THAANK YOU : ) I'm a single, healthy, active 72 year old Woman. I'm not dating and certainly agree with you about men of your same age. They look way too old and debilitated for me. Many; if not most of the men my age look 15 years older than me; and not a healthy version of the age they look to be. I agree with all that you are saying, here. In our culture women are expected to look like 20 year olds; while men feel that they don't need to put any effort into looking their best and often neglect their grooming and physical fitness. NO THANKS!!

Men and women age differently depending on genetics, their careers, the food they eat, sun exposure, alcohol consumption, consistent moderate exercise, life stess, serious diseases, and attitude. Men have more choices. There are more single women than men. I think it's like 4 women to 1 man. Men keep dating around to pick the best option. Women don't play that game. At least I don't. Men do get older but they think that's okay because there are other single women that won't mind and are looking for companionship. Harrison Ford is old looking . He's in his 80s? I think after mid 70s age becomes more noticeable. Energy is lower and wrinkles increase. Medical problems surface. It's life and it happens to everyone. Men should be happy to find just one good woman who has love in her heart and willing to share in life's journey with them unconditionally.

No offense but that seems like an excuse for the natural aging process. Birthing children can physically age women. But to my point, men endure all the same crap in a marriage. Women will often flip things to what “ all men have put them through.”

I worked in U.S. healthcare for 20 years and you are accurate about this phenomenon of older men marrying younger women when they are able to do so. I mostly saw this among high income men where I thought the woman at the bedside was his daughter but it was actually his wife. And you are correct. It's all well and good when the man is doing well health wise but things start to change when his health deteriorates. I feel like it's likely your Father's work schedule (working all day followed by working on his own home at night) contributed to his heart attack. But of course, this is just my opinion.

    NEWS FLASH -
A younger person pursues an older person for romance for one of three reasons:
    1. The older person is wealthy and willing to spend money.
    2. The younger person needs citizenship
    3. The younger person is not considered “desirable” by their fellow younger people, so they’ll “settle” for an older person because the older person is giving them romantic attention.
The May-December romance based on love is rare. It happens, but it’s rare because the age difference begins to matter eventually.
This goes for men AND women since we’re seeing more and more financially successful women who are now “playing like the boys” and chasing after young studs (Cher, Madonna, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Griffin). Let’s put it this way - if the late Hugh Hefner and Leonardo DiCaprio were average joes who only made $5000/month GROSS PAY, those hot young women wouldn’t have given him the time of day.
Listen to the young ladies talk - they will openly say that “they don’t want to deal with a wrinkly old man unless he can give them sugar (💵)”.

    • @conejita71mx
      @conejita71mx 2 месяца назад +13

My husband, who died last year, was 33 years older than me. When we met he was in his early 50is and very fit and younger looking. As long as it was like that, I never saw him as an old man. But in his early 70 is his health started slowly to decline from year to year and I couldn't help but see his age. In his late 70is, he developed a serious kidney problematic and from that moment on, he was an old, very ill man who needed more and more help, horribly for him and for me. I got the feeling that I was old too...living constantly with and old, sick person. My husband was a good man and I was with him till the end. But from the moment on when he started clearly to age our relationship suffered because we simply weren't a real fit anymore. I was too young and healthy for him. I needed more. And he was frustrated, living with a younger person and not be able to keep up anymore. So yes, age gape relationships can be wonderful and fulfilling but it can become very difficult when the man gets really old and you have less and less in common.

I agree wholeheartedly! Unfortunately, men are quite delusional with regard to their looks and abilities at 60 vs say 30 years ago. As a 66 year old black male I never quite want to admit that I'm old, that I can't do the same things, attract the same women I could 30 years ago. Unfortunately, as my dad would say "time is a cruel taskmaster." When I was younger women might look interestingly at me, say hello and smile. Now, even a woman a few years younger than myself will "hello sir" i.e. the delineate, maybe smile quickly but sternly and hurry on her way. Most men are seriously bs'ing themselves in this regard. While there are age gap relationships that work it's the exception not the rule. Personally, I've always seen it as selfish.
At 66 were I to seriously be in a relationship with someone 36, 46 even 56 would be to slow down and quite possibly alter their life's trajectory considerably. All in the interest of showing off or trying to prove I've still got it.

Online dating is a hot topic because I think it's gotten so bad that many of us aren't doing it anymore and now in a "reset and reflect " mode.
I just turned 50. And low and behold we age too. I felt a resurgence in my 40s and wonder if i was going to notice getting older haha.
Anyway these conversations are good for us to share experiences , some laughs and also it helps me identify some things I need to tweak before I try dating again.
Everyone ages. Everyone is also unique with timing and where they are at.
Here's my secret to all of this. It's like being a surfer waiting on the wave. Everything vibrates everything moves there's rythmn to everything . You need to be mentally and physically ready for the surf board work on that first.
Then pay attention to the waves. If a good one passes you by...just chill don't chase there will be another. Be better at knowing if it's a small wave pass it by. When good wave appears ride it decisively. Don't worry how old the wave is and don't worry about the outcome.
At the current moment working on my vibration and losing a good 25lbs first. The focus is on me.
Back to on point I don't see woman as aging different . What I DO NOTICE is the energy from most is that of exhaustion they don't have light in their eyes and they need to take a break. Takes one to know one !
The online dating became a pool of fake waves. Get back to the ocean.

They basically needed a short term outlet. Fun for a bit but their lives are too chaotic they get tired fast understandably . They Bow out . Or there's this thing that if you aren't also a single father something doesn't mesh.
They repeat this cycle over and over ( so do us mem ) and it wears us all down.
On the plus side I remained friends with a couple and as long as you do not feel "orbit friend zone" it's a positive

Sometimes the wives aren't even that old, for example one of the wives is in a nursing home due to dementia and she is 62. On average women live about 5 years longer but many times those years are not quality years due to health issues.
In my not so expert opinion, both men and women age badly. Many will die before retirement or reach retirement only to deal with acute health issues.

I'm a single male about to turn 60, and I can say in all honesty that my entire life I've been attracted to older women! As a teenager, my 40-something next door neighbor drove me wild (and some of my high school teachers). Throughout my adult years I've always felt that women reach their peak of desirability in their 50's, and many, like you, remain extremely attractive well into their 60's and even 70's. When I think of dating again, I wouldn't want to date a woman more than 5 years younger than I am. I'd just want someone who sees the world in much the same way as I do, grew up in the same era, has mostly the same values and attitudes that I do. I think that's important in a companion to grow old with. Physical attractiveness declines for all of us, men and women, as we age, and it also becomes less important (I think) as other things become more important. And yes, Harrison Ford is handsome for his age but he definitely is looking old.

I sometimes wonder if it also changes with time in the way that if when we age, and reach the age of older women we liked when we were younger, we"ll tend to lose interest in women in that age range, maybe lean towards women even older, or just plain stop being that attracted to older women. I'm in my late thirties and noticing I may be starting to see women around my age more attractive than what I did when we were younger. I've met some that definitely have given me the attractive mature woman vibes I've always got from older women. But I still find older more attractive. Mind my age range of preference have always been very broad (broad among older, kind of starting at around 15+ years older). I, just as you, feel women reach their peak at the late 50's-early 60's range, and have felt like that since at least my late teens.

You found your audience quickly, and it’s clear that many of us agree with you! The dating video is gold! I tried dating apps and the service ‘It’s just lunch.’ Disaster! The men lied about who they were, education and had no self awareness! Agree Harrison looks old and he should, he is 80. His wife is 60 but also has her own successful career! They must have real balance. He is healthy and she is a strong, independent woman. Psychologically men seem to be ego centric - think they seem younger if they are with a younger woman. My mom married a man 13 years older - it was a disaster! Women need to be successfully independent earlier and hear from older women the reality of relationships and having kids. Men are driven by testosterone and it isn’t easy for them when they age….but that doesn’t mean women should have to manage that. Glad I found your voice!

It's poor logic to compare a male's bodily function to impregnate someone with a woman's thinning skin and "waning looks" according to our culture's beauty standards. All genders age physically on the surface and inside. If you look 50 and your 63, great! It's a fact tho that your bones and joints are still 63 years old. My sense is that you are saying the value of a male's "working" tool supercedes all other factors, like sperm aren't as vital as men age, there aren't as many, companionship, friendship, sense of humor, finances, wisdom, kindness, ... That's my read.

Since college he had gained QUITE a bit of weight and lost all his hair, but HE was the guy I remembered from college; His humor, his fun spirit and I had a blast with him for a couple of weeks...then he started to ask me to dye my hair (I had a lot of pepper with some salt), he wanted me to start tanning, he bought me clothes that I was not comfortable wearing, and he discouraged ambitious travel plans that I had for myself. Nuh huh, that just wasn't going to work and I realized, fun in college didn't translate to compatibility as a mature woman.

First of all, I am a woman. I'm 48. I think men overestimate themselves a lot and that's because of relationships with their mothers. This is the first relationship with a woman! Mothers tend to “idolize” and overprovide for their sons, they spoil their sons! What is missing is the father, who intervenes CORRECTLY and turns the child into a man. To confront the son with the reality that he is not as great as he thinks he is, because his mother has convinced him.
On the contrary, we have women. Women and their mothers, a relationship based on preparing women for the harsh realities of this world. And our first relationship with a man (father)? It is characterized by absence, unwillingness to engage, lack of understanding and even sexual violence. That's why women underestimate their worth!!! Greetings from germany

You've said a lot of truth here. I've always thought that the reason there is an increase in illicit female /teacher relationships with students is because the woman is desperately looking for some kind of attention that is lacking at home and unfortunately the young male students like to pursue. Even high profile marriages like Tom Brady's marriage -- broke up because he was never home. Just my opinion. I don't know them but that is what it looks like to me. Men have a way of winning you over, getting you in their orbit, and then just abandoning you -- and like you said," unwillingness to engage"

I think the trend is exactly the opposite of what you described. In fact, historically there was much less stigma or taboo about a large age gap between men and women. For most of history, it has been generally assumed that men will (on average) marry a younger woman. It's only a fairly recent "post-feminism" change in our values to consider an age gap to be somewhat taboo.

I know that she came out and defended that stance and said that reason isn’t always negative, but it usually is. Women choose to be single and it’s usually not for a negative reason. It’s usually because she’s choosing herself and deciding to decentre men from her life. Not because she hates men, but because she realizes she is healthier and happier when she doesn’t wrap her life around one, because women have a tendency to do that. Men on the other hand, have a tendency to expect a woman to wrap their life around him and keep him in the center. I am a nurse. And I work in a seniors home currently. Single men past a certain age do not thrive typically. Are there exceptions? Absolutely. But not many. Single women past a certain age on the other hand tend to be better off than the ones who are married.
Lake holly said. Most people tend to marry someone around the same age. Also, most couples over certain age, the dynamic has been that the woman takes care of the man. Maybe he was the breadwinner, maybe he wasn’t, but 90% of the time she was the one doing most of the cooking cleaning and caring for that man. When a man loses that woman in his life, their health and happiness plummets. That is why so many are desperate to remarry or find someone younger to look after them.
On the other hand, when a woman has spent her entire life, pouring all of her energy and effort into a man, and then that man dies? All of a sudden she has that energy back for herself. She is going to have the time to take care of herself. To travel. To do whatever the hell she wants for the first time. She can now volunteer and start new hobbies. She always wanted to try that she never had time for before because she was centring the man in her life. .
I don’t care if men are pissed off about this fact Because it is a fact. Just because it makes so many men uncomfortable doesn’t mean it’s not true.

I want to say that the difference in age is not an issue if there is real love between both of them…I write it from my personal experience( my wife was 14 years older than me…).

Yes but most of the time women look after themselves they don't expect men to be a nurse.
