
You know when someone refers to their pets as “fur babies” they likely have an unhealthy attachment to them.
Look I love my cat. He is the worlds most sweetest floof but it stops at getting him the nicer treats and the wet food he likes. The day I start dressing him up and throwing parties for him is the day that I officially have lost whats left of my sanity.
“He looks like a glittery burrito.”
Love the amber heard joke 😂😂
I had a little wedding for my cats, didn’t spend any money on it but we said a couple of lines. Now they hate eachother lmao.
Plastic surgery for dogs should be seen as pure cruelty
I think most countries see it that way, docking tails and ears is illegal in Australia, this would be as well. USA, different story
This was actually very funny I loved it
Sometimes Pugs get face-lifts for their health to help breathing and stopping stuff festering in their face folds
Maybe bull dogs too?
This proves we live in a world of madness. Where pets are pampered while children are homeless & go hungry. 😧😢
Is there a correlation with the decreasing birth rate?
Someone bought my poor old dog (she's no longer with us) a doggy parka once so I gave it a go. Lol, I can just picture her face I don't know if she was horrified or just plain pissed off.🤣
You're absolutely hilarious 🤣🤣

Showing a dog your cok for money .. hahaha the way he says it, brilliant :)
I always feel sorry for the animals (handbag rats) like reggie and romeo bought to be accessories. Yes they might be looked after better than some family pets but what joy does the owner get from them as a living creature.
Sad thing is they are definitely looked after better than some humans.
Pets take the role of kids

Humanity s expanding too fast as it is
Poor Coco! She seems really nervous -- and I don't blame her! Panting and looking all around the room are not exactly signs of a happy relaxed pup...
The high chair is for medical reasons too, the dogs can’t keep their food down unless they’re sat upright.
Thats what I was thinking. Breeds like Bulldogs and pugs need this kind of surgury as we have breed them this way. I think the article had a misleading headline.
Putting a wig on an animal is the opposite of spoiling it.
Clothing for Dogs should be classified as abuse and should be illegal
Don't agree with buying clothes for animals unless they're hi-vis vests for service dogs, or those really small things with hardly any hair - they could probably do with a coat in winter. I had a border collie, a cocker spaniel and a rottweiler. Those dogs do not need coats 😂 probably enough malting to make a coat
Hilarious 😂
