No, it not it's only illegal to mine jet, and all the mines have now been closed . it's completely fine to pick up on the foreshore as it washed in with the tide . This is the only method that the local whitby jewellery shops can use to still obtain jet !
@onemanandhispan Yes, picking up from the SAND is fine, you are not allowed to cut into the rockface, as far as I am aware. There has been too much erosion along this coast ...
Nice finds there. That ammonite looked like a fossilized Cornish pasty! :o)
Thanks, mate. I'm just in the process of cleaning the ammonite up . I will post some pictures of it on the community page when it's done 👍
Brilliant. Love the channel
Much appreciated!
WELL DONE BRO GREAT STUFF 🪨
Nice one mate 👍
Loved Whitby
It was my first time visiting whitby, and I must say it's a lovely town. The jet is just an added bonus 👍
Fish and chips to die for. 👍
@itsbrilliant-bt8sv I may have made a school boy error , I had my fish and chips in scarborough down by harbour, while I watched the tractor run😂😂
@@onemanandhispan Next time then eh?😁
It can be found down the coast in Norfolk and Suffolk after a blow. Had many a piece over the years.
Wow! Next time I'm down that way, I will definitely be checking the beeches out. Thanks, mate 👍
@@onemanandhispan Chance of some amber too.
It is ILLEGAL to forrage for Jet ... if you are caught you will be heavily fined. Speak to the Council if you doubt my word ... 😮
