I completely agree that it is better to use a separate resource for all components of LA versus having an all in one. By doing it this way you can select the exact level your child is at for each component. My son can read at a 5th grade level for instance but his grammar is more a 1st or 2nd grade level. It took me a year or two to figure out that an a la cart approach to LA works so much better!!! Thank you for making your videos. It must be hard to fit the time in to make these, especially with working AND homeschooling. Know that your work is appreciated!!! 🙂 I’m so thankful for the YT homeschooling community! ❤

My first 2 years I wanted a curriculum that told me what to do day by day. This year I started by scratch and created my own. I just bought this LA program on Friday and I am already looking at the schedule and loving that there are so many resources I can pull from but also swap resources.
I absolutely love the approach the Guest Hollow takes when putting together curriculum! It is so thorough, considering how small a company it is!! Love Guest Hollow and the books suggested for each subject. Also, amazed with the yearly link checks for all curriculum.

So my hair, I have a secret weapon lol I use the Octocurl you can find it on Amazon it’s a no heat curling thing. I’ve been using it for almost a year and it’s a game changer. Keeps my hair curled for days.

This seems like a neat option. I never knew they had a LA program. I had only briefly heard about their grammar recently too. I really want to give that a try.
I just started using Guest Hollow Language Arts and it’s incredible. I love all of the resources and it’s so FUN! Definitely looking to add in a science and history curriculum from them next year. #guesthollow
After watching both your videos I have decided this is what we’ll be using next year for our homeschool. I am so excited about it and can’t believe I haven’t heard about it before. It looks like it’s going to be the perfect fit for our family. I have found picking and choosing resources from different places is what works best for my kids so that’s another reason I think this curriculum will be so wonderful for us. This looks so good. I am struggling to find a writing program to get my kiddo introduced and engaged and the story maker looks like a great resource. I have been eyeing Beowulf’s grammar for years now and my kiddos are old enough for it so I am for sure going to look into both of these programs. Thanks for the review.

We used this curriculum last year and really enjoyed it. The Jolly Postman is a great book. It was one of the first books I got my daughter when she was born. They also have a Christmas edition. #guesthollow

Totally agree about piecing La together and not using an all in one. We’ve use all in one for a couple years and it worked okay (I had to supplement) but this year I knew it was time to start piecing together La for my 5th grader again. I’m not sure this La would work in this season of my homeschool BUT it looks absolutely fantastic for those who can make it work. We will stick with Beowulf for now! We’ve just about completed the first 9 weeks!
I don’t know how this curriculum isn’t talked about more. We haven’t tried the language arts yet, but I love the customibility it provides. #guesthollow

So adaptable. I can definitely see it being a bit overwhelming for the 1st year homeschool parent, like myself though, but in a couple of years I could see myself using this! #guesthollow

I never thought to try their Lang Arts - love that they include read alouds.
We use their science and history and the schedule is so customizable!

I’m new to your channel and homeschooling. But, thankful God lead me to your knowledge and advice. We started this first homeschooling, school year using TGATB and the last couple of months my 3rd grader has complained when it came to LA’s. Before our Christmas break I told my husband “what do you think about changing curriculum midyear”? When I heard the same words come out of your mouth, I got a great sense of confidence in our homeschooling journey.

I have looked at this curriculum before, but saw that it was a religious company. My homeschool is secular, and so I was wondering how religious it is because this looks amazing!

I'm really liking this compared to TGTB using books that they put out to be bought. I'm all about using the library.
The scheduling is what I love about #guesthollow the most. I already have a lot of the books they schedule or recommend (but they introduce me to some great ones I didn’t know about), and I have no doubt I could put together a schedule for reading them (however I definitely couldn’t create such great workbooks), but I’m not going to. I know myself and I have too many kids/time commitments to sit down and put something together. It is well worth it to me to buy a course from Guest Hollow for a very reasonable cost to save my sanity and time. That’s even more true for the courses which include workbooks or Guest Hollow edited/created spine textbooks (higher level sciences, for example).

We currently have a program we like but depending how the year ends, it’s definitely a possibility for next year. I like the looks of their #guesthollow geography and world history curriculum. My soon to be high schooler needs activities and not just reading and they seem to check all the boxes. I also love the affordability. #guesthollow

Is this a good all in one 2nd grade curriculum for advanced child?
You would have to go through all the recommended resources and see if it’s something that would work for your child ☺️ they do cover everything is you use all the recommendations

#guesthollow We definitely piece things together! I will say that my older kids (11 & 9) still LOVE picture books! They also like to read them to their little sisters. That’s an idea also if you think the picture book content is good for your 4th grader but she feels silly sitting and listening. 😊❤

I am actually thinking of switching to this now (mid-year). My son is in 6th grade. Will this still be age appropriate for him next year if I stretch it into the next school year?
Yes it will! You can always swap out some of the recommended readers and stuff for more age appropriate ones
I’m looking to simplify our current curriculum. It takes too long to complete what we are using now.
What are you using now? This is a pretty robust curriculum which can take anywhere from 30mins - hour

I just got the grammar curriculum but it doesn't say when to read the grammar books. Is that schedule included in the Language Arts download?
The stand alone grammar does not have a schedule or additional resources.
If you are looking for a schedule you can get the teachers guide, or you can get the LA curriculum which has a schedule and will also have additional resources.
