last turn round 1, could you/should you have tossed your nectar to reset the food tray? or did you want to leave it as is to give them less options? would've been 1 additional nectar spent in the forest ...

Good call! I think I'm still adjusting to these new boards, finding out the best ways to use nectar etc. I often forget you can discard food to reset the feeder just because it's so rarely used, but for sure something to pay attention to!

I think I would have gone with your original plan of playing the Snipe and drawing the frigatebird in round three. I've found with wood duck you often need more card draw than just 1 card per turn, and I think it's even more true with the wagtail.
Your defensive play taking the rats is also really interesting; I'm not sure if I would think to do that, but it's definitely worth it if you can delay raven by a turn or two. Really smart play.
I'm looking forward to your coverage of the rest of the tournament.

Hmmm. You’re not worried about revealing good cards for your opponent when you reset the tray? It seems like rule 16 on steroids! If you have a tuck and draw card that you activate after the WW, I think the WW becomes one of the strongest birds in the game though.

Definitely a risk and a drawback! I think Willie-Wagtail is strong on its own but for sure shines even more with a tucking bird alongside it
