The second fish is a cutbow. Cross from both. We get a lot of those at some of the lakes in Ca. Lake Amador is known not only for their huge trout but their cutbows too. Great video as always.

We did a fishing merit badge trip over to Chelan a couple weeks ago. We all caught a lot of rainbow trout. Scouts cleaned and cooked it using just salt, pepper, and bit of oil. They thought it was the best tasting fish ever! Simple things in life can have such big impact in our youths growth and learnings. Amen brother! Thanks for sharing
I so agree with you on the eating the skin. Most of the nutrients are in the skin and when you get the skin a tad bit crispy it really adds to the flavor of the fish. Thanks for sharing and I really enjoyed this video.

Now you have a reason to get yourself a nice ultralight rod for those trout. I've been using a Shakespeare micro series and it's been pretty good for a cheap rod.

When they act like that put a more natural color on. They are keyed on natural baits. Try a trout color. Try a Thomas spoon verse a kastmaster. They are lighter you can fish super slow and has more wiggle. Try slowing down more and bumping or stopping during your retrieve. Then speeding up. Starting off fast can scare them. Sometimes they want fast to chase.

West of the Little Pend Oreille chain lakes (Lake Thomas, Gillette and Sherry Lake) I used to meander along the Little Pend Oreille River and fish the Beaver ponds with my trusty Rooster Tail or small Rapala and nail 3 and 4 pound Cutthroat! A piece of Heaven on Earth! Watching this video brought back so many memories. Having my 3 sons trailing along, we did MANY a fish-fry and, occasionally, legs and eggs with some unfortunate Bullfrogs. It reminded me how blessed my life has been and encouraged me to see a young man finding the same!

There is also a cut-bow which is when a rainbow and cutthroat spawn and the fish will have characteristics of both fish.

Agreed, I love mountain lakes and camping up in the mountains. The PNW has some great forests and lakes.
