I so love how you break the small details down to allow us "average joes" to totally understand all the tech details. Thank y'all for the continued awesome content
Pretty sure it’s already been mentioned. But would love to see a review of these vs axiom and other graphite options. I like how there’s a 120gram version vs axiom 125 (which is 130).
What was the build of the 5 iron (length/swing weight)? What is the head weight? And, did you have to add tip weight to get it to the swing weight? Thanks! Another great video!
@clubchampionmedia how high is too high? I've never been fit for a set of clubs but looking at getting back into golf after 6 years I've been trying a lot of clubs. I hit all 7 irons about 40m high and with a descent angle of 47-50⁰ wih about 5700rpm. Im swinging my 7iron between 93 & 97mph. Previously played off +3 and loving the ZX5' and Cobra Forged Tec.
Hey Clint. Great question and welcome back! While that does sound a smidge high for height and descent angle, it isn't too far off. Maybe just a few meters too high. If you're looking to pull down that height, a lower launching/lower spinning golf ball may be something to think about for your game without switching head or shaft that you're enjoying. Or maybe making the lofts of your clubs just a degree or two stronger. We're big fans of both the ZX5 and Cobra Forged Tec here! You're not going to make a wrong decision between those two!
Fras makin' it look easy. Always makes me wonder why everybody (no matter if you're stick or a mid capper) doesn't game irons like these..... and if anyone tells me its a " I shot shape" or "these will give up a few flyers" or "I need a skinny top line" thing, save your breath - thats all rubbish. Just's make me wonder is all. Why struggle or why make this already very hard game harder if irons like this clearly work for any level of player? I'm contemplating every decision I ever make when I see TXG vids like this.
Many reasons. Shot-shaping, which for some reason you dismiss. Too much height can cause issues in windy conditions. Too much distance can cause issues in your gapping. Going for looks is also a legitimate reason if you ask me.
I could see it improving his dispersion and SG: approach numbers once he got used to the distances and only hit full swings. If he started incorporating partial shots, I think that’s where the distance control issues come with irons like these. Flighting shots, aka delofting and taking off spin/trajectory from a product that already has ball speed and low spin could introduce some problems. The best would be to pair these with a spinner, lower launching ball to find a nice balance.
Is the word jumper just a flushed shot. I hear that word a lot and just wonder if people are all over the face of the club and then hit the center and call it a jumper?
The term of jumper just means it flew further than expected. I see this as predominantly high ball speed, high launch and low spin. The low spin part is what creates the big variable in distance.

Reviews on brands like Epon and Proto Concepts are one of the many reasons Ian and Mike continue to be my go-to.
Best part of the vids is the banter between Mike and Ian
Great test, i think the average joe portion is more relatable. I think that should be in all your tests.
I hope a permanent trio, Ian, Mike and Joe. (Left to Right Joe, R2L Joe, Hungover early T-time Joe!)
Great video but just wondering how good is EPON comparing with Mizuno?
Great video. Looks like a fantastic set of irons
All the Joe's! ha ha. First class as always lads.
Great vid. Full review on those shafts in the future as well?
Yes 👍🏼
Nice review and love the average Joe swings mixed in ! What do these compare to in size ? Titleist T350 ?
Average Joe thanks you for this test and the sharing of the data understanding 🤩
We can all relate to the struggles of average Joe!! 😂

@@clubchampionmedia thanks for the reply guys. I'll try test out some balls at the shop this weekend before pulling the trigger on a set.
Only F4 stiff darts? Would have thought you'd use the F5 x-stiffs. Do the dart v play quite stout to flex?
Does it feel butter smooth?
would you compare these to a Srixin ZX5
At first sight of that address position it looked like a Srixon.
I think that is same compare with epon AF 705? Is that true?
Could we get a review of all the Maltby irons at Golfworks?

I am still playing the callaway x12 irons
Great iron in its day.
On irons cant get enough spin to stop at low decent angles. Need 9500 range to stop at 35 or lower decent angle
Would love to see Ian put some “clunkers” like these in the bag with Arcos on and see if they improve or worsen his game.

I sense a series coming on “how to turn cutty Joe into drawy Joe”
Average Joe you are perfect just the way you are
Good God? Huhh?
