This has came at the perfect time, the youth project I work for does a lot of outward bounds with kids from deprived backgrounds, and needs new camping gear and we have gotten £1200 towards it. Il be using this as a template for what we order as like you said, you don’t want the cheapest gear as you want them to enjoy their experience. Cheers Haze
This would be ideal for myself. I’ve been subscribed for a few years now and my mental health is depleting recently. I really appreciated your advice on getting out and about and plan to do so as soon as I’m able. Keep up the good work mate.
Keep an eye out and speak to festivals as its getting into festival season. There's always left over tents and they give them away to charities, can get some great tents for free. Sometimes need some minor repairs.
This is a rate relief! I’ve been Googling and searching after spending past month talking to my daughter about going camping (she’s 6) and she gotten so excited. Then I started pricing it up and a lot of RUclips reviews have been firing stuff out at a arm and a leg cost and I was starting to think I’d have to tell my daughter it might to wait a year whilst we get the stuff together but this is just such a relief to find a full camp kit at a affordable price! 😊😊
Not entering this compo as I already have similar gear, but just wanted to say that giving this setup away is such a great and valuable thing to do. Whoever gets this year will have a whole world open up for them. Well done, fella.
What an interesting video. I'm an older lady who used to love camping. I'm thinking of getting some bits together, so me and my Irish Wolfhound can have a few nights under the stars. Great guide, thank you.
@mandyocallaghan9809 I'm 64, just me n my dog. Spent lots of times camping when my children were young. We couldn't afford camp sites so found lovely places with steams and fields and just enjoyed fresh air and fun times. Hope you get to get out there soon.
Straight away save money on a bag, eurohike 65l £25 go outdoors or blacks, absolute beast of a bag been going strong for over 3 years with a stupid amount of weight in it and hanging off it
You sir are a FECKIN legend 👍👍👍 you really do put a smile on the face of the Hunan race !!!! Thank you for being you . Much love from your friends in Wales Ritchie veteran and Raven xx
what a lovely thing to do mate! i am currently on the way up after some serious mental health issues that have seen me hit the absolute lowest point in my life, nearly losing everyone i love. I am 3 weeks and 5 days sobre from drink and drugs. Walking and being outdoors is a big, big driver for me to keep going forward and keep changing for the better. hiking and wild camping is my goal/reward for staying clean. i would love to enter this comp but i am not on any social media. this list is something i will use as reference when i am able to buy myself something each month as a reward for staying on track! Cheers mate, your videos are an inspiration. Thank you.
If you consider that the tent sleeps 2 people the base weight would be even lower if you share it with a friend or partner. The tent weighs 3.4 kg, so that's a big difference.
This is brilliant and super helpful. I’m looking to get out of my head and into the wilds at the age of 57 …. So super useful will certainly look at these item … been following for a year now and you have such an awesome manor about thanks so much for spending your time to share this stuff with us
Took my friend out for his first ever wild camp the other night using old gear that I have and he loved it! He could really do with a set up like this! Sent him the video for inspiration and a good guide 😊
That's so nice of you to give away a gift to a newbie fellow bush crafter Hazey ole mate, good on ya champ. P.s hey love the slow motion of Mr Robin chops, just wondering how did you start the process of getting him to feed up close ? Regards Late mate from Tasmania
Great upload chief, fantastic insight to all of of us who are day hikers and wondering what we really need to fulfill the extra step of wild camping and doing multi day hikes. Great stuff, donating the kit to a good cause too, whats life is about giving where we can and helping others out.
The opening on the tent is probably a power port to run an electric cord. Did you try the Coleman in the rain? I have yet to see a Coleman tent that did NOT leak in the rain. Usually because the rain fly does not provide enough coverage.
My 9yr old daughter loves watching ur videos with me. We are planning to do a local trail once the weather has improved, prob nearer August time so I'm trying to slowly kit her out altho finance is tight. Hopeing to raise money for either a military or mental health charity. I love your videos too. You are an inspiration to so many.
Be wary of the UL80 camping matt. Had 2 and they do tend to deflate during the night so end up paying out more as have to go out again and get something more durable and reliable. Great Video.
This is a brill set up! I have no need for it seeing as though I've spent the gdp of a small country on camping gear, but someone will really enjoy this.
Thanks again to You, Haze, I take my daughter hiking but really want her to get the camping experience I had as a kid, this kit will suit her perfectly 5*
That little zip is for a electric extension lead when your on a pitch. I suppose it would work with a solar set up too bud, panels outside power pack indoors 😮
Hi, thanks for the video. I'm starting to feel inspired enough to get out and do some camping this year. I've not done any activities since losing my old staffy back in Feb and I've recently been diagnosed with heart failure after a big heart attack during Covid. Due to this I can't work enough hours to buy expensive camping gear, so this video will give me plenty to think about and might even make some videos aswell.
Not entering, but interesting stuff. The pump I could go for. The sleep pad is a little slim, but very deep. The tent is palatial, but weighty. I have the knife, good choice. I tend to poop on the floor, bag it, bag that bag, then double zip lock that bag! Leave no trace Extreme! Otherwise yes, for a budget I think you're doing the right thing. Really though, I think a decent but mindful of price set up for 3 seasons needs a bag of sand spending on it.
Just got back into camping with my 5 year old daughter but never wild camped. It's something I really want to try so this is really helpful. Subscribed.
Hey Paul, I hope all is well with you. I'd be right up for that gear. My 16yr old is up for wild camping and I know he'd be very appreciative of it, and so would I, he currently spends all his time looking at the screen on his phone 😂😂
I really want to try and start camping for a while now, I've always been captivated by all these camping videos on RUclips. It's gonna take a while tho since I need to to save a lot of money to buy the gears needed, camping gears are kinda pricey here in the Philippines.
The little zipper is, so you can pull an electric wire in. I had actually forgotten, that it's perfectly fine going out with just this amount of equipment 🙂 It's a good list, not complicating things more than they have to. I tend to add things that are "nice to have", like an extra tarp and a pair of trekkingpoles a true folding shovel, and always a camouflage net to cover the tent (it provides great shade and dampens the rain).
I'm looking to do the coast to coast in summer , been caring for my mam n her dementia for last 4 years so I'm looking forward to getting away on my own, glad seen your video to get an idea of what I'll be needing
I reckon that little opening will be for an electric hook up on campsites. Disappointed you’ve not included the disposable hand warmers. Absolute must. Lovely act of kindness there though mate.
Hi, what a brilliant video, just planning to help my granddaughter start her walking life. Given her all my equipment but Sal Dry far too heavy. Thanks again x Maggie
What a fantastic giveaway, your a hero!! That little zipped hole in the corner is for electrical hookup. I've followed you for years and love your whole approach to life, I already have a load of gear so no need to enter. Hope it goes to someone that'll get hooked.
This would be perfect for my nephew who loves the outdoors. After watching your videos we started going out for forage and cook days in woodland, this would be awesome for him to try wild camping with me. ❤
looks great! i haven't camped since 1982, when i was in Olean, New York, with the Burmese Sayadaw U Thila Wunta, and a group of us students of Buddhism were restoring a pagoda, in the forest. My tent was a lot like this one looks. What a super kit!
Fantastic too get a decent set of gear while maintaining a reasonable weight. Need someone too build me a kit like this. I seam too get mine way too heavy. Maybe it's this Aquired Brain Injury associated with Encephalitis that's making my planning be so jumbled. Love the outdoors although have too admit the bulky weight hampering my adventures a tad.
This is a very good video. I used to be a scout and loved camping. I want to get back into this as I have gone through a massive break up and lost job and everything. Any chance I can have this as I want to get away and find myself again and restart my life. Carry on with your fantastic videos
That. -or if your selling "barnacles" and your "pirate" friends just realised your tent peg got loose, ofc they will bend down and reset if for you, as good friends do, even pirates care about others xD
That Darwin tent from the previous vid has gone up to £100 now, still not a bad tent though for the money. I have a UL80 and Aluft pillow and they are fantastic, well worth carrying for a tiny bit of weight. I have to recommend the OEX Powerluxe too, though is now around £20 but a fantastic lantern, very bright and can use it as a power bank too if needed.
This was a great video, is great of you to do for another young enthusiast as you did before, can't beat a smile like that in the photo, was obviously well chuffed & this will make a great kit for another... Just checked it all out & the LE1000L rechargeable headtorch which I have & love, due to the combined spot&flood+red light & is currently 30% off😮... I may buy a spare...!😄👍
Love your vids man. There's a lad at work and for 4years he's been itching to come away wildcamping and I know he'd love it and this would be the perfect opportunity to get him into it. Best of luck to whoever wins and enjoy LNT
Very kind of you hazy lad. That's a great little set up for someone just starting out.. I've just spent a small fortune on an osprey Atmos 65 and a wild country panacea can't wait to test them out
Good luck to anyone entering! Been thinking about wild camping for a while and there's loads of nice kit in your vlog. What would you recommend for a more stealthy, lighter, 1 man tent that doesn't break the bank??
@@David-le7jy No worries man. You can get the Robens for £140 and I think Lanshan 1 is the same. Lanshan 2 is worth it for the space gained for very little weight penalty., it's about 1kg. Robens is 2kg but a solid winter tent.
Corner pocket/ window is for electric hook up on Campsites. Cable through then zip it up. Great vid as always.👍
What a good idea.
that's pretty smart really, especially as family campsites are where this sort of tent is going to be mostly pitched. well done designers.
you can also use them for solar panel connections if you're out in the wild. The main use is for electric hookups though.
that was my thought.
@@PolarRed It's a fairly standard feature on tents, we just don't see them on backpacking/trekking tents as they're going to be used in the wild

sounds like a good cause to support Haze
id back you to get this and good on you yes there is cubs and scouts etc but to get kids away from social media ps5 etc is all good
This would be ideal for myself. I’ve been subscribed for a few years now and my mental health is depleting recently. I really appreciated your advice on getting out and about and plan to do so as soon as I’m able. Keep up the good work mate.
I reckon this would be great for me!!!, I’ve just stumbled on this video and I reckon I could sell all this gear for £299 !

@Olhamo I'm still young at heart, longing to go sleep under the stars with my old dog by my side. Its a must soon as the weather improves. 😃
Great set-up. I think the mystery mini-zip is for an electric hook-up if you pitch up on a commercial camp-site
I'd imagine that little hole could be for electric hook up at campsites, maybe. Not sure.

So lovely to give the gear away. Hope whoever has it is enjoying their summer!
Can’t forget a lovely bottle of wine for the cold nights, great video love the gear!!
I have a brain injury and have gathered new and second hand kit together, i just need some courage to go and try out.

The only problem I can see with a 10 is it very very light. Decathlon do a lot of tents at blackout and I find this is a game changer

Yep ... Hazey ... Opening so you can plug in to the mains electric in the nearest tree trunk when wild camping in a remote forest !!!! 🌳🌳🌳🌳🤠🤠

Great video, zip at side is for electrical hook up at campsites. Excellent budget tent. Thanks
Great 👍. Another couple of weeks, hopefully warms up a bit. Good tent I thought.
The small zip is for your unsuite facilities should you get happy on the cans in a rain storm 🎉
