    Boy this girl was something else. I wish there were live videos of her performances like this. She was bringing the house down. A lot of people who only focus on her 90's voice try to group her with other females but Whitney was pure soul. Arista records had a rare diamond in their hands and they fumbled it.There wouldn't have been a discussion on who is a better vocalist or singer than Whitney if her earlier shows were highlighted.

      Yes. Instead of documentaries of salacious details about her private life, these concerts sitting in the vault are what they should be releasing. Her team should take note of what Mariah has been doing. Restoring the best performances and putting them on youtube.

      THIS goes out to the ones that always said she cant sing about E5. Listen to that GB5, held with vibrato. No one uses the notes from her concerts from 1985-1988 because they know they will all loose.. The ring on that note. I never heard anywhere else.

      Piano&VocalGuy89 well the nodes, having a baby, and a mix of smoking more cigarettes. A lot of singers say having a baby lowers your tone

    • @muzimthembu453
      @muzimthembu453 2 года назад +3

      @@kylesummers2462 Well, that, and the fact that she was a baby here. Youth is responsible for the buoyancy of alot of vocalists. By the time a woman turns 30 her voice is bound to mature. In this performance you can hear Whitney is still a child. But by the time she released The Bodyguard soundtrack she was a grown woman, and sounded like it.

    • @maxpotential-4074
      @maxpotential-4074 Год назад +4

      @@muzimthembu453 I think her voice stopped maturing by 1985, she was a natural soprano. It definitely doesn't take 30 years for the vocal cords to stop changing. Generally, the human voice stabilizes between the ages of 18-21. Mariah Carey (for example) had the same exact tonal quality from 1990 and on. In 1990 she was around 21, her voice had fully matured by that age. Same thing goes for Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Aretha Franklin, etc. None of their voices took 30 years to mature. If Whitney didn't smoke or have a child, her voice wouldn't have changed so dramatically. She would've still had her light soprano tone throughout the late 80s and 90s.

    • @muzimthembu453
      @muzimthembu453 Год назад

      @@maxpotential-4074 A woman's voice is unlike a man's voice in that it actually matures in her 30s. By then it naturally drops by 1 or 2 notes, unlike a man, whose voice drops by considerably more by the time he's 25.
      Secondly, Whitney Houston was never a soprano. She was always, till the end, a mezzo. Being a soprano isn't about the notes that you can hit- it's about what the voice does in certain places. Patti Labelle is a soprano, and you can hear it in the caliber of sound of the notes she sings in. She may have lost a few of her tops notes as she's aged, but that quality of sound remains. Whitney, Mariah, Aretha and Celine are mezzos- the most common voice type for a female singer.

    Whitney showcasing evenness of sound throughout the entire range of the song (Mariah is not capable of such a feat because her instrument is just underdeveloped LOL) and also huge volume control in chest as well head voice. She executes a "Subito piano" at 4:02, she floats a pianissimo in head voice, and she unleashes the chest on that F#5 (fortissimo) at 3:52. Mariah just can't do that! Mariah can copy paste each and every note she sings in studio a billion times and make a song, but she can't sing it live. LOL Maria lipped sync "Fly like a bird" at the Grammys. LOL
