This song got me through some really bad times. Stuck in a job that paid enough to keep me, but was awful enough for me to want to drive the bus into the sea. “I don’t wanna be bus driver, all my life…”
This song gave me such hope of getting out of a job that ruined my physical and mental health.
Now better and in a career I love. Thank you sooo much.

I remember singing along to this song one time when I had a Saturday morning cleaning job in the UK and dreaming of going anywhere tropical. Now 30 odd years later having married a Bajan I am now living in Barbados ! So some dreams do come true!
You are so lucky. We have just returned from a 2 week cruise, setting off and returning from Barbados. The people are so lovely and very friendly there including the children who waved and said hello. I envy you.

I fondly remember Listening to this exotic song in class in the 70's .. those were meaningful times.... lazy hot summers and snowy winters.. happier times when we played out until it got dark ...the happiest days of my heart... what I would do to feel and taste those innocent joyful days of the 70's again...

Remember when this was #1 in the charts in the UK. I was at that time in the forces in Hampshire. Returned to Barbados and have only heard this song played on local radio about 3 or 4 times in the decades I was back here.
Visited Barbados (on HMS Ark Royal) the year this song came out, loved every minute of our time there.
Great memories of going to this wonderful island for two weeks in 1998.The people are amazing so friendly.Go if you can it’s well worth

Heard the song in 1975 on an airplane in the USA and it made a mark in my brain.
Was in Jersey Channel Islands as a 16 year old lad from Bacup in Lancashire UK. Loads from my little town there and this song has stayed with me ever since. Happy care free days for the Bacup boys now gettin on in life

The drummer from the recording plays with a band called the Delltones in Australia. I knew him when I was a kid, he was a neighbour, I remember when he left for the UK for a few years.

ive been to barbados and its amazing!!!! i love it, in 2011 ime going in july for 4 weeks.ime flying by virgin and staying in a villa called villa cassia last time i stayed in sunswept beach hotel and we had a trip to north point and bathsheba....LOVE U BARBADOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were in Barbados in February the country was beautiful and the people very friendly . The climate was exceptional and the carribean sea was very warm.will go again for sure.

British but growing up in the DC area of USA. I used to spend the summer at my nan's in Bournemouth. I remember this in the summer of '75, great song along with The Glitter band, Alvin Stardust. man talk about wonderful memories, My 1st summer love with a girl named Janice Kerslake. Going to the "Blue pictures" with mates. having older blokes buy us a few beers from the Off License! A much much simpler and better time I dare say.

But as a geography student, and resident of the island for all my life, I can assure you that what is found in the Scotland District are far from what is definition of mountainous. "Hilly terrain" is how it is described, and is so reinforced by the actual name of Barbados' highest peak, "Mount HILLaby", which only rises a measly 1120 feet above sea level
