I agree man! The only song I don't like is the theme song. It's kinda corny. But the production and raw guitars just sound so organic and cool. Love the tunes. You can feel the energy and passion in the band too.
I agree. With all the theatrics and flambouyant moves they make, you know as a guitar player it can be very distracting. But yet they sound incredible live. Their moves are all practiced and scripted. Thats what put them on a different level. They've been on my bucket list since 1974 to see. Unfortunately Paul got the flu just before they were supposed to play in Toronto last October 2023. Hope they continue. They're not finished yet. Even RUSH is going on tour again with a new drummer.
Great detail you are pointing out about the nuances of Paul's playing. Good that you were pointing out the details of the creativity he put into the structure of those songs.
Man that's very cool! I never did.. was too young. I had a couple records however I fell off the KISS wagon when VH got huge. And other metal bands like Def Leppard, Motley, Scorpions etc... but I managed to see the original lineup 3 times during the first few reunion tours 1996-2002. It was a cool experience.

Ace don’t get enough credit for bridging the gap from ballad and disco songs to rock n roll n that’s why Ace is my favorite he wasn’t afraid to go n do his own thing when they were stifling his creativity, especially when they were “taking a break” from making an album

Never seen Paul play Black Diamond like that, or on a 12 string Marty. I have seen him play it many guitars though. In " 75 " I seen him play it on a Gibson L6, I have one of them, that I need to restore, and have yet to do. Some day I will, but not yet.
I think when they produced this song they used a capo and doubled it. On a 12 string. Capo 7th fret d minor shape/12 string doubled. I am just going by how it sounds and the tone of the strings. What strings sound like on the fretboard. I imagine Paul plays it different live since it's live and not the dramatic 12 string studio version. (Just assumptions here!). 😁
My favorite Kiss song & dirtiest riff by them is Unholy. Kudos to Kiss for producing a fantastic song after they were left for dead at the end of the 80s.

I think it is doubled with a 12 string in open. But it really sounds like they capo's the 7th fret in the studio as well and played it like the dm shape up there. To me the fret and string sound in the recording sounds like it was up in that area??
