Never played Granblue Versus, but the free version is an awesome idea. I'm probably gonna try it out! Seigfried's moves look so awesome, like they have so much impact lol.
I hope for the upcoming fighting games to have a free edition just like Granblue Rising where there are limitations in the game but you can still play a functional online match. I know, most of the fighting game demos/betas only lasts for a couple of days and its purpose is to test the online functionality and what the players feel for the game, giving the developers more time to polish things. I’m glad there’s a free version of GB Rising for the people to play and can’t afford to buy the complete edition.
So I just downloaded the free edition since I'm still up during the very early morning as of posting this, and I must say, a frying pan weapon skin for Djeeta is an amazing idea.

Not gonna lie, it's freaking cool that they though about this. Nowadays demos or not for all games, like you buy something but you don't even know if you'll enjoy it at least a little. And for fighting games it's something that was missing, I mean you can even play online ranked matches. More fighting games should think about that in order to make more people buy it in the end

I would love to see strive get a free to play version so we got more player in this game especially with the recent announcement of 3v3

Not sure how to feel about the rotating characters thing over just 4 characters straight up but I guess that's how they incentivize you to actually uby teh game. Only one character is def quite demoralising to play the game though if you don't like the char but I love the idea of a free version, more games should def do this.

I’m kinda confused how the online and cross-play will work when you only have the free version whereas your opponent has the standard one.
The free version is basically the full version with stuff locked out, so you should be able to play with someone who has the full version without any tech issues.
Only problem I’d have with the free is the characters I feel like it kinda stupid to rotate them Ina way cause your only limited to the character for a week and then u can’t touch them again so to me I’d feel they should atleast allow them to by dlcs and rotate
It's to promote trying out the entire cast. The rotation is to promote buying the full game, because if they included a static list of 5 permanent characters people would just play with those 5. It also helps for online matches to not feel stale with the same 5 free characters always being played.
I’m with Phil on this one! However I think what unknown is trying to say is he wish the free version was more DOA style? Where you can buy the individual characters that you want to play. Overall this free edition model for fightings is pretty sparse in practice so I think it will take awhile for their to be a “golden standard” if other developers start to implement these
I will be getting this game for Christmas on Steam and I have played through the whole story mode in the original GBVS (also on Steam), but can I still play the Free Version and carry over story save data when I purchase the game? I plan on not touching the story mode in the free version, but I'm still kind of worried that something might go wrong when I eventually transfer 😬
When you buy the full version you can use the save data transfer feature so yes everything you unlock will transfer over however I am not sure if progress itself will so just keep that in mind. It would make sense if it does too though
thanks for the devs to make free content and when we enjoy it we buy full game . great way to get more players rather than downloding cracked games. if more fighting games did free characters but only skins and dlc +( hp bar skins / character commentary / epic cinimatics )are with money . more people will play fighting games and more people will spend more on aesthetic while playing ranked to show off . this is how moba games make money by emotes and skins
Honestly knowing it is a full priced game instead of a DLC cheaper for those who bought the base game from the beginning and waited with the awful netcode all these years for this update, I moved away, maybe in the future I will check it again, but a hard pass to me. It has both a physical and digital copy. The problem is what console are you getting it on. Unless you mean the free version. If you mean the free version,then yeah, its only digital.

Only P1 of the story which sucks. And no frame data, character trails or situational training, meaning it's harder to learn characters properly, that is, if you have the character that week.

Tekken doesn't let you buy individual characters apart from T7 season pass characters. And Tekken doesn't even have a "free version", it has a demo which is vastly different.
