One of the many great things about Julie Wilson is that she was always learning new material and from contemporary composers. I'm missing her already. We love you, Julie!!
So sad to hear that legendary performer Julie Wilson has died. Back in 1991 she came to Indy to perform at a benefit for The Damien Center where I was working at the time. She not only performed that night, she set up a special performance at the Center for just clients so that those who were to ill to attend that evening could be entertained. She was amazing that day. She sang, told jokes and chatted. This was a time when so many still felt ostracized and she made everyone man and woman in that private audience feel special. And someone told her it was my birthday and she called up to sing Happy Birthday to me. It was a moment I have never forgotten.
I saw Julie Wilson perform several times in NYC. Plus I had the pleasure and honor of getting to know her a little bit and playing my violin for her three times. She was the ultimate in elegance and class and style. Every single song that she performed was a very gorgeous and breathtaking experience, and it was a masterclass in interpreting and acting out a song. I feel so sad that Julie has just has just passed. So terribly heartbreaking. My very deepest and heartfelt condolences to her family and all of her very dear friends.
I love how in the first 3 seconds of this clip, you hear someone in this audience whisper, "God she's great." Yup. A real master class, every time she performs.
I met her a few times and heard her sing several times, always in an intimate setting. A lovely lady and a class act.

A true lady with so many gifts - especially her humanity.
Everyone who was touched by her in any way will never forget
her greatness - and beauty.

So lovely.
Lovely on so many levels. I admire her dress (But somehow dont see myself wearing it.)
Awesome!
she sings to you, not at you rare Artiste
She is a very down to earth Midwestern girl despite the Manhattan sophisticated image and reputation.
TERIFFIC!
Silly song to waste talent on.
