    I watched your videos and I bought the revival drive and the strymon iridium after that . I must say that it's my best purchase in years ! the sounds I get are gorgeous ! of course , I was waiting for classic tones and nothing else .
    Today my signal chain is : origin effects sliderig/Diaz square face/fulltone wha/J rockett el hombre/revival drive /empress para eq/strymon irridium (with york audio IR)/Jam delay lama / strymon flint
    I can plug the board everywhere (amp/daw/PA...) and the sound is always just what I v'e been looking for .
    I must say that the empress para eq after the revival drive is .... just magic !
    thanks a lot from France for your work , it helped me a lot to choose and understand what I was searching .
    My GAS crises are over , I can play guitar now !

    Don't get me wrong . I think there is nothing wrong with technical videos like this. They are wonderful. I am a bit from a different mindset. I feel there are different approaches . It seems I may be a bit old-school coming from the rock of the 70's and having learned to play within that era. I see today there appear to be many more people who appear to get more fulfillment from hours of tinkering with the electronics and accouterments of the industry. When I feel that that time could be much better spent pursuing other musical endeavors.I just cant spend that much endless time learning complex combinations all requiring such nuanced , and finite adjustments just to get a sound. I follow the Brian May mindset. A good guitar (admittedly in his case a unique guitar) a good overall amp and a few simple electronic tools that sets up quickly, plays consistently well every time , and requires less thought leaving more time to enjoy your music , and play. Just one persons opinion . Not bashing , Not being argumentative , in full respect to others opinions .. This is just mine .

      I hear ya. Thanks for the comment. Obviously there is a diminishing return when using any piece of gear. As for this video, the Revival Drive is an incredibly complex pedal and I haven't seen any videos on it so I wanted to have a guide so others could use it quickly and not spend the hours that I have haha.
      I also agree with you...mostly. I am a producer and writer and the most important thing is the song. The next most important is the sound quality. I do not want to be messing around with knobs and switches when the iron is hot. But when mic-ing amps, eq-ing tracks, and mixing, you need to have a critical and decisive ear. There is a time for writing, and there is a time for editing. Both of which complement each other when crafting and releasing a finished song.
      But to your point, I should start doing more videos on the creative process and how to keep it focused. The older videos I did were centered on the gear and how it would affect your writing style. It might be time to bring that back.
      Cheers,
      Alex

      @@SuperdangerStudiosIt’s a great pedal but there is definitely a lot to get your head around. I have found a couple of great sounds and I am giving myself a bit of time to get used to it. I also bought the Magma 57 and that is a lot easier to just turn on and play. I am fast becoming an Origin Effects fan boy! They actually build them about 20 miles away from where I live so thats a nice connection.

    This is very useful. Many thanks. Having just parted with my last remaining tube amp, I'm realising that the Iridium I have cannot be the ideal replacement all by itself. Although pricey, the Revivial drive looks like the ideal partner. I also have a UAFX Ruby to run alongside the Iridium in order to run two seperate channels (stereo) to FOH. I bet the Ruby also sounds better with the RD.

    • @SuperdangerStudios

      Great to hear and thanks for watching. The RD can be found used for around 450$ every now and then on reverb. The compact does about 80% of the full version and if you are running it into an iridium you have all the tone shaping there! Maybe something to look into?

    I’m a little bit confused : Revival pedal adds another preamp to Strymon Iridium which is already an amp sim… Why don’t you bypass amp sim of Iridium (using the power mode) for just keeping the IR loader of the Iridium ? In my opinion, you will get best of both the world ? Am I wrong ? Thanks from France 😊

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  Год назад

      Yes it is kind of overkill but in my mind I wanted to use the iridium as a tone shaper since there is no Treble mid bass on the revival drive. And since revival drive doesn’t do low gain stuff on its own, having it at a low setting with blend halfway is great to add a little analog action to the front end. But you’re right using the iridium as an IR loader works great as well. I just like to see if there are any tones I have overlooked.

    @SuperdangerStudios, excellent videos. I'm thinking of getting a revival drive for my board to play in rehearsal and live. Would you recommend the compact or the standard version? It might be helpful to have 2 drive sounds on tap for gigs but I think it may be overkill too. Thanks!

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  9 месяцев назад

      If you have a smaller board the compact is the way to go for sure. But the tonal options on the standard and the custom are so good. You can make it like a 3 channel amp w the mid boost footswitch too. Not sure if you need all those channels but theoretically you could have a great edge of break up tone, great overdrive tone, and then a boost for solo.

      @@SuperdangerStudios they are really good and very versatile. Line out, effects loop for Amps without them, excellent attenuator. If you go used avoid the Version 1 power station, it has a low pass filter around 5K and above which is permanently on. Noticeable when using the line out but affects the attenuated sound a little as well. Version 2 it can be turned off, Version 2A doesn’t have it. Had a V1 but sold it on because of that, got a V2A and it’s going nowhere.

  • @tr3ndkiller

    But isn’t that kind of setup impractical since you have the Revival Drive set to be using EQ1 to match the Fender Tweed style amp you have selected in the Iridium? So if you want to use the Marshall side I you have to flip the switch to EQ2? How does that work in a live setting? I’m asking because I’ve been considering getting the Iridium but thought I would have to place it in front of the Revival 🤔

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  Год назад +1

      In the situation you are describing I would just keep the revival drive at eq1 and the eq the Marshall channel of iridium to make it fit. That would work just fine.

    This video inspired to get back to my Iridium, as pedal platform. Spent almost a week with it and returned back to the clean amp in Archetype Rabea. It sounds and feels better to me. In Iridium, middle frequencies are a bit weird, and it introduces some latency. And additional AD/DA conversion in the chain doesn't make it better.
