Thanks for the endless support. Love y'all.
Hi
You're content is becoming so great and I can tell that.
@@user-xt7vj2im7g I agree! Loving the content too 😁
Knight Crime,
Love your vids, man! I really align with a lot of your tastes & takes on music... except the Smiths/Radiohead comparison.... That's just blatant blasphemy!! But then, the Bends is one of my top 10 of all time & is it's own supreme entity 😇
But, to the main reason I wanted to comment... You seem to have an affinity for dark themed music & so I'm wondering if you're familiar with Nick Cave? He has a huge back catalogue & his most recent works after his son died are too haunting & sad for me to listen to much but his 80s-90s work had always been on the seedy, sinister side of the human character. The Murder Ballads album is full of just what the title says. Killer tracks Man!! 😁 This man's a brilliant songsmith/lyricist/poet & captures characters & stories so well. A Modernday Bard
Hope you can find time to check it out if he's new to you & it grabs you like he did me. Cheers🤘✌️
Maynard doesn't seem to have had experienced sexual abuse, but it's been theorized that someone else in the band had. Honestly, if you actually start asking, more men have experienced sexual abuse than you'd expect. But, the lyrics also imply being forced into religious views. "Hands bound, head down, eyes closed, throat wide open" can imply being tied up an sexually assaulted, but also implies being made to pray. "My lamb and martyr". The nature of the song goes on to reveal its absolutely sexual abuse in the bridge, but, much like many of Tool's songs, there's a double meaning outside the expressed lyrics. Many of their songs dealing with sexual topics do this, like 4° and Stinkfist. They're definitely about anal sex and fisting, respectively, but are also about exploring your unexpressed interests and becoming desensitized to reality, respectively. Prison Sex is about child sexual abuse making one become an abuser in adulthood, but is also about having religious beliefs forced on a child who in turn pushes these beliefs on others. This doubly ties into sexual abuse in organized religion, which wasn't as well publicized at the time. We can absolutely see a distaste with organized religion throughout Tool and A Perfect Circle's lyrics, which is probably why it's so easy to relate the toe topics. And, personally, as someone sexually abused and forced into religion, both leave pretty permanent scars on the psyche.
I don’t get how you could ever listen to soad and not realize how political they are
imagine bro 😂😂😂
i dont give a shit i just want to hear the funny armenian men make funny sounds
@@sticklyboi BANANA BANANA TERRACOTTA PIE
But seriously it's kinda impossible to not know how political they are
@@orangedrivepalms5807 yeah, no disagreement here, i just personally tune out the meanings nowadays
im so fuckin sick of politics
@@sticklyboi well same, but still SOAD lyrics about politics are quite interesting and really different from the other political bands in my opinion
Maynard: "this song's about recognizing the cycle of abuse in yourself"
Crowd: WOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAHHHHH
LOL WHEEEUUUUUuuuu
it was a crowd of metal heads, haha, think they cared?
It sucks bc Maynard himself has some accusations of targeting some of his sexual partners. He did loose some of himself to his abuse. It's very sad
Tool fans lmao
Punk fucking rockkkkk!!! Woooo!
awesome
Thanks, baby
tuv your new song overdose is great, i’ve been listening to it on repeat. You’re my favorite youtuber, i wish you the best :)
👍
@@IEYE_S0RE 🦅
@@Knightytt PLS 💀💀this is how my friends and I talk to each other
A line from Prison Sex that made my skin crawl that wasn’t touched on in this video was “My lamb and martyr, this will be over soon, you look so precious, you look so precious now.” That whole ending is just unsettling and that’s why it’s one of my favorites by Tool.
Um...I must admit I don't quite get what that even means. Lamb I am guessing is child though.
@@joesmith9216 a lamb is seen as pure and innocent, and a martyr is someone how sacrifices their life for their beliefs. The “lamb and martyr” is the pure and innocent child which the abuser will sacrifice said purity and innocence for his sick thrills. “This will be over soon” must be his way of comforting the child he is abusing.
@@ThatOneDude521 Ok, very well said, I knew lamb meant child. Are you into studying MK ULTRA??? you have a very good grasp on it. Maynard is a mk ultra/cia victim, he has military background too.
Something important to mention about Suffer Little Children after it gained a lot of controversy, Morrissey met with some relatives of the Moors murders victims. He apparently explained to them his intention behind the song, and the relatives accepted his band’s reflection on the murders as sincere. Kinda surprising that Morrissey, who’s notorious for making crazy statements, could come off so respectfully, but it’s good to know he could at least explain and make sure the victims’ families were okay with his song.
A lot of people listen to bands without listening to the lyrics and thus miss the political points many bands make *cough*RageAgainstTheMachineFans*cough*
Yeah you right. I swear some guys think "Killing In The Name" is about like, getting mad at your mom for taking away your Xbox or something.
It's about the police being kkk
Please😭. I love that song because of the lyrics fr
More like rage in favor of the machine. I kid…mostly
@@Tisbilly Speaks out against the system. Signs to the most main stream of labels. "Oh rebellion, that's a good dollar!"
I just remember the Hogs dancing to Killing in the Name at a blue lives matter rally lol
one song i don’t see people talk about when it comes to disturbing songs is ‘asking for it’ by hole. courtney love has discussed that she wrote the song after she stage dived at one of their concerts and the audience began to strip her completely naked, even sticking their fingers in her. she said she didn’t even remember it until seeing a picture someone took of the night :((
I’m a huge hole fan and absolutely love that whole album. I heard years ago at lalapaloosa, My cousin Jen went and Courtney changed on stage and people started booing and she screamed “fuck you you never seen your Mothers boobs you prudes”! It made me love her all the more when she told me that story.
what the fuck
also Jennifer's body which was inspired by a real woman Colleen Stan who was kidnapped and tortured for seven years
@@simonferocious I thought Jennifer’s body was based on a true story of a group of boys who sacrificed a teen girl for fame in the true story the girl died in the movie she came back as a demon right? I read the “The Girl In The Box” about Colleen and that sicko who kept her under his bed for it was something like over 5 years his wife actually helped her gain enough confidence to escape at that point she had freedoms but thought “The Company” would come kill her he had her brainwashed into thinking it was true. I’m confused 🤔
@@samsalamander8147 it’s based on both actually ! frankie mentioned colleen because there’s a reference to her case in the song, the lyrics that reference her are ‘he keeps you in a box by the bed, alive but just barely’.
Dude I remember years ago when I first realized “One” was based on a movie, so being curious I went and watched “Johnny Got His Gun” at 2 in the morning, that movie fucked me up for days, all I could think about was the existential horror of the whole situation, needless to say I haven’t watched it again
One is something to play to make anyone who is struggling with body issues appreciate their body :)
The novel is worse.
Tool seriously has some really awesome music with some very dark themes. One of the best bands ever!!!
🎶PUMPED UP KICKS 🎶
🎶All the other kids are the Pumped Up Kicks you better run better run faster than my bullet🎶
As a middle aged metal head, you guys make me so proud to see the love continuing the generations ❤️

I saw System of a Down live twice in my life. Before and after their hiatus. I'm glad kids these days know about my favorite band.
Gen z here. SOAD is one of my favorite metal bands. I want you to know that the band’s legacy will not die any time soon.
@@oxitape1563 Awesome! Fuck yeah dude. Sugar is still one of my favorites!
@@MySqueezingArm Sugar is indeed a certified hood classic.
I saw them in Baltimore in early 2002. Also on the bill: Mudvayne, Slipknot, Rammstein
System of a down was my first love to metal music I remember discovering Toxicity on my freshman year back in 2017 and I remember till 2018 Soad was the only band that I listen almost everyday (alongside with Queen). The self titled album is my favourite every second of that album i loved it
Hearing you talk in-depth about anything is great, but especially music that can bring people towards a deeper meaning of lyrics. Love all of your content and I'm so proud to support you.
Thanks, Willow! Glad to hear that you loved the video. Hope you're doing well.
@@Knightytt I'm doing well, hope you are too. FYI, love those sword earrings!
Love the deftones flag in the background
Glad you noticed!
IOWA off of IOWA by SLIPKNOT is literally about "spending time" with a corpse. I don't even think anything is more this than that.
I feel the thing is tho, The songs here either 1: Are about tragic, real events or 2: About dark or disturbing personal experiences of people in the band. But Iowa’s title track is more drunk Corey yelling about weird and fucked up shit. However on those first two albums they did have a lot of personal tracks on those first two albums Eyeless was written by Corey about abandonment, Scissors was written by Joey (R.I.P) about self harm and suicidal thoughts and later in the song Corey stated singing about addiction, Skin ticket was written by Cory about his experience living in rural Iowa, and probably worst of all, metabolic witch Cory wrote about when he was assaulted as a child.
And if you think “spending time” with a corpse is bad, read the lyrics to almost any Death metal song….
So glad that there are younger generations appreciating the brilliance of the book and movie of Johnny Got His Gun. A friend lent me the book and when the movie hit our local arthouse theatre we both went to see it for the first time.
At the end of it we stumbled into the lobby absolutely shook. Couldnt talk, couldnt disengage from what we just experienced for quite some minutes.Should be on EVERYONE’S “Must read/see” list( and better yet, with other people to share, experience, discuss).
How does it end?
Actually, Morrissey later became friends with Lesley Ann Downeys mother later in her life. The reason for the song existing at all is due to the murders having an effect on Morrissey, he would have been very young and vulnerable in Manchester at the time. The song gets a bad rap but it's beautiful honestly
Yeah, you can feel in the lyrics how they contemplate the life of the kids that could have been if those monsters who took their lives never existed. I'm glad these kind of songs exists, to never forget these things happened and to never repeat them again.
@@jbgra2566 couldn't agree more! It's so somber and beautiful. The media really went after the smiths for more than a few of their songs, reel around the fountain is another song off the first album that got a bad rap despite being amazing
“How many nails are gonna have to keep going in this coffin?” Has no business being so funny of a line LMAO great video as always
so excited to see you cover the manics. richey has been an idol to me for a long time- seeing him in the thumbnail made me drop everything! wearing my homemade holy bible shirt right now, in fact. keep up the awesome work!!!
This video got me into MSP and this shit hits 🔥
same i saw him on the thumbnail and immediately clicked
I will recommend these albums too if you wanna get into Thrash Metal-
Anthrax-Among The Living
Nuclear Assault-Handle With Care & Game Over
Xentrix-For Who's Advantage
Testament-The New Order & Practice What You Preach
Exodus-Bonded By Blood
Dark Angel-Darkness Descends
Death Angel-The Ultra-Violence
Forbidden-Twisted Into Form
If you ever make a part 3, one song I'd like to see is Mein Teil by Rammstein. It's about 2 men (Armin Meiwes and Bernd Jürgen) who met on a cannibal Cafe website. Armin always wanted to eat someone and Bernd dreamed of being eaten. Not sure if RUclips would let me describe it in more detail but I recommend looking into it and listening to the song, it's an absolute banger even if it's dark
Also gotta say you have great taste in music 👌
Speaking of disturbing German music, I’d totally recommend the album Zeichnugen des Patienten O.T. by Einstrüzende Neubauten. It’s based on the schizophrenic artist Oswald Tschirtner who spent most of his life in a mental hospital. My personal favourite song is Neun Arme, but I find Hospitalistische Kinder to be the most disturbing.
lol
DAS IST MEIN TEILLLLL!
Was so lucky to see Rammstein in concert last month and they played this song as well!
That one is really really well known tho i think some more obscure songs should get knoxn
Lol I always thought my part was a funny way of putting it.
Also the stage performance of that song is perfect.
I literally take one week to recover from the lyrics of "Prison Sex". I'm brazilian and I'm not fluent in english, so I didn't pay any much attention to the lyrics on the first hearing, but when I listened closely and find some translations, I just get really really bad. Now I'm okay and this song never stop of beeing one of my favorite TOOL's songs, but I needed a time to deal with this. It was hard.
gotta throw a personal one in from my favorite band ever
Ween - Mourning Glory, it's legitmately upsetting and disorienting to listen to no matter how many times you hear it. It's just layers of guitar feedback and distorted melodies with a super blown out fuzzy drum machine and vocals that go in and out of coherency. The song is vaguely about drugs, which they were on a lot of making that album and the previous one, and I think specifically it's about a really harrowing bad trip. The lyrics start out like a really weird nursery rhyme about three little pumpkins going into the woods but throughout it kind of gets more unhinged until the end which is just growing feedback and screaming "GET OUT OF THE WOODS" and "IT'S ONLY THE BEGINNING" over and over, before he kinda breaks the fourth wall and says "stop the tape". It's a crazy experience to listen to, highly recommend.
The crazy thing is that this was on their first major label record and while a lot of the other songs are really weird, they're all pretty humorous and self aware and in the very unique style of psychedelic pop rock that only Ween has ever managed to create. Throwing an insane, creepy noise track on it is just a crazy decision.
Then they made Ocean Man 5 years later
i saw serj tankian and i clicked instantly
i love serj so much
So glad to see the Manics in this video. I fangirled when I saw Richey in the thumbnail. Great to see their music being talked about, especially from a young American. I feel like they’ve faded into obscurity in the last 15 or 20 years and don’t get the love that they deserve. Their earlier music, especially the work that included Richey before he disappeared, deserves so much more recognition.
Manic Street Preachers and Smiths included in this video are 2 great picks, 4st 7ibs is one of the most beautiful dark songs ive ever heard as well as the rest of the The Holy Bible being a masterpiece.
^^
Plus the fact that Richey Edwards literally dissapeared around the time the holy bible was released and never was found again makes it darker
Agreed, it's the best album i have ever heard the lyrics are insanely good
Very pleased to see Richey-era Manics getting some love.
My personal favorite disturbing song is "Air Conditioned Nightmare" by Mr. Bungle. It doesn't seem super disturbing, and it's a whole banger in my opinion, but the lyrics refer to someone with Alzheimer's struggling in a nursing home. Also, I absolutely love the Radiohead poster in the background; they are an extremely nostalgic band for me because my dad has always really liked them.
also holy shit Infest the Rats' Nest is so good, I'm actually wearing my kgatlw shirt right now
Yes!!! Mr Bungle has been one of my favorite bands for many years! California is a MASTERPIECE. I'll never forget the first time I heard Pink Cigarette...the haunting vocals are so beautiful and then that ending...the countdown. They are wholly underrated imo ❤
Mike Patton is a god amongst mortals.
The deftones poster in the back is my favorite
Mr bungle is so underrated
Johnny Got His Gun is a book too! Definitely worth reading!
HOW DOES IT END?!?!?!?!?
If a part 3 happens I’m gonna recommend “Man Wearing A Helmet” by Bedwetter/Lil Ugly Mane. To this day it hasn’t been confirmed if it’s a true story or not, but considering how personal the album it’s on is, I think he’s telling people about something that actually happened to him when he was a kid.
“Maybe he can leave if he promise not to tattle
The trunk wasn't Eden but he knew he was the apple
Streetlights flooded as the trunk popped open
Hoping for a relief or a reason he was chosen
Lurking was a silhouette with unfamiliar hands
Now he's a shaking mess, carried 'cause he couldn't stand” Oh God.
The details of the kidnapping are very vivid, down to the bluish television glow he saw in the dark cellar his kidnapper carried him down to. You can even hear his voice start to give out like he’s holding back bursting into tears when he says “all this time passed, I’m still scared that I’m there still.” It’s one of the most disturbing rap songs I’ve ever heard
I’m betting this has been covered somewhere but Foster the People Pumped Up Kicks. It’s an exceedingly happy and infectious tune with exceedingly dark lyrics. Gus Van Sant used in a pivotal scene in 2003s Elephant, a film with a dark message.
I’ve a really good bud who is a DJ/event planner including teenaged events like proms and such. He says it’s amazing how much this song is requested and the adult chaperone/sponsors are either oblivious or don’t care.
New subber here. Awesome content.👍
The Prison Sex video looks like it was made by Tim Burton
The guitarist made their videos. Very talented guy
heres some cool songs to look into:
enter shikari: 'anesthetist' is about the UK health system failing. enter shikari have some of the best, modern, UK political songs right now
green day: 'amy' is about the death of icon, Amy Whinehouse and her struggles with the media and other stuff
korn: 'faget' is about the homophobia that johnathan davies had to deal with when he was younger
keep up the solid work!
My recommendation for a future list would be Rammstein with „Mein Teil“ and „Wiener Blut“. Pretty disturbing and unfortunatly true. Like your content. Keep it up.
I really, really recommend Blur’s Beetlebum. When it came out, everyone thought it was a devastating love song, seeing as the lead singer was the 90’s British “it” boy. And in some ways it was, but not to another person. It was a call for help from the frontman, detailing his struggles with heroin and how it became a weapon for his mind. It’s a really good song, and the obscure lyrics really leave your mind to wonder.
So happy to see 4st 7lbs and suffer little children, genuinely two of my favourite songs of all time, and two of the most impactful bands
These songs I found have some creepy backstories to them, but I haven't seen them on these kinds of lists before: 1. Diane by Husker Du - this psychotic rant is about a waitress that was a friend of the band. She was hunted by a stalker and then brutally murdered by him in a time where staking a person was legal. 2. I Desire by Devo - it's a rather cute, catchy synth pop tune by the band. However, don't be fooled. The lyrics were actually written by John Hinkley Jr. shortly before he made his assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan.
I just discovered your channel last night and I have been binging them all day. I’m so pumped you released this! You also have amazing taste in music. Swans AND Manic Street Preachers?! The boy’s got good taste. Great videos! Keep it up!
This may be off topic but, I love your Radio Head and Deftones posters!😭 Deftones makes me cry and feel some way.
KISS- "Detroit Rock City" (1976) - a memorial to a fan who was killed on the way to one of their concerts...
I have no mouth and I must One
This comment. ❤️
I like the in depth stories behind these songs. Cool channel by the way. Love the Deftones poster in the background.
I believe I've found my new favorite RUclipsr...easy to listen to and look at and nice stories and impeccable delivery in my opinion...love all the vids...keep em comin plz!!
And criminally underrated
I love SOAD and RATM, they both share similar takes on politics. Gotta love all the hardcore conservatives that claim to love RATM or SOAD for that matter. I'm a lefty but not the soda pop type that gets their panties in a bunch over little things, I'm not for censorship or thought police, I stay off social media like Twitter and Facebook, it's brain rot.
They drummer from SOAD is conservative. These days anyone to the right of Stalin is considered far right. RATM have some great songs but they are the biggest hypocrites of all time.
I’m a simple man.
I see System Of A Down in the thumbnail, I click.
Also literally almost every SOAD song could be put in this list. And Knight Crime loving SOAD is extremely based.
That's why I did. But am rather disappointed in how much RUclips has censored words everyone should hear and understand. Sexual assault, rape and so on just so they don't get demonetized. And further more. Too short of an engagement when speaking about the Armenian genocide. Learning it and learning about it makes all the difference..
Relatable
Just found this channel and this is the very first video I’ve seen. So impressed that I just became the newest subscriber. This video is AbsoFUCKinglutely awesome! Love the way all the poignant facts are shared about each song, each band and real life inspiration. Your narration is spot on! The choice of lyrics for each song, choice of photos or video clips, along with album/band/song recommendations are all simply brilliant! Thank you!
As I’m now in my early 40’s and was blessed to grow up at a time when many of these bands were releasing these albums and songs I can easily think of many more songs with disturbing back stories. But definitely need to watch the first video before making recommendations so not to mention what was already covered.
❤️ from Shannon in Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks for the comment, Shannon! Glad you enjoyed. Once you watch the other video, feel free to shoot me another comment with some recommendations!
Another great song about a male musician with anorexia is Silverchair’s “Please Die Ana (Open Fire)”. Lead singer Daniel Johns also struggled with anorexia and the song plus its music video is really good.
yes, classic
Daniel sang a lot of songs that dealt with mental issues. Poor guy.
If you like Manic Street Preachers, you’re likely to also like early Placebo.
my two favourite bands of all time!
Weird stories AND music recs? I love this channel.
Just discovered your channel and you sir have impeccable taste in music!
5:40 you could also add in Bullet For My Valentine, though it’s technically not thrash metal it does have some thrash metal influence on the sound and if I had to pick a few songs from them to recommend they would probably be Scream Aim Fire, Tears Don’t Fall, and Waking The Demon.
Love how you gave artist recommendations!! And great list, these are definitely disturbing
an album-tilted song "Iowa" by Slipknot should be here as well. the whole story of recording that album is tragic, but this song definitely deserves to be on a list.
I think you should check out Acid Bath. They were a sludgecore metal. Dax Riggs lyrics are dark. I recommend Dead Girl, Cassie eats cockroaches, sample Clockwork Orange, Scream of the Butterfly just to name a few. They had 2 studio albums and an re-release of their demo. Dax went on to be in Goatwhore and Agents of Oblivion after.
I don't think Maynard suffered any SA as a child. If I remember correctly, and it has been a minute since I read it, in his autobiography "A Perfect Union of Contrary Things" he spoke to the song relating to abuse that a relative had suffered.
That's more correct...
clicked as soon as i saw serj on the thumbnail lol, great video man! lots of cool info here.
I feel like Tuv's list got it going, and yours is expanding it. Which is awesome
The one song I never see mentioned is little girls by oingo boingo, the music video is disturbing and so is the lyrics of the song.
I see Richey, I click, I will fan over the manic’s any day.
Gomenne - Kikuo and Coin Locker Baby - Maretu are some big ones in the vocaloid community when it comes to disturbing songs.
wow, nice deep cut from SOAD picking pluck, that and Soil are my favorite songs from them
I feel like "Christmas Kids" by the band ROAR could easily fit on one of these lists, given how it's literally about Ronnie Bennett's horrific abuse at the hands of Phil Spector.
dude you did amazing on this
Another SOAD fan woah
A lot of Emilie Autumn's songs have dark themes and backstories. One of them is Gothic Lolita, which is about her experiences with CSA. Many of her other songs deal with her experiences with bipolar disorder, suicide attempts, and institutionalization.
Another I can think of is Snow White Queen by Evanescence. It's about Amy Lee's experience with a stalker. The song is quite haunting
Emilie is one of my favorite artists. ❤❤❤❤
I don't know if you'll follow this series, but if you do you should look Xiu Xiu up. There's two of their more famous songs that deal with very dark subjects: Sad Pony Guerrilla Girl is about a girl who's seeing a married woman (that the singer Jamie Stewart used to be neighbors with) and being forced to keep the relationship a secret (going the lengths of dressing up as a man). There's a bit in the song where you can hear slapping sounds and they simbolize the physical violence she went through.
Also I Luv The Valley OH!, which is about sewerslide. JS's father took his life and the song basically details his experience dealing with his father's decaying mental health, and the way death hangs over his family.
I love Xiu Xiu, sorry for the long comment (and possibly broken English)
Basically everything on Girl With A Basket Of Fruit would work too lol
@@skeextree yeah, Mary turner Mary turner and Amargi Ve Moo are pretty dark too
“support our troops oh!” comes to mind
Nirvana "Polly", Pearl Jam TEN but to pick a few, Jeremy, Once and specially ALIVE.
Can't go on but I'm still alive.
Don't call me daughter was about child abuse
When you said "or even happy" I thought of King Gizzard for myself. Then there they were only a few seconds later. Love that band.
Loved the endless nameless clip 🤘🤘🤘
Your videos are very informative. I watch your stuff as well as Mike the Music Snob AKA BecometheKnight
Glad you enjoyed!
I sorta felt that the making a Part 2 or expansion to a video didn’t need to be up to the original RUclipsr if someone else has the information, and you, my good man, have proved it
i’d seriously love for you to give a video of album/artists reviews!!! i really wanna know what you think of melvins, MC5, subhumans uk and many more. all that nonsense but it would be a well good treat for us to know more of your music taste and favourites x
The beauty of falling leaves by yob, say no more
cool video, the earrings are awesome too!
Your speaking voice is fucking amazing. Glad you showed up in my feed.
Bjorks cover of “I Remember You”. The song itself isn’t disturbing but the story behind it is. Ricardo Lopez, the man who was stalking her, made several videotapes in which he planned to send a bomb to Bjorks home to kill her then kill himself so he’d be with her in the afterlife. Luckily the authorities got rid of the bomb, however Ricardo took his own life, and played this song as he did. Bjork eventually disowned the song from his official discography.
U got my 2 faves on your wall, Deftones and Radiohead. 👍.
The Horror by W.A.S.P. is a great disturbing song. Not overly disturbing in lyrics, although it is based on Apocalypse Now, the sound of the song is what really gives it its edge.
Oh shit.... KILL FUKK DIE....you know!!!!!! one of my all time favorite albums. Really scary to drive to!
One of my favorite albums!
@@vanityrage1984 try driving with it, you'll want to go 100 every second.
I LOVE THE SMITHS AND SOAD :3
Nice choice of backgrounds, nothing better than Radiohead ... who refuse to be categorized! Also, MSP "The Holy Bible" must be heard by everyone from start to finish ... it makes the disappearance of Ritchie more understandable in context ... I like your taste in music, how someone at your age can be so knowledgeable gives me hope for the future ...
Don’t forget the Deftones poster 😎
Great video, also thank you for the metal recommendations, I know and love literally all of them and it’s good to see a youtuber recommend them.
Nobody talks about P.L.U.C.K. enough. It’s one of my favorite songs of all time since freshman year of high school
Yes fr
Its an absolute banger !!! My second favourite of their self titled album. ( my fave is Mind )
And then you realize there's songs like Soil and Streamline, probably the darkest stuff System ever released
For real, is one of my favorites. Well tbh most of their songs are my favorites bc they're THAT good.
Nice deftones flag! I love their music too :)
One is my favorite song, when I first saw the video it really hit different then just listening to it and the additional voices from the movie Johnny’s got his gun, a masterpiece
The song "One" encouraged me to read the book "Johnny Got His Gun" which is so much better than the movie....
What happened to the soldier?
This was a rlly good video I like that u added sugar by soad
Weird coincidence. I listened to One yesterday and now I stumbled across this video during a random "songs with dark backstories" binge
Bruhhhhhh Deftones self titled album cover poster up on ya wall plus absolutely nailing the nature of Tool's absolute sewerage of a fan base = a subscribe from me within 1 minute 10 seconds of ever knowing who the heck you even are very well done mate lets goooooo
I find it kinda funny how Suffer Little Children by The Smiths was seen as controversial while SKYND's whole discography is praised upon. Time really changes throughout the years, huh
I mean, I was like 10 when I first got into SOAD and I was singing along to “BYOB” like there was no tomorrow lmao
Rush has pretty sad/disturbing backstories to some of their songs. Red Sector A, Ghost Rider, Manhattan Project, One Little Victory, Losing It, and more.
Deftones poster? Noice.
I have one (actually 2)
There are two slipknot songs I think about when I see these lists, Diluted and Metabolic
Diluted is about Corey Taylor’s experience being homeless, and it’s not in the song but he broke down after recording it.
Also Metabolic is even worse, It’s about when Corey was molested as a child at 10 years old.
515 as an honorable mention, It’s audio of the DJ (Sid Wilson) having a mental breakdown because he lost his grandpa.
Alkaline Trio came out with Good Mourning in 2003 and I always associate that album with one that reminds me a lot of the Smiths.
Just from the movements on stage I knew the first clip was Death Grips lol. One of a kind band.
Massive respect for the Self Titled poster behind you. Great video.
thought this because of your previous video, but a nu metal band kinda lost to time now called otep made a song called "jonestown tea" and its prolly one of the most unsettling songs I've ever heard, its very similar to daddy in how it paints a very vivid picture, also nobody knows who shes singing about, but the speculation is that its about her own experiences of abuse, but nobody knows for sure because theres literally no information of her childhood or most of her past. This snippet tells you all you need to know:
"No daddy don't!
Leave me alone!
No I don't want to be free!
So take your d*k out of me!
Please take your d*k out of me!"
Other one is No Has Never Had Three Letters by The Kodan Armada a very obscure hardcore punk band, this is the leadsinger describing how powerless he felt while his sister was abused by their dad
"It never ends, this brutal cycle. Please take her tears away, please make her whole again"
Love Otep Shamaya!
Speaking of nu-metal songs about THAT, slipknot’s “metabolic”
It’s not as descriptive as DADDY TAKE YOUR D*CK OUT OF ME, but still tragic. He wasn’t assaulted by a family member, but when he was 10 A neighbor’s kid took away his innocence. This is shown as in the lines “I’m in so much pain, I have every F*cking right to hate you, I can’t take it!” Repetitions of “I’m always ready to die but you’re killing me”, and even straight up “I see you f*cking me”
I havent really listened to much soad but my absolute favorite song is chop suey! genuinely love that song
Johnny Got His Gun is the single most oppressive and terrifying thing I have ever read, and I'm a lifelong horror fanatic.
I'm so glad to see "One" on the list. It's underated how dark this song is.
