- Finally after felt like 5 years I got my Turtles in Disguise 4 Pack! In this video I review everything inside this awesome box, go over everything's cartoon history, discuss all of the Easter eggs on the packaging, and talk a lot about turtle disguises! Sorry for any of the still shots that move, I tried to freeze all of them, but missed a couple.
the slap hands fit perfectly into the pockets of the trench coats and can get really great poses using them... GREAT REVIEW as always..

Special thanks to Jeremiah Napier who pointed out that the Rocksteady Wanted Poster showed up in the Season 3 episode Mutagen Monster. When I make my 2021 all accessories explained video I’ll have to include a picture of it as well as some updates I have for the accessories from 2017-2020.
Update 2! - I’ve been looking through all of my screenshots and I found one that may be a an actual gum reference. In the season 3 episode turtles on trial, Krang gets stuck on a piece of gum when he’s trying to crawl back to the module after his giant robot was destroyed. It could also be a reference to Leonardo is Missing where the guys go to the Blowhard Bubble Gum Factory to stop Bebop and Rocksteady from stealing all the baseball cards.
Update 3! - in the first episode turtle tracks there’s a pizza with ice cream on it, but no anchovies.
Update 4 I made a mistake. The turtles are dressed up as punkers in Shredder’s New Sword and not The Irish Jig is Up.
Once again awesome review, Great detail and attention. If they released more turtles disguises not the turtles but the clothing from the show, which ones would you want to see? I’d be more interested in the punk rockers in the mobsters clothing? Now that the TMNT collection has been announced what was your favorite TMNT game back then?
I’d like the punk rock ones. That’d be great. They’d probably go with either the winter clothes or the construction worker clothes since they showed up a lot. The winter clothes especially. Favorite game? That’s a tough one haha. I’ve probably played turtles in time the most on snes, but that original turtles arcade game really blew my mind out when it first came out in arcades. I really hope this collection has all of the correct music and not the later soundtrack that they had to replace it with. I loved the first game boy game a lot as a kid. It was the first game I ever rented and I beat it in the two days I had. I still take that and back to the sewers with me a lot when I take my gba on trips. I have the good folding one with the back light. The first nes game was really cool, but it use to drive me crazy all the time as a kid. I never had an nes so I had to play it at friends. I could never get past the dam level. Now as an adult I keep dying trying to beat the outside of the technodrome. I need to beat it though. I can beat some other really hard nes games so there’s no excuse anymore haha.

@@razrentals8897 Oh hey, I think I know the origin of the Ice Cream Fish pizza. From what I remember it wasn't on screen but rather it was a line said by either Michaelangelo or Raphael in a first season episode. " Who ordered Anchovies and Ice-cream?" I believe that was the line.

I don't mind my shiny turtles in disguise as I feel that it gives them a wet look as a turtle would have they are not tortoises so they should not look dry just my opinion

Very nice! In your video you said you haven’t been able to review it because you had way too many other stuff to review first? I know the struggle all too well haha. I have like 20 motuo toys I just can’t get to haha. Plus the new madballs! The hardest part is not opening them until you can review them.

@@ActionDisplayChannel yes I was able to swap them! I boiled some water, poured it into a bowl, and then soaked just the feet in them for a little bit. I tried to get inside the joint to warm up the hole, but not the actual ankle. They were pretty easy to pull off then with out damaging the hole or the peg.

Very nice review, but overall I’ll be giving you a grade of 98 on this report, Sir. 😂
So, I just have two main issues 1) with the box Easter Egg that looks like pink gunk and 2) the unexplored cultural history of the disguise masks.
1 ) Pink Gunk:
At first I thought the reference came from the same bubblegum episode too, but the details of it didn’t make sense as to what Easter Egg find it was pointing to.
I think it’s actually from episode, “Invasion of the Krangazoids”, where Krang is exasperated to be working with inferiors to his intellect, and decides to clone himself into 6 other Bubble walking Krangs.
The pink gunk is the clump of cells forming inside a test tube clone tank that eventually turns into a clone.
Each Clone has a different colored Bubble Walker and NECA is all about army building those variants.
Krang is actually a “de-evolved” version of his species, whose final form is some large dinosaur/Pizza Monster sized alien. So, we could be getting 6 variants of a fully evolved “Krangazoid” figure.
2 ) Tor Johnson Latex Mask:
The entire theme and flow of this animation is mainly pulled from the crazy, over the top, cheesy title names and plots from low budget Hollywood B-Movies, and direct parodies of Hollywood’s Golden Era from the 40’s, 50’s.
Step back and say these words slowly aloud: Teenage, Mutant, Ninja, and Turtles. Don’t they sound like a title of a B-Movie? Hmm. Now, add “Pizza Eating” in front, and you have the recipe for a billion dollar franchise.
Well, anyway, Tor Johnson was a Swedish wrestler turned Hollywood actor, who’s shtick was of a bald 400 pound, slow, dim-witted, white-eyed, large imposing lummox.
He played in a series of lower budgeted B-Movies of the 50’s and 60’s, and was later depicted in comics, along with a mass production of a horror Halloween mask of his likeness during the 60’s and 70’s.
Most of these cultural references go right over our heads, because we were too young to understand them.
Every episode title name is a nod to the era of B-Movies, which most of us don’t get. ( Well, I know I don’t ).
It’s like how we understanding quotes from wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, or even the Rock, but we don’t understand the cultural references to the classic Humphrey Bogart Fedora Hat and Trench-coat that was a staple of the golden era of cinema. ( I don’t get Casablanca either 🤷♂️).
3) Rooftop vent.
Is it just box art aesthetics, or a reference from somewhere in the series? At this point I don’t know. I might go to the source and ask Mr. Zammit himself, but any definitive help would be welcome.
Question: Why didn’t they just call it Ninja Pizza instead of Vinnie’s?
Answer: In a Reddit post Dan Elton said he thought it was for legal reasons why they couldn’t use, “Ninja Pizza”.

Haha a 98 is pretty great! If only I had TMNT history instead of Chemistry in High School. I’ve seen Tor Johnson before but never remember his name. For whatever reason he didn’t pop into my mind when I wrote everything out but I defiantly agree it’s him. I mostly remember him being the guy Wizard magazine thought would make a good Radiation Man in an Avengers movie back in the mid 90s. I can’t remember if he was dead at the time haha.
The Ninja Pizza legal thing is pretty interesting. It would be funny if The actual owners of Ninja Pizza saw the turtles as kids and decided to open a pizza place called Ninja Pizza. now they won’t let Neca use the name on toys haha. There’s probably a crap load of Vinnie’s out there in America.
Invasion of the Krangezoids was such a cool episode. I never saw it as a kid, but when I finally saw it as an adult I was amazed to finally see Krang’s real body. As a kid I always thought he would have been in the stomach of his real body. I didn’t think he was actually the head of a dinosaur looking thing. I’ll have to go take a look at the episode again and take some screen grabs of the pink stuff your talking about. I haven’t done a full picture grab of that episode yet. Whenever I make my 2021 accessory explanation video I’ll put that in there and mention you told me about it. I’ll also talk about the gum Krang gets stuck in on Turtles On Trial and leave it up to the viewer. When I do my 2021 accessories video I have to mention a few things about the items I missed while making the reviews last year.
The thing about the vent is I could see it being something specific haha. At this point all bets are off. Neca has been throwing as much stuff as they can into the line so you never know.
Also, when you update remember to speculate on what potential figure NECA could be using the Easter Egg for.
The Swatter character is a parody of Shredder and Trevor made a vow in the Fwoosh Punk Frog interview (i think) to make every iteration of the Shredder. They have at least 13 different Shredders from insect fly form to Stern glitter-metallic, and he wants to make ‘em all.
So, will we get pre-teen Turtles too? What potential clues could they be teases us with. Capeesh?

This set is amazing. I’m a lil biased cuz it’s the only toon bros I have but they are literally exactly l what I always wanted growing up. I got the glossy ones and they’re still incredible. The heads and hands are amazing and open up all kinds of neat stuff. The accessories are just amazing as well. Pete is a nifty addition.
Only things I think are missing both link to Mikey. This set doesn’t have the spinning nunchuck and his grappling hook. Not a big deal though cuz this set is pack with all kinds of neat stuff.
Thanks! Have you seen the new turtle 4 pack with these heads, but the brighter colors? I never bought the original NECA promo art turtles so I may pick them up. I don’t think they have any new items, but there was some stuff that I never got because I never got those two packs like the two pizza boxes. I wonder if they have the bebop and rocksteady cut outs too.

It’s basically a repaint of the tid bros with new paint but only has weapons, Mikey’s grappling hook, some pizza boxes and slices and some communicators. No paper goods. All for the low, low retail price of $149.99 apparently. I’m…. A lil peeved about it.
Apparently metalhead, pizza monsters and foot soldiers hit targets at the same time. Hoping to find one of each. Stoked to get a shot at em again. Hopefully neca does rereleases more often.

Glad you got these. I ordered 2 from NECA last year but then recently got the dreaded email saying it will be delayed by up to 9 months.
That’s such a bummer. I couldn’t believe when I saw people post the emails saying that. Hopefully you get them sooner!

Great video as always my friend. You didn’t cover the Easter egg picture of the wanted Rocksteady in the jail uniform. It probably wasn’t in the cartoon at all but would of been nice if you said something that it was or wasn’t in it. Yes you did point it out, but didn’t say if you saw it or not in the cartoon. I haven’t seen that poster anywhere in the show yet, but now I’m starting to wonder if I missed it somewhere. I thought it was just a gag, but It seems a little specific. I can’t tell if it was a joke by the artist or an actual Easter egg. If I find it I’ll pin a comment on here.

Another viewer just commented that the Wanted Poster of Rocksteady is from the episode Mutagen Monster from season 3.

@@razrentals8897 Yeah, it was originally supposed to arrive around January but they had those factory damage issues so it was delayed over 9 months lol. Just glad it's finally coming. Although since I'm in Canada and it's winter, I won't be touching them for a few hours after they arrive lol

Ok I’ll be the one to say it…. Only the heads look matte. The rest of the bodies look just as shiny as my original TID. This rerelease would be a must buy for me if the entire thing matched the heads.
Great video! I preordered these at the same time as you but have to wait an extra 9 months due to some issue and Neca choose to delay all international preorders. Hope it’ll be worth the wait when they come in September/October 😢

4:52 that's actually from the episode "the mutagen monster" from season 3. After the failure in the beginning of the episode there's a scene in the Technodrome where Rocksteady shows this up to Krang.
13:08 it's a unique model of turtle communicator specifically for April (which was included in her two pack with the Foot soldier). And since she's getting kidnapped quite often, the device has a tendency to break as well. It's a nod to the Queen among damsels in distress.
29:45 that's because the SDCC turtles were just a repaints from the "arcade set" that was released a year before. If you look at the sprites of the turtles in the first arcade game - you'll see the striking resemblance, since Neca was recreating this appearance instead of cartoonish. But I have to point out that the design of the turtles in that game was based on the first season (yeah, their head still looks a little bit different). And since I am a fan of the first miniseries, this design is more preferable for me.
1:07:10 it's the model of pizza slice from the season 2. In that season the designs are quite simple and pizza is no exception - it has a two-tone colouring with a little pepper dots. For more detail check out "Splinter no more" episode - TMNT eat this sort of pizza in the prologue.
1:08:05 this kinda looks like exclusive pizza for Pete from the episode "What Michelangelo good for", since it has a yellow worm-like parts and the pizza from the opening has a mushrooms.

Hey I was just looking over my screenshots while trying to find the throwing weapons included with the upcoming ninja turtle gang member. I think I may have found an actual gum reference. Krang gets stuck on a piece of gum in the season 3 episode turtles on trial after his robot is destroyed. What do you think? Also I can’t find those stupid throwing stars yet haha. I did find every item from the neutrino set. I had screenshots of them all already. The weapon that’s been said to be an ice ray is actually a heat ray.
@@razrentals8897 all of weapon items in Smash's gang accessories you can see on the wall in that Dojo in different shots - that's what Randy said. With the gum reference - yep, that's what I was thinking, thanks to MersoX and his "palooza project" for reminding me of that episode. But also in season 3 in episode "Turtles everywhere" there was a scene where Mikey was eating a chewing gum and threw a wrapping paper outside of the turtle Van - that's when the automatic garbage cleaner started to chasing them (by Shredder's order), but in the end Mike told everybody that it was his fault.
Congrats to you for founding every accessory in the Neutrinos set, but since almost all of them are from their specific episodes, it's not very hard. But did you find the electronic device from Super Rocksteady and Mighty Bebop set?
@@jeremiahnapier2516 only two of the devices are from the neutrino episodes. Ones from the big break in, another from the gangs all here and the heat ray is from the ice creature episode. The electronic device that comes with super bebop and mighty rocksteady is from return of the technodrome. I also noticed that if you look at the packaging top center there’s a bomb in it. That’s from Mr. Ogg. I know the drill gun is from hot ridding teenagers so I’m pretty sure the bigger gun is used by rocksteady. I have a few pictures, but they look the same but a little different. I need to search for more screen shots of him using it. I also didn’t have a picture of the robots using the parking meter so I have to go find one of those too. I haven’t found a screen shot the rock soldiers using the rifle with the scope either so I have to go back and check the shows.

Huh, the QC on Mike's feet is glaring, and those beaks not being flush as well. Still, very thorough review. Did you get Mike's feet fixed?
I know, the beaks is the worst because you can’t fix it. I was able to switch the feet. Someone suggested I use boiling water and let them warm up a bit so I could easily pull them off and it worked great.
I kind of like the old releases more.

My pack has many QC issues, including two right feet for Raph. I contacted Customer Service about two months ago about that and another issue and there's still no resolution. Very deflating.
Holy crap! They really need to help you out there. I understand mistakes happen, but you pay all that money they should have a bunch of extra parts just to help people out.
@@razrentals8897 Absolutely. Thanks man. It seems in a general sense this pack tends to have more QC issues and inconsistencies than usual, from what I've read/read. Even you got inverted feet and a wonky Pete. I wonder if there's a reason behind it
@@merso10 maybe they switched factories. They also had the problem where a bunch of these sets came in damaged and they had to tell people they needed to delay their packs another 9 months. I don’t know if that was shipping damage or maybe quality problems.

What's your favorite episode from the original cartoon series ? Mine is the episode called the gangs all here ware one of the turtles turn into a human and he keeps changing forms.
I don't know why its my favorite even though I have no idea that this is episode even existed until I finally watched it.
Some of my favorites are shredder and splintered (which I watched 1000 times as a kid), case of the killer pizza, enter the fly, the Maltese hamster just because it’s like an old detective movie. Most of my favorites are from seasons 1-5 because that’s what I mostly remember watching as a kid. I only saw bits and pieces of 6-7, because I moved on to Batman and X-men. I didn’t even know about the red sky episodes until I bought the first season of the show on dvd when it came out.
@@razrentals8897 I did not actually grew up with the 80's turtles (I love them ) I grew up with the 2012 turtles and the thing that brought me into them when I was maybe 4 or 5 years old, was a little add on one of my childhood barbie movies ironically. And I did't actually watch the turtles until we got the first 4 movies in dvd set when i first saw the first movie I did not like it. I much perferd the 3 movie and going back on it now I can understand why people hate it.
@@srienasparklebronytv my one son use to love the 2003 show and he’s watch my dvds a lot. My other son was the perfect age to get into 2012 when it was coming out. At first I didn’t like the animation style because I love 2d, but it grew on me. Especially the storytelling and creepy episodes. I think the 1990 movie was shocking for a lot of kids when they first saw it. It was pretty violent and dark when compared with the 80s show most people were use to.

The sdcc look much more like the animation from season 1
Personally don't like the matte finish, mainly because of the lazy "cell shaded" look. Proper cell shading pain needs at minimum highlights and shading and they keep it to lazy two tone which looks bad for the premium price. A simple gloss finish accomplishes the same thing without the paint apps.
Emulating a cheaply produced cartoon from 30 years ago results in a cheap deco at premium price. I'd rather they emulated the intro for a better look. The flat matte works better for comic figures as when well done it has a hand drawn look but I don't like if for toon turtles.

I avoided buying these thru NECA due to the glossy finish. Sigh. If only I knew. Especially as I don't live in the US and little chance of getting these here.
Don’t beat yourself up about it. Sometimes things can change for the worse when you have a later preorder of an item that’s already been out so you never know.

My Donny’s legs were on backwards! But I couldn’t see they were because of his pant. The feet were articulating funny so, I took his pant off and I LOL’d. 😅 luckily with the new hip articulation they popped off easily. Kinda odd. But this set is amazing nonetheless.
