Well, some of those “faults” have been fixed on newer clones. The font is closer to the real thing and the volume control is present on most if not all newer clones, as well as a working speaker that makes sound while charging, connecting them or opening them up. The box is still not fully yet there on quality tho.
I bought 16 dollar fake AirPod pros 2. They look so identical to the real ones and they even fit the cases. Although they don’t have the pop up or tracking, they overall work pretty well.
My daughter once bought a pair pair of fake EarPods. We knew they were fake, they were advertised as fakes and cost a little less than half as much as the real EarPods, I think she said they cost around $80. But they looked to same, and sounded the same. Or close enough it was difficult to hear the difference. But within 3 months, the battery life started going to hell. Within 6, maybe 7 months the battery life was down to an hour or so between full charges. She also noticed the range from her device was noticeably less. Maybe 20, 25 feet, and if there were walls or doors between her and the fake EarPods, the signal would cut out. The last I heard, they now take up space in her junk drawer.
I’ve ordered some from DHgate and I haven’t charged them in months and they are still holding a good charge. I’ve had them for 7 months now, and no issues.
As for the tips being hard to come off on the fakes, I just got a legit pair from Best Buy yesterday where the first time I went to take the tips off it required a lot more force than I expected it to.
At 1:05 You can clearly see the difference on the first row of texts on the right side sticker. There is no spacing between "Pro" and "(2nd generation)" whereas the authentic one will never have such typo or formatting error. Look in the details to identify fake ones
You saved me from getting scammed, they even spent "Designed" wrong on the pair I was gonna buy and the serial number was the same as the one in the video however when i checked it it came back fine. But your comment saved me
I’ve noticed on the fake box the seal tab you pull off is more a paper feel with small cuts compared to the real box is more like a plastic that pulls off in one line. Can you confirm?
Yes agree! When I peeled it off, it didn’t rip perfectly smoothly, and was a thick paper as opposed the plastic that rips super smooth from the real box
Ok so i enjoyed your video and your are the only one that has weighted them. I bought 2 fakes and here are the updated fake identifiers. 1. Made in Vietnams or Assembled in Vietnam- Fake 2. Same serial number on left inside of charger and box 3. Tip holder the 1 side is not raised. They have updated so the tips click on to a circle 4. Box description they still have it device,iPadOS device, Apple Watch,or Mac (missing the spaces) and the 3rd os from top is not capitalized. 5. Hold phone light up to charge lid...nothing on the sides (hollow) 6. Box and all weigh 194g 7. Each ear bud is 4g 8. Still plastic for where the charger sits 9. Tape around cable is glued 10. Try to pull plastic away from charger in front of where the buds sit...fake pulls away fairly easy 11. Charge cap the recycle icon is on the right side. 12. Ive also seen video of speaker holes has mesh mine is a shiny metal mesh not sure what real has. 13. Mine does chime 1x when plugging in I dint have iPhone but bought these 2 off FB for my kids for Christmas and they both say connectivity issues. Son is 21 so he was the one that informed me there were fake and sent me a basic link on the difference. Hope this helps.
So I just bought 2 new at ATT.... Box is smaller and white. The seal is not perforated like the fake. Also the picture on the box of the charger has the cable (real) Real confirmed 246g Oh wow the pictures of the buds themselves on box has shinny reflection. Real also made in Vietnam. I'll add more when I find
Funny thing is you're saying this even before comparing the box because you're now watching this and had no idea what a fake box looked like when on poshmark. BTW everything on poshmark is real or they would get banned if found out and lose their livelihood for a quick sale? Stop it. If the person you bought from had like no sales and nothing to purchase except the iPods then their whole account is fake and it's your fault if you purchased from such a person, but if they have high rating and lots of products to buy then they're real. Poshmark is like a close nit type family, when it comes to almost all the go above and beyond what they should just by sending out say pants, they'll wash them in expensive detergents or sprays and will even give you thank you cards etc. I trust them more than Amazon or eBay
I want to thank you for making this educational video in spreading awareness. I bought mines on Amazon and I was afraid they were fake. Your video helped a lot.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was going to buy one from FB marketplace but backed out after realizing how much they cost at the Apple store. Looking up the serial number helped because it led to other fakes with the same number
Hey man! I just want to say I am really inspired by you and your dedication to keep people informed. nice review but i think you could have also mentioned that in the fake ones the serials numbers on the case and both pods are the same although on the real ones must be 3 different - charging case same as box but pods different. I think when purchasing - this is the easiest and most reliable way to distinguish.
For 1/6 of the price. The sound quality and software integration is insane and I’d honestly rather buy the fakes. I could care less. I’m happy with them and nobody is gonna tell me their fake so who cares.
There is a medium amount of difference, I’d say the real ones are 9/10 noise cancelling quality and the fake ones are 7/10. They definitely still do a good job just because the physical seal in the eartip does most of the sound blocking
Thanks for the video, especially on the weight part. But you've missed a very important detail: when you connect first time it's not exactly the same popup: the message on the fake ones will be "NOT Your Airpods Pro". IMO one of the easiest ways to tell the difference - unless they improved it in the meantime, though i doubt they can do something about it.
that really means, that there is no chance to find a difference if you do not have the original ones? What is a point to look for differences if they sound almost the same?
Mine seem real except the Air Pods Pro font and I posted pictures on reddit and people think mine are fake. The serial number works though and match with the box/air pods pro 2.
Pretty sure I just bought some fake ones for $100, but they sound great. Definitely better sound than my original AirPods. They have been a little finicky though. Sometimes they pause for no reason or I’ve had the volume drop without promoting. If real AirPods are like this but even better than it might have just inspired me to make the leap at some point. What finally tipped me off, the paper vs plastic housing in the box. Mine was plastic. Then I tried the find-my test and the case never beeped, though the AirPods did. Finally I cross checked what should be the most recent firmware based on the recommendation of a comment to this video and its many generations back. Hasn’t automatically updated like it should. Thanks for the video. At some maybe I’ll weigh them just for fun.
i dint know if my airpods are fake because they take forever to connect on find my but they do sound , the black speaker thing also fell off on my left airpod
Yep I got caught on eBay paid £140 advertised as 100% Authentic. Everything this guy described rang alarm bells. They were so convincing to be fair but the inability to interchange the tips sealed the deal. Having my money back once returned. Just purchased direct from Apple with a personalised logo for free...happy days 😎
Also notice how the fake one the manual packaging doesn't lay perfectly flat and level on top like the real one. The fake one the manual package is puffy and bowed out. Also the real one the cut out at the top of the manual packaging is much smaller and as wide as the fake ones are. Also the corners of the box is more smooth and even and perfect and more sharp defined edges. The fake ones the edges are sloppy and not sharp and have tiny defects and unevenness or extra loose material sticking out at the corners.
Hello sir. Can u give me a link where to buy the FAKE one.. i want to buy one so so i ha ve a back up for my airpods pro since my airpods pro only lasted for 4hrs maximum. So i want an extra one to used for my work. I dont want to spend hundred extra for the real airpods 3. Thanks in advance
Thank you man, you just save $200. I almost bought the fake one and I type the serial number in and it said we're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been displaced.
I didn’t realize I got juiced until today actually when I took mine to the Apple Store for a repair. The battery wont hold a charge at all anymore and chooses when it wants to even take a charge. The case will say 100% on its battery when plugged in and working but the second it’s off the charger it drops to 0%
You should have shown us or tell us if the serial numbers on each AirPods are the same or not , cause I had a fake one and when I go to the settings on my phone it’s show me that the each AirPods have different serial numbers as well as the case ( 3 serials numbers in total ) But on the AirPods them self and the case I see the same serial numbers and I have read that ( for the real ones ) the case and the two AirPods have different serial numbers written on them .
I am so confused. I just checked the serial number on Apple and it has coverage till January 2025. I paid 70€ for mine used / refurbished. I am so confused because there are other things that apparently make them fake
Yes unfortunately the serial number isn’t the right way to check because fake pairs typically just copy another real pairs’ serial number. I would watch the video and check the other ways to tell
thank you for the tips! its really hard to find out what is fake. But a very good point is the weight. THX for great review. I bought new ones at amazone. And I was lucky.
The fake ones dont have conversation awareness or adaptive transparency. I checked my sister's and she doesn't have that compared to my friends one. They also get really squeaky and the sound goes out of one ear sometimes
Just brought some from a guy who said he brought them off bulk, guy has 150 positive reviews too. Hope they’re real when I get them after using this video to test the authenticity of it. Will that weight you measured for the real one be universal or will there sometimes be a deviation of +/- 1 g for example?
I think +/- 2g is a safe range, because our scales could be slightly inaccurate from each other’s scale. But broadly speaking they should the same weight universally
@@consumr yeah I was wondering that, wish I had your same scale. But if they tare fine, it shouldn’t be a problem. Will keep you posted! This video and your most recent was very helpful so Ty!
Thank you so much! I was able to test mine based on the majority of your steps. I even have the same scale as yours LOL. Thankfully mine weighs exactly the same. Such a relief, but I'll still go get a final test at Apple.
Thanks Man ! In my supercopy , initially it showed Apple care warranty too , but after few days , my iPhone detects it as “coverage expired “ and even in website too. Secondly , find my iPhone “play sound “ shows pending while AirPods in the box , but when I put the AirPods in ear , it starts playing sound . Spatial sound is too good. Volume increase / decrease not working if I try to squeeze the stem and ANC not upto the mark . But for 40$ it is as close to og. I was believing it as OG until I saw ur video and now am convinced it as supercopy 😂
Was your ios on ios 16? Bought them today but they show something totally dirrent in 'model name' rather than airpods pro 2 and there is no adaptive transparency option in the setting. But i am suspecting that I am on ios 15.1 maybe that's why. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
the best would be able to weigh them, that's typically a good way to test fake vs real for almost any product as the real will be consistent and the fake will almost always be off because of materials used.
I have a question i tried the fashlight think and it had magnets but the box the picture of airpods that is in the box is a little bit raised dose it mean they are fake ?
so would you say one of the sure fire ways to tell a fake pair is that the find my airpods once paired does not work at all. I have a guy trying to sell me a brand new pair for a hundred bucks. he's willing to let me pair them to test them out. not sure if I should do this
Yea my fake pair had all the same traits as yours although I was able to change tips , oh but mine have no left /right markings they actually don’t sound bad except too much bass
I just bought mine today and another valuable information, not sure if he covered it. The Fake box is different than the real. Glad I got real ones and know how to decipher fakes, also another piece of info, fakes are usually sold much less than real ones.
I bought my Airpods Pro from Facebook Marketplace 2 weeks ago for a bit over 200$. I had no idea there are fake Airpods around, so I wasn’t suspicious at all. Everything seemed right about them. The Airpods look and feel exactly the same, all functions seem authentic and there is also a valid serial number with one year warranty. I can also see them in the About section on my iPhone. What’s off and actually made me realise they are fake is the packaging, which is really similar to the one in this video. And also the charging cable which seems really low quality in comparison to my other original apple charging cables. It’s really interesting how much effort they put into making the actual headphones almost identical and then make little effort to make the rest 1:1. Well, atleast now I know I was scammed and will be much more cautious next time. I won’t probably buy any electronics anywhere else but on authorised e-shops from now on. It’s just not worth the risk to save some money on it :(

If you pay $40-100 for a pair and they turn up to be fake you actually got a decent deal for 50-80% off in my opinion lol
I just paid $60
It’s weird that the fake ones also got/get the free Apple Music redemption. Shouldn’t Apple know that is not “their” product 🤔
My guess is those are like B grade products like Jordan shoes the b grade shoes goes to the Nike outlet
Where did you get those from
Well, some of those “faults” have been fixed on newer clones. The font is closer to the real thing and the volume control is present on most if not all newer clones, as well as a working speaker that makes sound while charging, connecting them or opening them up. The box is still not fully yet there on quality tho.
so far the find my only works on the individual airpods, not the case, for clones. That's the only difference left now
I bought 16 dollar fake AirPod pros 2. They look so identical to the real ones and they even fit the cases. Although they don’t have the pop up or tracking, they overall work pretty well.
where did you get them from?
I got them from Temu
Thank you, very thorough and helpful. Hands down best overview I’ve ever seen of any product.

As for the tips being hard to come off on the fakes, I just got a legit pair from Best Buy yesterday where the first time I went to take the tips off it required a lot more force than I expected it to.
same with me
Are the Best Buy ones always real? I’m getting a little scared
I would assume so. Best Buy gets theirs directly from Apple. Never heard of Best Buy selling fake merchandise before
At 1:05 You can clearly see the difference on the first row of texts on the right side sticker. There is no spacing between "Pro" and "(2nd generation)" whereas the authentic one will never have such typo or formatting error. Look in the details to identify fake ones
what if the serial no. is valid, but no spacing between "pro" and "2nd gen"?
You saved me from getting scammed, they even spent "Designed" wrong on the pair I was gonna buy and the serial number was the same as the one in the video however when i checked it it came back fine. But your comment saved me

I’ve noticed on the fake box the seal tab you pull off is more a paper feel with small cuts compared to the real box is more like a plastic that pulls off in one line. Can you confirm?
Yes agree! When I peeled it off, it didn’t rip perfectly smoothly, and was a thick paper as opposed the plastic that rips super smooth from the real box

Im almost not convinced that theyre fake since theyre recognised as offical airpods when connecting to the phone. How do they do that?
Ok so i enjoyed your video and your are the only one that has weighted them. I bought 2 fakes and here are the updated fake identifiers.
1. Made in Vietnams or Assembled in Vietnam- Fake
2. Same serial number on left inside of charger and box
3. Tip holder the 1 side is not raised. They have updated so the tips click on to a circle
4. Box description they still have it device,iPadOS device, Apple Watch,or Mac (missing the spaces) and the 3rd os from top is not capitalized.
5. Hold phone light up to charge lid...nothing on the sides (hollow)
6. Box and all weigh 194g
7. Each ear bud is 4g
8. Still plastic for where the charger sits
9. Tape around cable is glued
10. Try to pull plastic away from charger in front of where the buds sit...fake pulls away fairly easy
11. Charge cap the recycle icon is on the right side.
12. Ive also seen video of speaker holes has mesh mine is a shiny metal mesh not sure what real has.
13. Mine does chime 1x when plugging in

Hey, great video! But would you be able to share the link where you bought the fake ones from?
omg thanks! these two sellers on Poshmark were selling NEW airpod pros for less than $100 and they looked so fake just from the packaging.

Looking up the serial number helped because it led to other fakes with the same number

nice review but i think you could have also mentioned that in the fake ones the serials numbers on the case and both pods are the same although on the real ones must be 3 different - charging case same as box but pods different. I think when purchasing - this is the easiest and most reliable way to distinguish.
Is that true? Ill look out for it

So if they it has the model number for the hk version but the serial number comes up with the AirPods on apple does it mean they’re fake or real ?
That’s not a good way to tell, because if you buy a real pair in Hong Kong, the serial will work as well. Should check the other signs
For 1/6 of the price. The sound quality and software integration is insane and I’d honestly rather buy the fakes. I could care less. I’m happy with them and nobody is gonna tell me their fake so who cares.
There is always a risk in these products but ok
How does the noise canceling on the fake airpods compare to the real ones? Is it close or is there a noticable difference?
There is a medium amount of difference, I’d say the real ones are 9/10 noise cancelling quality and the fake ones are 7/10. They definitely still do a good job just because the physical seal in the eartip does most of the sound blocking
Thanks for the video, especially on the weight part. But you've missed a very important detail: when you connect first time it's not exactly the same popup: the message on the fake ones will be "NOT Your Airpods Pro". IMO one of the easiest ways to tell the difference - unless they improved it in the meantime, though i doubt they can do something about it.
Mine connected as Noel’s airpod pros straight away, just like my old ones switched is that good
Improved already. They are listening, seeing comments and rectifying all mistakes
When i first got them it said that, but the serial number works and has them on the AirPods and box, is it still fake?
It also has a limited warranty
Thank goodness I bought the real ones from Amazon I was kind of nervous at first because they started making a static noise😅
Wow so they make static noise as a chip headphone? I mean mines got that sound too but i wasn't really sure if they were real
that really means, that there is no chance to find a difference if you do not have the original ones? What is a point to look for differences if they sound almost the same?
The don’t perform the same though. The fake ones tend to die much faster and there are issues with some of the advanced modes.
Thank you so much! Your video helped me avoid buying fake ones! This is the best overview you can find!

No I think it should work worldwide, why?
Also notice how the fake one the manual packaging doesn't lay perfectly flat and level on top like the real one. The fake one the manual package is puffy and bowed out. Also the real one the cut out at the top of the manual packaging is much smaller and as wide as the fake ones are. Also the corners of the box is more smooth and even and perfect and more sharp defined edges. The fake ones the edges are sloppy and not sharp and have tiny defects and unevenness or extra loose material sticking out at the corners.
Yeah those are great points!

You should have shown us or tell us if the serial numbers on each AirPods are the same or not , cause I had a fake one and when I go to the settings on my phone it’s show me that the each AirPods have different serial numbers as well as the case ( 3 serials numbers in total )
