Another beautiful peek into your lives in the Hebrides. I have watched from the beginning of your journey with great joy, this land pulls my heart in a very physical way, it is the land of my forebears. Though I am a 5th generation Australian, my kin came from Skye. This comment really belongs to your previous episode about the passing of Gary the Heron. It bought to my mind a story from my childhood about my great grandfather. One of my great uncles was killed in a fall from his horse, in mountain country when his horse tripped and threw him. The horse died too. The story I want to share is that though my great uncle was buried in the usual way, his father, my great grandfather returned to the site of the accident, dug a great hole and buried the horse. He then made a stone cairn over the horse's resting place. This cairn is still there today, deep in the bush. I wonder is this a Scot's thing? Or just the way my great-grandfather grieved. Thank you for sharing your life in a place I may not likely to ever visit but is so dear in my heart💚
I see the other kitty is out and about enjoying some spring warmth along with the greenery popping up. Katie, the window bay looks lovely in all its original glory. Bravo
what a gem episode...sheep sees maaaa and daaaa on the quaaaad and runs off, the beautiful spring blooms, kaie's mob cap, Scott's ongoing battle with rain, story time and reno...only 1/2 way through. love you guys and the way you complement each others' sentences!!
The boat mooring location, absolutely stunning! Your stories of Olive makes me think of my Scottish grandmother, Ruth McKay. Happy Belated Birthday, Scott~🎂😎 Katie, loved your lace cap! Your hair is so lovely, I'm envious! ☀☀☀
Lay off the snuff Jeeves 🤣Awww darling Bree watching you both is soooo cute ♥The window looks so much better already. The old Mooring spot is stunning. Your episodes always help me to relax.I even love it when it rains. Thank you xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
Beautiful show me and my mum are completely hooked... get your merchandise out there... Asap a Scott n katy bag for life natural fabric with beautiful wild flowers of Scotland on... Would be fantastic Beautiful views from the hill went to isle of lewis bk in 2019 was stunning saw old stone walk way n burial chambers and stunning old houses... Ideal way of life should be easier in summer less rain n wind hopefully
Hi Katie, when I bottle my cherries tomatoes, I prick the tomatoes with a needle and I add some chopped onion and green and yellow pepper to it, and the liquid is a mixture of sugar, vinegar and water. That way I can drain the jar and just add some lettuce and feta cheese and have a salad ready. Because I am alone now, I use small jars that I can finish in one meal.
Still loving your videos. On this one when you were sitting and talking, i noticed the huge floor boards under the table. Those are incredible. Please preserve them. You cannot find boards like that here in the US.
Our family lived in Inverness for 8 years, actually in Culloden. Our sons, born in Scotland, have never fully forgiven us for taking them away back to America. I enjoy your videos very much ❤
Love footage of you two on the quad❤ Thank you for sharing the Olive story, Scott you got a big kick out of that 😅 The deer are tormenting the 2 of you, it's now a game😂 Have a wonderful day, cant wait for the next one❤
Well done with the progress on the track. Water will continue to be the challenge...just like the Deer! The seedlings are in their first year, it always seems to take them longer to appear when your excited about seeing them. However, the feelings of pride when they do take hold and become stronger plants is awesome. The window does look better. Regardless of its size, you two still have the best views.
Thanks for another fabulous vlog. Loved hearing about Olive, what a character she must have been and what stories she could tell. The window does look so much better, well done Kate. Lovely footage of the deer and the pinemartin, such a beautiful place to call home x
What a character Olive must have been and the poor bloke who was in the amphibious car with her thinking he might have to row that car ashore if it broke down then realizing the oars would be of no good use. ha ha Swim for your lives..... Your banter between the pair of you is wonderful to see and you always get me too have a little laugh or chuckle. Thanks once again for a lovely video. Have a lovely day.
I'm in love with this channel, best thing on youtube. I often wonder that after a hard days work cultivating your bit of heaven what you might be having for your tea. I imagine you guys sat by the fire tucking into some honest authentic dishes, I'd like to see that. ps The window and pathway is looking fantastic already, you are the angels of the isle. Love and best wishes Paul x
Love your stories! Hopefully the fence will be all secure by the time the fruit trees and the veggie garden are bringing on fresh food. They are pretty though, and fun to watch.
Great episode as usual so much to enjoy. Really liked how you have done the window Katie also all the daffodils blooming when you were walking to put the deer camera up. I was so excited to see the pine marten I’ve been calling it a bear marten and I was very excited to hear about your one eye marten, Martin who also moonwalks. Seems appropriate for this channel. Laughed out loud when sailing group turned around and have no doubt Scott has a reputation as caretakers and some others you mentioned in a pod cast. Next Scott will be swinging a loin cloth at the invaders.😋
I predict you'll get some amazing footage of the deer breaching the fence when you finally get it. Not long ago, I saw on You Tube footage of what must have been an 8 point buck wiggling under a very small space under a 5 bar gate! If someone had told me they could do that, I never would have believed it, but there it was on video....
add milk to limewash , much less likely to rub off on your clothes. linseed oil also helps with areas prone to wetting or high traffic areas like hallways kitchen etc.
You asked in the previous video about recommendations for gloves. HYFLEX 11-840 Ergonomic Abrasion-Resistant Nylon Spandex Nitrile Gloves. These gloves were recommended by a young couple who bought Jameswood Villa in Scotland, a ruin for sure, and who fixed it up over several years. Cal and Claire. He did nearly all the work himself. He loved these gloves and wouldn't use anything else. I bought my husband a pair, and he likes them also. Very durable and grip well.
Hello Katie and Scott, great video today, that was a nice looking can that's to bad that it wasn't able to be transported and used. Then but then looking at the island's walkways. It's not likely the car. Would have been able to be driven on any of the roads.Unless we the viewer's can't see them for privacy issues. Which is understandable. Katie great work on the window restoration It's looking good. Looking forward to the next video.
The seedlings look lovely, unfortunately I can’t grow them until I return from traveling in spring, so I just buy the plants that need the early start. I did put compost in my raised beds today and saw that my walking onions are already 6-8 inches tall. Early deliciousness. I was able to can 32 pints of pork this week. Easy peasy with the digital canners. Look forward to seeing your garden
Great video. It was intresting watching Scott practice his curmudgeon skills. I don't think that he could actually pull it off though. Careful with that axe Eugene. ;)
Yes!!! a bit of venison sasauge is in order.....can you take any? The interior work makes me tired but good thing its not up to me....glad your laughing! keep it up! 1
Also recommend new subscribers watch from the start. It's what I did and gives the viewer a much better understanding of what it's all about. Plus the scenery in changing seasons. All 😺 lads do that 😂
Yes all the fans coming to catch a glimpse i don't blame you not putting direct location staying isolated move over been foogle we have new real wild life show... I actually love ben foogle tooo. You should get him to help one show
Teriyaki venison roast is delicious. Pinterest has a great recipe. You might also find out how to cure hides on youtube. They make a nice wall hanging lol
punctured wheel barrows are quite easy to repair, just buy an ordinary puncture repair kit for a bicycle and use a couple of tyre levers like 2 flat headed srewdrivers or sppon handles to pries the tyre of off one side and take the tube out , find the hole and patch it. If you use scewdrivers just make sure you dont nick the tube n put more holes in it.
Hi! I’m a new subscriber and I’m so glad I’ve found your channel! It’s so relaxing watching your videos. I was wondering how old is your house? Sorry if this has been answered before 😄
Amphibious car eh! Used to be one just like that on Inchmurrin Island on Loch Lomond. Was running then and kept on one of the houses. Suspect it had a removable roof since there were many reports of a Reliant Robin puttering up and down the loch. First time I saw it I was accused of being drunk. Second time with a witness, so reputation restored :-)
I don't recall ever seeing that boathouse before. Also, it is not clear how you got the quad and the trailer from the sandpit to the island. I thought you could only get across by boat.

It's it's West Highland Scot, thing, yes. Don't know about rest of country.

Omg...I love the window like that, slot more light for sure
The window and walls stripped down is beautiful 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Oh I laughed out loud when I saw you with the lace hat on your head. Too funny. All the daffodils!! So so pretty. Lovely. thank you.
As always, thank you.
You two are the best show on the telly😁
Wheelbarrow solid tyres. Brilliant things.
Also, those green barrows make super comfortable chairs.

I haven't laughed so much in this episode. Your cat made a sound what was that sound😂
Such a treasure, all the old stories and history you share!! Thank you for the work you are doing to preserve the cottage and the history~ ♥
Should keep some bags handy for sand and such . Makes unloading easier 😊
Loved this video, one of your best. So interesting. The window looks stunning. Much love to you both, Jennifer, Cape Town, South Africa 💜

That sounds yummy, thank you! Kx
I boil 1 cup each sugar, vinegar and water for a few minute and pour over veggies.
Jeeves is such a star 😻

Loved the amphibious car!
Thanks for another fabulous vlog. Loved hearing about Olive, what a character she must have been and what stories she could tell. The window does look so much better, well done Kate. Lovely footage of the deer and the pinemartin, such a beautiful place to call home x
Love the sun deck furniture.
I ordered you something from your Amazon wishlist. I hope it's useful. Thanks for the wonderful videos.
' Ae fond kiss' . Robert Burns . One of my favourites.
35:04 So good! Had a great laugh.

Seeing you in your lace cap making placemats, I felt deep down I’ve witnessed my kindred spirit! 😂🤣😂🤣👋🏻🙋🏽♀️
Oh no! Not another one! 😆❤️Kx

When filling the trailer, first lay down a tarp and then add your sand, stones, etc. Saves having shovel it out. Makes for very easy cleannup.
Hello Katie and Scott, great video today, that was a nice looking can that's to bad that it wasn't able to be transported and used. Then but then looking at the island's walkways. Hellooo my great friends. It's so good to see you 💖💖😁😁🥰🥰
🤍
I’ve watching what you guys get up to on your island!
Katie, use a milk bottle with holes in lid to sprinkle water on seedlings.
Love this one as well!!

I had to laugh at Jeeves sneezing - our big, all black, male cat sneezes just like that!
Happy Birthday Scott!
👍
Thanks Cindy.
Belated Happy Birthday to Scott :). Is the perception of the passing of time very different with Island Life ?
The days just seem to come and go. Maybe it's age! Kx
Hello from Minnesota 😊
Thanks
Wow - thank you! 🤍🤍
Thank you for sharing your little peace of heaven with us! Question for your question episode, how many acres is your island?
Just shy of 100 hectares. Kx
Hello from Canada !
Looks like The Banana Splits on that quad :)
"What the hell is on your head?" 😁😂😂😂 Your videos are getting better and better.😊 Well done.
You could leave the concrete paint it with floor paint or put some tiles on it! Xx
When your average Deer meets a fence, his first thoughts are: "Ah, you bloody think so, eh?"....
Ha ha so true!
Every single one of them thinks they're trying out for the High Jump at the Olympics! (They're all convinced they are gold medal qualifiers too!)
😂
Suggestion for the cat door: when you go to bed, make sure you ‘lock’ the both doors so the martens don’t get in. They do get curious. Just an idea.
Great video. It was intresting watching Scott practice his curmudgeon skills. I don't think that he could actually pull it off though. Careful with that axe Eugene. ;)

Tenderloin,eggs and biscuits n gravy😛😋😍

All 😺 lads do that 😂
Watching from the start would also be a great help to us. Especially concerning the understandable questioning.
Scott happy belated birthday may God grant you many more😊
Would be nice if you can have a one piece of glass on the window instead that double pieces of glass. You would have more light coming in your room.
Better late than never!
When you’ll mend the fence whilst they are in, how do they get out again?
🙈

Hi from Michigan🌻🌻
I'm in Michigan, too!
Me too!
Is that a paved road? I haven’t seen it before.
A cemented trackway leading down the steepest part of the hill; to where we use the boats to cross.
You might be better with a solid wheel. Good to see what you are up too. All the best from sunny nairn
Has it been sunny in Nairn! You lucky thing! Been on and off all day further north!
Hi from sunny Glasgow today, my birthday as well.
Happy birthday, Doug! 🤍🤍
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday 🎉
Hi from london
Idea: Why don't you keep a running list of FAQs and post on the Community section of your channel?
That’s a good idea!
Hi! I’m a new subscriber and I’m so glad I’ve found your channel! It’s so relaxing watching your videos. I was wondering how old is your house? Sorry if this has been answered before 😄
Jacobean; early 1600s.
Wow that’s so cool! There must be so much history attached to your home. Loving the videos 😄
Is there some apple trees or berries ...maybe..will plain any fruit trees?
When do you find time to do your laundry and how is it dried? I did not notice if you had a washer * dryer or a clothes line
Yes, we have a clothes line outside. Kx
I don't recall ever seeing that boathouse before. Also, it is not clear how you got the quad and the trailer from the sandpit to the island. I thought you could only get across by boat.
We showed the boathouse in a previous video. The treehouse one. The sandpit is on the island. Kx
I know exactly what you're talking about on the amphibious cars they had one for auction here in Arizona a few months ago
They're going for £80k now, those classic ones!!
