    I'm SO encouraged to see you use this with HOD! We are currently using Logic of English, but my daughter is almost finished with it. We have done a unit of Rod and Staff, but I am BORED. It is really hard to go from something suuuuuuper game based and active to Rod and Staff. Ugh. My daughter is in Bigger this year. I think I am going to purchase this and start it after Christmas!

    I use the Beowulf grammar with Michael clay Thompson grammar island. So far it’s great I am using it with a 5th and 2nd grader. My kids like the hands on activities. We do not do all of it though and we are not exactly doing it in order because I am more following the MCT books. One thing I found was Carson Delosa has a vocabulary graphic organizers I think I got the pdf on sale for 5.00 and it’s great for interactive Latin and Greek roots. I don’t know why but the guest hollow Lang arts seemed like a ton of work.

      It looks overwhelming when you pile everything together but they are only doing a little bit each day. It only takes us about 20 minutes total to do our Language Arts each day not including the kids independent reading. You really kind of get into a routine with it as time goes on too.

      This is what I am looking to do for next year. Do you mind letting me know how you combine the two? Do you still use Practice Island? Thanks in advance!

    • @Qetesh777
      @Qetesh777 2 года назад +1

      @@jessicab6265 we use the practice island with our morning work ( which is a sheet of paper with the practice sentence analysis, vocabulary, spelling, and copy work) as far as sentence island after we completed grammar island we read sentence island once a week and I pick out a page or two that correspond in Beowulf grammar. It’s pretty good we have not started the poetry book or the readers with MCT. I may complete them next year and delay the grammar town until we are done not sure 🤔.

    So, are you doing the language arts program as well or just the grammar part? I'm trying to figure out how the schedule works when you add in the writing and vocabulary and spelling, etc. of the language arts program. I am really really loving what I'm seeing so far! I think my oldest daughter would love this but I'm also contemplating waiting a year or two so my second daughter could join in (she's finishing kindergarten right now)...I'm just not sure if I want to wait that long!! It looks amazing!

    • @learningbetweenthepages527
      @learningbetweenthepages527  Год назад +2

      We did both. We didn't do every piece of the program but chose what worked for us. I did end up putting the majority of this aside for my 2nd grader till he was able to do more of the workbook on his own and my 4th grader at the time ended up joining in, so by the end of the year my 6th and 4th graders finished the program and enjoyed it very very much. My daughter now are 5th and 7th and still remember much of what they learned with Beowulf.

    I have seen the giant list of books they recommend for their LA program. Does the Beowulf's Grammar program have any suggested books? Thanks for this review! Definitely getting the Grammar for next year!

    • @learningbetweenthepages527
      @learningbetweenthepages527  2 года назад +1

      The grammar can be done by itself with nothing extra. The Language Arts from Guest Hollow is what has the other scheduled books. We have really enjoyed many of the books from the LA program and our library actual has many of them. We don't do all of them and you really don't have to. It has been a very enjoyable year for us. No complaints from my kids and I haven't once thought of switching to something else for any reason :)

      @@natasiabellah9124 I have 32 lb paper so I just used that. I do wish it was set up so you could just print front and back and the things that get cut out would automatically have a blank backside but that is not the case. So, I suggest printing it one part at a time single sided. Then print the review sheets for the weeks you need from the last part. I'm assuming they are still separated into 4 parts when you go to print the student pages. There's also a facebook group for this that people share a lot of tips on as well. I printed the teacher guide front and back.

    • @learningbetweenthepages527
      @learningbetweenthepages527  2 года назад

      I'm not sure of the total cost. I did print it at home with my brother MFC-J995DW printer. I think it may cost quite a bit to have it printed for you at an office store or print shop. It's definitely something to print at home if you have a good printer.

    • @learningbetweenthepages527

      You can really use anything you'd like after you finish it. Most things will seem like review to the kids though I think since Beowulf covers pretty much all of the grammar they need to learn in elementary school. Maybe look into fix it grammar or something like that. We will most likely be using Rod and Staff next year because it's written into the curriculum we are using.

      I found it helpful for my kids be able to read before doing this. It would have been much more teacher intensive for me if they could not read it themselves. Otherwise, I don't think they really need anything before jumping right into this.
