As a kid, my absolute favorite class was music class!!! But when I got to 3rd grade I think it was, they basically stopped all music classes when I moved back to Texas from Ohio. I didn’t have any music class till 7th grade when I joined beginning band. I’m more of a drummer/percussionist than anything, but I have autism, and due do that, they didn’t even give me the option for percussion. So I played saxophone, which is great!! I mean if you’re gonna be in a different section other than percussion, at least look cool with a sax, right? But I’m a drummer first and foremost, and every time I see a drum kit, or any percussion instrument, I naturally gravitate towards that!!! That’s the beautiful thing about drums and percussion!!! I wanna say it’s like a black hole that pulls you in (without killing you, of course), and once it has you in its grasp, you belong to the drums forever!!!!
I absolutely love your classroom and I would want to be in your class...lol! You have inspired me to try contact paper in my classroom this year. 🤞🏾 Your classroom is so inviting!
I love everything about this classroom, it's fantastic to me. I can't help but feel hopeless for my own classroom, it's got so much stuff packed into it and the room is so small. I am teaching general music, band, and my keyboard lab are all in the same room. My room horizontally is roughly 23 feet and vertically is 51 feet making it more long than it is wide. My piano lab takes up roughly two and a half quarters of my room vertically. Than the space in the front is makeshift general music and than i morph it into a band setting. It's so crampt, I try to organize it but i feel hopeless. I have these storage closets in the back where I put all the instruments, in addition to orchestra instruments and guitar's and the keyboard boxes. The band kids don't put the instruments back in the closets because it's so hard to take them back out again, it feels like a hazard the way I have to store certain instruments like trumpet cases stacked up 5ft high. I want a bigger room, but that would require a brand new building because I currently have the biggest room in the school. I apologize for complaining, after seeing this video I feel less like it's my fault or that I can't organize and more like what I have been given is not suitable for what I am being asked to do. Anyone have any advice? Aside from make the best of it hahahaha, I promise I am trying!
new music teacher just and starting out. I wondered if you could share a little bit more about the large backdrop paper that you used for your walls. I think this was the music poster one that has the composers and other things.
I really love your classroom! This is like my dream class! I have a very little classroom and we’re a small budget school. I wanted to ask where you got the color storage boxes for the desk bells and what kind of table did you buy to store the keyboards? Where did you buy the electronic drum pads?
Love it how you keep the color tubes without falling down
