Eye of Ra will blow your mind. Floor singing more with her sister and then a huge ensemble at the end. Just do it already.😁
Yes, please, I agree. It's an orgasmic experience to see that many great singers without the egotism of most modern day singers
Absolute Magic in that performance! :-)
I just love it when they sing together. Irene has such a powerful voice, it's really a pitty there isn't much activity from her as a vocalist.
@@olgahein4384 I adore Irene :D
And Arjen does his cameo!
It's like Tank was invited to a party... and he doesnt know much people... maybe a couple by name... and then, he finds a friend and light up... is that Hansi ?
ahaaha... we all feel the same about Ayreon... gotta have internet to google every single singer and discover new worlds
One of the best comments about Hansi 🤣🤩
Ayreon Age of Shadows - live and wild. 🤘🏻🤪
The little duet between Hansi and Floor is to die for.
He has to do it! No way around it! Not with those singers
@@ayrie09 It is a heavily truncated version of the song, but it's still great.
Marko Hietala in a kilt, nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more say no more!
Stop spoiling everything ^^
In this song were (I think):
Lead singers:
Michael Mills (Toehieder)
Tommy Karrevik (Kamelot)
Hansi Kursch (Blind Gaurdian)
Maggy Luyten (Nightmare)
Floor Jansen (Nightwish, Revamp, After Forever)
Backing vocals:
Irene Jansen (Floor's sister)
Lisette van den Berg (Scarlet Stories)
Marcela Bovio (MaYaN, Stream of Passion)
Instrumentalists:
Ed Warby, drums
Johan van Stratum (Stream of Passion), bass
Joost van den Broek (After Forever (Floor's first band)), keys
Marcel Coenen, lead guitar
Ferry Duissens, guitar
Marcel Coenen is a beast of a guitarist. I have his albums with Lemur Voice, and Sun Caged.
Great. Thank You so much Pascal
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 Also his guitar solo in the Ayreon album The Source is probably one of my favourite solos ever
@@franciscoborjaescobarsuare5802 Yes! I love that one too. For everyone else it's in "The Dream Dissolves".
Lisette shines so much in this song, she and Hansi kills...
And don't forget that the backing vocalists are all lead singers also.
Everone's talking about Floor and of course I love my daily floorgasm, but I think another great female voice, who has done a whole album with Arjen and is on every show must be mentioned and this is Anneke van Giersbergen. When you see how much fun she has on stage and the voice of an angel. I would propose "Strange machines" live Pinkpop festival, or any other song of The Gathering or I-AH with Devin Townsend.
I don't think I've even heard Anneke sing yet!
TankTheTech I second Strange Machines!
Anneke has been an idol for young Floor by the way.
Oh yes and for sure "Valley of the queens" or "Comatose" in duet with Jorn Lande.
Garden of Emotions
Arjen played on Castle Hall, Amazing Flight, and The Eye of Ra from this show.
Damian Wilson did an amazing job on And The Druids Turn To Stone...
Tommy Karevik was outstanding on Into The Black Hole...
Intergalactic Space Crusaders is a great rocking number too.
It was a truly amazing show.
You won't regret that purchase. :-)
Ayreon Universe is indeed an amazing concert. Of all your suggestions, which I agree with totally by the way, I think Intergalactic Space Crusaders is the most up Tank's alley.
Yeah. Druids Turn to Stone is a simple song, but Damien crushed it!
"Floor came out of f'n nowhere" Yep, that was my reaction the first time I watched that video!
Wow
Valhalla - Deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me!!!! *sing*
This song is on the same album as The Day That the World Breaks Down. It's a great album
yes, "the source" is the best ayreon album i would say, i love the sound and lyrics of it. tayscott has a full lyric video on the album which makes it very easy to follow the story of the album and also know who sings what
@@Deilwynna i think its one of the best. nr1 for me is the human Equation.
@@MajorTom696 Top 3 for me with The Human Equation and 01011001
(I had to google that)
@@MajorTom696 The Human Equation for me too. The Theory Of Everything is underrated
No worries about not knowing all the players and singers but that's how I started too, Ayreon is one giant hub of artists to discover, that's how I found out about Floor, Irene, and Magali Luyten (Raspy singer) back in 2004-2007
I've discovered Oceans of Slumber because of Arjen so... thank you as always
I found out about Ayreon because of Floor. lol. Ayreon is so out of this world. Wow.
This song has one of my favorite things in it, the call and answer between Tommy and Hansi. I'd love to see more of that in any song.
HEY TANK, THAT'S FLOOR AND ARJEN HAS STAGEFRIGHT AND IRENE IS FLOOR'S SISTER AND ASKNDJFSFSKFN *spamspamspamspam*
In seriousness, great reaction, as always.
😂😂😂
And it's pronounced Eerayneh 😂
Yup that pretty much sums up all the reactions you'll find under these Ayreon reaction videos ;-)
And occasionally you get Arjen himself replying to your videos. How much time does this man have in his day?? 😆
Yeah, right. Go ahead, make fun of people who try their best to provide some background information to the reactor. Most people only know how to complain when a reactor watches the wrong video...
The new Ayeron song "Daniels decent into transitus"..... Tommy Karevik and Simone Simons...,. magic...
And I´ll keep nagging: Avatar :)
Avatar! Yes!
Random viewer: Tank did you know.......
Tank: Watch the damn video!!
Still the best live concert I've been too, so glad my friends dragged me along for this. And the crowd was just soooo into it, there were people flying in from all across the world to be there!
I agree, this performance was amazing, maybe even better than the studio versions. So much energy from all the performers. I think it was even better than ITEC Live, mostly because I did not really like Marcel Singor's improvisations.
Man, I would have killed to have been there knowing what I know now.
@@TankTheTech If you are going to buy it, you should consider the bluray (too). Arjen went great lengths to make sure to get the best quality.
I envy everybody who was at this show. It must have been an amazing experience.
There are so many great songs on the Ayreon Universe DVD. One of my favourites is "Magnetism" with Tommy, Anneke and also Marco from Nightwish.
The shows are so rare that they sell out in minutes and people from all over the world will travel to see it.
Sorry, can't resist. Yes the shows where amazing both this one and Electric castle. Though to me the absolute coolest thing is how all the artist are just having a lot of fun on stage with eachother. It's so cool to watch and be a tiny part of while there.
Apart from the concerts at 013 I know that at least 1 time they also performed at Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium. Half a year after the Universe concerts. And while fact-checking myself I just found out that they will be again at GMM next year (If we can have festivals again by then)
"Im gonna order this... right now"
ME TOO!
Same.
Evil back groud vocals too. This is a musical prog, metal and funny performance. even the subject is dark. Great show.
If you want to see Arjen himself on stage, check out "Ayreon - Amazing Flight (Electric Castle Live And Other Tales)" from the most recent live show. He performs his role of Hippie from the Electric Castle album in its entirety.
Star One live DVD he's on stage during the entire show
Second that. Another great one featuring the master himself is ‘Castle Hall’ from the same concert. And to answer the question: Arjen likes to create the music, but he does not want to to perform on stage. Although he seems to enjoy it, he has great fear before going on stage. Unfortunately on the album Into the Electric Castle he plays the role of the hippie, so in the other concert (Electric Castle Live And Other Tales) he has to do a few songs!
Or anything by Bodine or Vengeance (but prepare for grainy stuff from the 80s :D)
More fun facts:
- Joost and Marcel Coenen were both in prog metal band Sun Caged before Joost joined After Forever.
- Johan van Stratum and Marcela Bovio were both in Stream Of Passion, a symphonic metal band originally formed around Marcela and Arjen to continue their successful collaboration after Ayreon’s The Human Equation.
- Marcel, Joost, Ed, Floor & Irene were also part of the Star One - Live On Earth tour in 2002. Arjen performed the entire show. Star One is a sci-fi themed project of Arjen, with songs based on films like Star Gate, Star Wars, Dune etc. This show was also recorded and released. It also was my first taste of Arjen’s music, though I unfortunately didn’t get to see them live back then. I still listen to these recordings regularly (and I prefer the live versions).
So I will say. This was an amazing reaction video. But I'll be back with a more detailed comment when my jaw gets picked up off the Floor. Because holy hell, Ayreon is amazing.
Dude, it is soooooo good. Haha
Hahaha, you can't even write floor without capitalizing the F any more S1lient. I see a slight (but understandable) fixation forming 😂
@@Boerke oh that was 100% intentional. The joke was there haha
Tommy is also in a band called Seventh Wonder. If you want a long song: (30mins) The Great Escape. And for a tear jerking album: Mercy Falls (concept album).
Dude, yes. Mercy Falls is amazing. "One Last Goodbye" always gets me...
@@BryonAutry Me too. Do you think @Tankthetech would do the full album? Because once you start the intro you can't stop. At least that's how I look at it.
@@senditkevin I mean, obviously no one should put words in his mouth, but so far full album reactions haven't been a thing on his channel so I am not assuming that is something he may do, but I could be wrong.
Of course since the album tells a continuous story it would be the ideal listening method, but "The Source" does the same thing and he has heard 2 songs separate from the album so far, and the songs can definitely stand on their own as well.
I think the most likely scenario is maybe listening to a few of the most popular songs sometime in the future (maybe) and then eventually (maybe) listening to the full album on his own if he likes the songs enough.
It seems rough, being a reactor and having to hold yourself back from listening to things so that you can hold them for future videos, I certainly don't have the strength to do that, myself.
@@BryonAutry Yeah I agree. And maybe after listening to the whole album give a review on it.
@@senditkevin Well, another reason it's not likely he may do it is gear is his thing, so he'd most likely prefer to watch official live videos. Thankfully Seventh Wonder have a live DVD "Welcome To Atlanta (Live 2014)" where they play Mercy Falls in it's entirety. Idk, I would certainly suggest asking him in the suggestion section on Discord, and see what he thinks.
Just want to mention: I just love how you have Valhalla running as background music. And also, Hansi should be easily recognizable from afar. He has this very specific body posture that makes me wonder if he never has neck pains.
Thank you for this reaction too, Arjen is so extremely shy, when he held a speach at this show, you could literally see him sweat buckets. Didn't stop him from even singing live there. My personal request for another song of Ayreon would be: "The Eye Of Ra" from this same show. It's epic in a special way. It's really such a pitty that Simone (from Epica) couldn't make it, that would have really made it like a family gathering backstage. She too, has been with Ayreon for a long time, including the freshly released new Ayreon album, as the Angel of Death.
Before I forget, the 3 angels are very accomplished singers. All of them are worth investing time into listening to on their own. They might not take the front in this collaboration but that is more of an attribute to their professionalism and devotion to the art.
From this concert, songs that are often reacted to are (spoilers ahead)
Merlin's Will, Valley of the Queens, Star of Sirrah, Eye of Ra (Floor factor)
Intergalactic Space Crusaders (fun factor)
One song I like that is rarely reacted to is Loser (Michael Mills and background choir factor!)
"This is a ridiculous production 😲"
hum hum... *cue Into The Electric Castle* 😁
Not to mention they hauled that video wall to the marquee at Graspop in 2018 for a festival gig 😂 but yes, I'd love to see the reaction to Castle Hall or Amazing Flight
Such a wild song with so much talent in it. The highlight for me was ❤️ Floor ❤️ right at the end. I literally jumped up out of my chair :D
That was a fun Song and really interesting stage show. I really enjoyed your facts and breakdowns of what was going on with the stage show because it just made it more interesting. Great reaction, have a good one Tank!
Merlin's Will ... won't regret it.
Live performance from the same Ayreon Universe show ;)
ruclips.net/video/HZ61Y1BqY-8/видео.html
The entire Final Experiment album!
It was a true privilege to see that concert live! Luckily Arjen is a Dutch citizen and so am I, so I was very fortunate to buy tickets real quick. You won’t regret to buy this DVD at all, enjoy the world of Ayreon Universe live‼️
Holy Sh*t. Tank, I just listened to Epica (ft. Floor Jansen) doing SANCTA TERRA live. O M G. I feel like Kylie Minogue 'cause I can't get it out of my head. This is incredible.
I'd get married to this dvd if possible, seriously, it's the best! And of course I'd sell my soul for an Ayreon's concert. :(
Thanks for this one! Please keep them coming and help us with Chase, he needs this!
Irene and Floor look so freaking similar...I actually thought it was Floor at first and wondered why she'd be singing backup. Apparently, she has some pipes, too. Runs in the family (as does the height)!
Awesome reaction Tank. I did the same thing and immediately bought the Blu-ray after seeing this song myself. Age of Shadows is a must reaction, it has a very fun cast of singers and is of course a great song as well.
Nice react man, thanks! My thought would be - get the setlist, decide if you'll do any other react vids from it, and then just spend quality time watching the rest of this fabulous show. From the prologue to the bows I've been happily shocked how well Arjen's genius translated to live performance. Truly enjoyable art. So do yourself the favor and enjoy it!
More Fun Facts just to show how connected this segment of the European metal scene is:
1) Floor Jansen and Joost van den Broek were together in After Forever (Floor's first band); Joost contributed to Floor's second band ReVamp; AND is currently working with her on SUPER-SECRET solo material for Floor :D ruclips.net/video/T68mp-Fn9Rk/видео.html
2) Tommy Karevik was just getting settled in with Kamelot as they were supporting Nightwish on the North American leg of the Imaginarium Tour when the Denver Debacle happened: www.blabbermouth.net/news/nightwish-in-denver-a-night-without-anette-olzon/
One week later Floor was brought in to finish the rest of the Imaginarium Tour with Nightwish.
3) Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion, MaYaN) is singing "backup" with Floor's sister Irene and has worked with Kamelot and Floor has sung in concert with MaYan.
4) Floor is tall (6'0" or 6'1" depending on who you read) but Arjen is taller (6'8"); he has been bringing Floor into Ayreon/Star One projects since 2000.
5) Non-Ayreon connected factoid: After Forever toured (as support) with Nightwish back in 2002; Tuomas and Marko hint at that when in interviews they note that after Tarja's dismissal they had toyed with bringing Floor on then, but didn't want to break up After Forever to do it.
Everybody dies... but at least we'll go with a smile after this performance.
I like seeing reactions to bands I love but reactions to a new band and falling in love with them is even better
I love Ayreon live! Age of shadows is another great song! Or Valley of the queens. But they are all great, so just watch the whole thing 😁
I first started listening to Ayreon in the late 1990's. Love watching people watching Ayreon getting into Ayreon now.
Ayreon is one of those super-groups that I wish everyone could experience in person - I was lucky to be able to go to the third show they played in 2017 (the first two shows sold out in minutes, so they added a third one on Sunday that wasn't filmed. It was great when Arjen came out in the end to thank everyone and could be as uncensored as he wanted :P ).
Also if you liked the Ayreon Angels, I recommend checking out Marcela Bovio's current project "Dark Horse White Horse" .
That whole album is so good. "Sea of Machines" and "Run! Apocalypse Run!" are such bangers.
When you got the inclination, I recommend Æther Realm - Slave to the Riff or The Sun, The Moon, The Star
The background singers are Marcela Bovio, Lisette van de Berg and Floor's sister Irene. Arjen appears near the end of the concert for 3 songs and a 12 minute speech which is awesome
Watching or listening to Ayreon can be seriously damaging to the bank account.
My youngest son heard one song, and now has itemised lists of vinyl, CD and blu-ray of the entire catalogue, to request for Christmas, from each family member. I'm pretty sure he has some merch on the list too.
And I think Nuclear Blast are going to do well out of him as well.
I daren't ask what the eldest son has already, or how much he's spent that he can't afford to.
I introduced him to Nightwish. I daren't play him any Ayreon, but I suspect I won't be able to stop him once son 3 has his purchases arriving, and I may be too late anyway thanks to Spotify.
I guess I did something right. I'm not sure my wife agrees.
With ayreon have partecipated floor Jansen and Marko Hietala too
There is besides this Ayreon Universe another live show, also recorded on blue -ray/ dvd, it's the live performance of Ayreon's iconic album Into the Electric Castle in 2019. That show is called Into the Electric Castle and other Tales..Again a formidable cast at this show too. Check it out! 🤟
I must have watched the blu ray of this 10x in a row after first putting it in and a zillion since, amazing start to finish.
The amount of chills and goosebumps i have and still have listening to this band and their performers
Thank you for more Ayreon! I've been listening to his music for years and the guests have been a gateway to other bands. This entire live show is amazing, some personal favorites are Dawn of a Million Souls, Age of Shadows, Eye of Ra (Star One), Looser, and Computer Eyes. (Personally I like the album version of Looser better, and Computer eyes is longer on the album.) Looser would be a good live/album comparison song, BIG difference in the ending singing style.
If you want to see a BIG video wall check out Within Temptation Live Black Symphony, look for the 1080p version. Recommendations: The Howling, or Stand My Ground. Personally I like their older albums Enter and Mother Earth better than the new stuff. (Arjen did a solo on the Mother Earth album).
And to add my other recommendation, Riverside - Wasteland Live. Great progressive metal with lots of gear shots.
Definitely a great recommendation since they were backed by a full symphonic orchestra and choir. I myself would recommend "The promise" that makes full use of the orchestra and lets not forget the angelic voice of Sharon den Adel. One of the members of the holy trinity of Dutch metal goddesses. ruclips.net/video/39k1IQoeLAU/видео.html
I agree with Within Temptation's first few being their best. I never knew of the Arjen solo!
Check out Age Of Shadows (featuring, well I don't wanna spoil it) from the same concert.
I love this video so much, I'm glad Tank's done it. Arjen's work, and that of his collaborators, is unreal.
The Eye of Ra is pretty fun to watch, as the last song of the show, everyone comes to the stage, and the scale of the project becomes really obvious.
And I'm completely offended that you didn't identify each of the keyboards!
Great closing song. Damn, all the harmonies at the end.
This is the melt pot of almost every of my favorite singers of the last Ayreon video. Just everyone in those projects has so much skill and.. Yeah no words to describe them.
Need to back in time to one of the earlier Arjen projects like Star One. Russell Allen and Damian Wilson are featured prominently on there. Irene and Floor had backing roles as well. Arjen actual played that show as well.
Here’s a good starting point....m.ruclips.net/video/H3q7lwl5nSQ/видео.html
Mike Mills was dressed as the robot TH-1, hence al the wires and lights coming out of his costume. You met his character in the first Ayreon video you reacted to. Great stuff!
The lead guitarist (long hair) Marcel Coenen plays in metal band Godscum, the other guitarist Ferry Duijssens plays in symphonic band VuuR (with Anneke van Giersbergen) , back vocalist and sister of Floor Jansen, Irene Jansen plays in Star One (another band/project of Lucassen).
Great Reaction Tank. If I can request a Toehider song, look at the play through version of The Giants who walked with men. And from Ayreon please do Intergalactic Space Crusaders!
Hey Tank, big thanks from the Netherlands for highlighting Ayreon here. My suggestion for your next Ayreon reaction would be the song The Eye of Ra which is also featured on the Universe DVD. You'll get to see each and every musician who appeared during that performance.
This was the second live performance :)
The first one was The Theater Equation, of the album The Human Equation. performed in 2015.
This was incredible to see live! Fun fact: The moving lights on the sides were/are called Wilma and Betty :')
Also, Marko was also present during this show 💜
Oh man, I'm soooooo glad you're doing Toehider next week! Mike really deserves way more attention, he's a huge talent and Toehider songs are nothing less than amazing! They're also pretty different from each other, make sure to check out more than just one song: you're in for such a treat! Big hugs from Italy, keep rockin'!
Magalia Luyten was incredible in Beautiful Sin, Metalwaves is an awesome song to hear the power in her voice. Closer to My Heart is a good song too that's softer, and Lost is just great. She's also heavily displayed on the song Ride the Comet from this show.
For Ayreon, Oooo boy, you can do Age of Shadows or River of Time, those are good tracks to listen to that was from this show and I think you'll enjoy one of the guest singers from it ;) .
Isis and Osiris is a fun one from Electric Castle Live, I also recommend Amazing Flight, Castle Hall, and The Two Gates from that show as well.
You have got to listen to The Druids Turn To Stone as sung by Damian Wilson.
I’m watching the live Ayreon Universe from the beginning right now. It would be cool to react to them all one by one in order. It’s basically sci-fi musical theater with each performance a small part of the story performed by an all star cast. It’s pretty sick. I’m loving it. Marko is in it too.
ruclips.net/p/PLJGn3wi7b7b606GfoKAdOgm6rtX9OliRc
Here’s the whole show track by track. Lyrics are in the subtitles.
Just finished the whole show. All 28 tracks of it. One of the most entertaining shows I’ve ever seen. Just awesome.
The three background singers are all solo singers as well and deserve more credit than they often get.
Lisette van den Berg is singer with Scarlett Stories and I recently discovered this band and the one album they made. I think it is very good. Her voice is pretty powerfull, and she also has a master degree in biology.
Marcela Bovio has a long history with Arjen, they both founded Stream of Passion. She has an amazing vocal range and plays violin as well. She also writes her own music.
Irene Jansen is also a great singer, but seems to be in the shadow of Floor in the Ayreon performances, but she has a very powerful voice as well.
I am glad you mentioned them in the outro though.
Garden of Emotions - live, he sings live on that one, and also it's an amazing song
There was a totally different show before Ayreon Universe (which was actually 3 shows, only 2 of which were recorded) called The Theater Equation, which was a live theatre adaptation of the album The Human Equation with most of the album singers reprising their roles in full costume character with some decent acting and loads of props and coordination. It was also 3 shows.
Arjen himself doesn’t count those as “official” Ayreon concerts since they were theatre adaptations. Hence the “official” wording in the pop-up.
@@TankTheTech I don't understand. How is it not official when he was present and part of the production, in all the special features behind the scenes, appeared onstage at the end of the show, sold it on his website, and signed all the pre-ordered copies?
I don’t know. Ask him. He’s said it in multiple interviews and it’s on his web-site. Probably because it was the first actual concert, and not a theater production?
Ayreon - Star Of Sirrah Live that has surprise as well and it kicks. :) Bonus Arjen is on par with Steve Wilson for 5.1 mixing so you will love the blu ray.
Actually you can do every song from this show, since they are all great! It's a best of, remember ;) And Arjen gives a speech during the show, which is on youtube, where he explains some stuff about the screen and the production. Fun info. He did sing some songs during this show, like Amazing flight in space. Next stop: Age of Shadows or Eyes of Ra? So after Nightwish wednesday, now you know it's time to do a Ayreon Friday :P Because after this show, there are more live shows: The Theatre Equation and Into the Electric Castle and other stories.
You need to check out Avatar, they are a very original band with every single song of them sounding completely different. Also their live shows are among the best ever, it's a very captivating band. A good song to start with would be "Bloody Angel, live at Polandrock 2019"
I second this! Love, love, love Avatar.
If there´s a possibility of a non live video, I love the video for the eagle has landed, and of course the video for bloody angel too :D
yeah man, dooo it!!!! Avatar - The eagle has landed, In Napalm, Tower (!!)
.... all the songs are soooo fckn crazy and insane, .... just sayin: DO IT!! ;) \m/
Whe i was 14 a friend of mine introduced me to Ayreon. He also was and still is a musician. I love the album "into the electric castle"
It's like when i was a kid and i listned to childre stories on cd's, but with an adult theme and great music.
"The castle hall" from this album is one of my favorite songs ever
Hey, Tank, so have you bought the Ayreon Universe DVD? I recently got into Ayreon VERY MUCH, bought this thing, and we watched it with my colleagues. WHAT A SHOW, MAN!!! The amount of talent on that stage!!! And watching the behind the scenes after - they felt like a family?? You could feel it from their performance! It added something more to their effort! And Arjen - not only he is a great musician and composer, but he is such also a nice guy! No wonder everybody wants to work with him! For me, this is a discovery of a decade. Loving this so much!
One of our community members, Jacq, was kind enough to send it to me and I've watched it so many times. Let my dad borrow it so he can see it too, and I don't know if I'll ever get it back. Haha
@@TankTheTech Pity you didn´t record yourself listening - I would love to see you when all the people came up on the stage for the last chorus of the last song. I had goosebumbs even in places I didn´t expect to have. :) I don´t think I have seen a more grandiose ending of a show ever with all those stars singing their hearts out.
Recently discovered a band called Ostura. Michael Mills sings in some of the songs, and he sounds amazing. You should check it out! They're like a mix between Ayreon & Symphony X. My favorite songs are Deathless and Erosion. Also Duality, but that's a 12 minute song, might be too much.
I came back to watch this again. I have never checked out Toehider but finally got around to it and listened to a few of their songs so am throwing out a suggestion for the recent upload of How do Ghosts Work live
I love Maggy! She have done very good songs with her now ex-band Nightmare
Getting PUMPED for Toehider! I don't know how I stumbled across Mike 10 years ago considering we're on opposite sides of the world, but SO MANY Toehider songs are linked to such nostalgia for me.
Ayreon-Magnetism, with Marco!
Age of Shadows - from the same show. I think you will really like it! Or...River of Time.
Mike Mills high note at the start destroys me every goddamn time...just...such a high mixed belt, i CAN'T
Coming next, Age of Shadows Live at Tilburg 2017. MUST!
Thanks for another great Ayreon reaction! For more epic Michael Mills performances please check out Ayreon - Day sixteen: Loser, live version from the same show
For this year they wanted to play at Loreley/Rhine. In April, I think. I tried to get Tickets, but than there was Corona.
Joost van den Broek was also in After Forever with Floor. She recently posted a video where they were writing new music together. .
Any performance with this Universe show is fire, but I have a soft spot for Intergalactic Space Crusaders with the raspy voice of Maggy Luyten.
Here is a list of the singers in order of appearance:
Arjen Lucassen - The composer. Dutch singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist musician and record producer best known for his long-running progressive metal/rock opera project Ayreon.
Mike Mills - Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and main songwriter for Toehider.
Tommy Karevik - Lead singer of Kamelot.
Hansi Kürsch - Lead singer of Blind Guardian.
Maggy Luyten - One of Belgium's leading female rock singers.
Floor Jansen - Lead singer of After Forever, ReVamp & now Nightwish.
The backups singer from left to right:
Irene Jansen - Younger sister of Floor, usually sings backup vocals for Ayreon shows.
Lisette Van den Berg - Dutch vocalist mostly known for her work with Scarlet Stories.
Marcella Bovio - Mexican singer, violinist, songwriter, and vocal teacher, who is currently a member of the Dutch symphonic death metal band MaYaN.
Thanks! More Ayreon please. Ayreon Day twelve Trauma Studioversion. One of the best Ayreon tracks. Important that it's the albumversion since Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth wasn't in the liveversion of the song.
Great reaction, Arjan is on the last 3 songs of this show. On the show last year, The 20th anniversary of Into The Electric Castle he is more prominent because he plays the role of the hippy there. Of you react to An Amazing Flight In Space you Will see him sing and play guitar!
Please, more Ayreon! Like Castle Hall from Into the electric castle live and other tales!
I know there isnt much live material from Ayreon, but there are so many awesome songs! To me it's like every Ayreon song is the epic theme song of an over the top awesome sci-fi movie.
Dawn of a million souls is my personal favorite! Haha.
There's been some fun features in Ayreon songs including bruce dickinson and Marko Hietela as well
Arjen joins the other players and singers in a couple of songs at the end of this concert. He plays a more prominent role as an actual character in their latest DVD "Electric Castle Live and Other Tales" which as the title suggests, they play the entire "Into the Electric Castle" album (which is one of Ayreon's finest) and a couple of songs from other Arjen's projects...If you want to see Arjen live, check out "Garden of Emotions" or "Amazing Flight" from the Electric Castle DVD
Look at Michael Mills face just before (9.32) Floor appears. I think he could be a pretty good actor also.
My first reaction was “yes, buying this stuff”. Uplifting, amazing.
this is so much...that was why Arjen thought it couldn't be done. If you get the DVD there is great behind the scenes for this concert where they discuss everything about the show and the performers. The screen and robotic lights were additions when they realised the ticket sales were going gangbusters and they could afford a bit more bling! :D Arjen has stagefright but does perform on a couple of songs. He plays a more significant part in the live Electric Castle show where he is able to be the hippy he is!
I was waiting for the Floor reveal. You did not disappoint, sir
You should check out Tommy Karevik's original band, Seventh Wonder (He's actually still with them). That band is amazing!
I worked at a frozen rise in the oven pizza crust place. We used liquid C02.
Just to blow Tank's mind, we went through 2+ semi truck loads every 24 hours at peak performance.
So something like 60 tonnes.
Holy SHIT that’s a ton.
I just discovered ayreon to. The dvd off ayreon universe arrived yesterday and i saw both dvd's already!!! The concert off 2,5 hours is just great!!! Also the extra's, especcially the behind the scenes explain a lot. I also will start the journey off ayreon.😁
Floor was also in the project Star One, Victims of the modern age, with Damian Wilson, Russell Allen and a swede singer, Dan Swanö.
Wow, great reaction to this production. I've seen this video (Ayreon's, not yours 😉) about 20 times now, and it's amazing. I'll be buying this DVD as well, for sure.
As far as singers go, you did very good. Missing only one, with such a lineup, kudos. I was afraid you wouldn't mention the background singers, but you shouted them out in the outro which was cool. Mike's clothing was probably this elaborate, because he plays TH1, the AI that destroyed the planet as told in The Day the World Breaks Down.
Also a decent try on the LUL pronounciation, but not quite there yet. Maybe us Dutchies can teach you some proper Dutch swearing in discord 😁.
I am looking forward to your Toehider reaction (also new to me) and would suggest you react to Phantom Divine by Kamelot from the I am the Empire show, live at the 013.
Thanks buddy. I looked up how to properly say “lul” afterwards to we can practice on Discord. Hahaha
Ayreon: Universe an OUTSTANDING dvd, kind of a Arjen Lucassen greatest hits. He also recently put out a similar dvd performance of his early album "The Electric Castle" with John de Lancie (Q from STTNG) as the live narrator. Also fabulous, with just as awesome a cast.
@@TankTheTech Lisette, Tommy, Mike, Marcela and Joost appear on TRANSITUS.
Slight correction: The computer overtaking Alpha is called "The Frame". Also it doesn't want to destroy the planet, it just calculated that to save the planet it must eradicate humankind. Kinda like Thanos, only with more consequence. TH-1 is the roboter staying at the side of the Alphans and leaving the planet with them.
@@Eluarelon Oh, okay. Didn't know that yet... thanks for that bit (😉) of info.
Yes...Ayreon again.
I have both live concerts on blu-ray and they are epic.
Ayreon Universe live
The electric castle live and other tales
Just choose songs and react to them.
Everything you ever want to know about bands, musicians, albums, songs, instruments etc, you can find on Wikipedia.
Joost is pronounced correctly. Lul is Dutch slang for dick.
Irene Jansen, Floor’s sister is in the background vocals on the left.
Arjen has stage fright but comes later in the concert.
Lisette van de Berg has her own band Scarlet Stories. I can recommend that band.
Marcella Bovio was the singer of Stream of Passion which I also recommend.
Joost van den Broek and Irene Jansen performed in an earlier band called Star One, with composer Arjen Anthonie Lucassen.
Maybe these songs for future reactions.
Cosmic Fusion, or the song Ashes with Simone Simons (Epica)
Twisted Coil, or the song The druids turned to stone with Damien Wilson.
Merlin’s will with Floor.
Etc
Have been there live at the first evening, in the 4th or 5th row. It was mindblowing and mesmerizing. Thank you for this great reaction!
