This ASBAB word knowledge test includes 40 questions measuring your ability to select the correct meaning of a word in context and to identify the best synonym for a certain word all within a relatively short time frame.
This is essentially a vocabulary test with some questions asking you to select the correct definition of a word and other questions asking you to select the word from your options that is most similar in meaning to the word provided.
My tip for everyone taking the asvab for the WK section is to look at your other answer choices most of the time some of the words mean the same thing ,use process of elimination
You guys got this. I never been a test type of person but I studied my words and words and words nothing else because they don't tell you but the vocabulary is double points so if you ace the vocabulary you will do absolutely great. I got a 23 first time 28 second time then when I just focused on the words I got an 82 with a Gt score of a 119. Hope this helped and good luck

@@nicholascampos3301it helps with comfortability because it’s what this part of the test looks like. However, this section is very hit or miss. It just completely depends on your word knowledge and your ability to use context clues. My best advice for you would be to consume as much literature you can, and anytime you come across a word you don’t understand look it up, but try to figure it out on your own first.

@@ericchen6768 no, you study words in general. Immerse yourself into many forms of literature, if you see any word you that you don’t know the meaning of then try to figure it out on your own with context clues. Then look it up to see if you got it right. If not then it’s fine , you’ve added a new word to your vocabulary.

If only the majority of the questions were actually sentences on the asvab and not just “what this word means”. It would be so much easier
Some of these words are on there. Like warily. I think that's how it's spelled lol

yes, the questions give no context at all.
As an ESL person, this scares me😢 since I never heard some of those words. But with a sentence, it is way easier to guess.
@@pympho2549its pretty much like that on the SAT or ACT. That’s what pisses me of about these tests is that they trick you.
I just subscribed and will continue to follow to keep practicing. This is nice. but on the practice test I do with my Navy recruiter be extremely hard with words I’ve never seen in my life 😢

I just passed
I got 20 in the final score, but in the mathematics parts I got a 52 and in arithmetic 52, and 31 in word knowledge, although I only studied the words, in the exam I only got 15, of which I had never seen them and that I reviewed and studied more than 1000

Dam I must’ve been good in math. I scored at a 95th percentile on arithmetic and math knowledge. But verbals skills are at a 30th range

great videos but if you could update your exam question on your webpage to ask the actual question instead of just giving a statement and multiple choices.

Yo saque 20 en el score pero en ambas matemáticas obtube un 52 sin estudiar, aunque me mate estudiando word knolege solo obtube un 31 me tocaron 15 palabras nunca antes visto en todo las 1,300 que estudie y repase

@@giovanniroman1099 yo tambien ando estudiando, yo te recominedo que compress un libro oh ir ala pagina de quizlet y estudiar las palabras ya que las palabras son doble puntos. No importa si sacas mala clasificaciones en matematicas mientras te aprendas las palabras y sepas poquito de mecanica sacaras una clasificacion alta.

That's why you study the words, or use it in a sentence and pick the one that sounds good/makes sense.
