    Lyrics:
Didn't we almost have it all
When love was all we had worth giving?
The ride with you was worth the fall my friend
Loving you makes life worth living
Didn't we almost have it all?
The night we hold on 'til the morning
You know you'll never love that way again
Didn't we almost have it all?

it makes me cry sometimes though hearing her sing because this was a god-given gift so obviously and so beautifully.... the COCOON OF GREEDY A## FAMILY+ FRIENDS...,( the "YES!" people tin her life that wanted to use her as a ATM machine... have blood on their hands .. don't let it happen in your family. no matter what, you must be brave and ask for help for yourself or for the one you love. remember that substance use disorder is a family illness as well, and families need to educate themselves about it! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

My Whitney story. I am in my seventies and I was at that concert 3rd row with my friend Gina. This was one of the eight concerts that I saw Whitney in the mid eighties, all in NY state. I met and talked to her on two occasions, once in Lake Placid and also Saratoga. We were obsessed with her and new we were seeing musical history in the making. At Lake Placid, we went to the Holiday Inn where they were staying around noon (the day of her concert) and saw Ricky Miner and some of her band in the lobby. Everyone was nice and told us Whitney would be coming to the restaurant at some point. Gina and I waited in the narrow hallway. About 30 minutes went by and we looked up and there was Whitney, Robyn Crawford and a bodyguard face to face 3 feet away from us. It was probably the most exciting, surreal feeling I have ever had. Having seen all her videos numerous times she was so beautiful like a Barbie doll come to life right before our eyes. It was just the 5 of us. We told her how much we loved her and couldn't wait to see her that night. We talked to her for about 5 minutes and she signed my vinyl album. A little later she came out of the restaurant and signed some autographs. Gina and I talked to Robyn off to the side during that time and she was really cool. We were in the first row that night. We had seats in row 16 already so we gave two girls $100 to change seats with us. Of the 8 times I saw her, 5 of those were 1st or 2nd row from stage. Too see Whitney live was so incredible and there is no doubt in my mind she is the greatest singer of all time (I have seen many of the best during my life). This video at Saratoga Maybe the best of all of her live videos and I feel so blessed to have been there to see it. I remember her telling the audience they were doing the video and everyone was so excited about it. I also met her brother Gary at Saratoga Radisson hotel in the afternoon of her concert and he gave me 2 3rd row seats after I showed him my 300 page album I had made to honor her. She looked thru my album and jokingly asked if I was giving it to her and I said I don't think so, she autographed my album which I still have. I also gave her roses each of the two years she performed at the NY state fair when she did her first song, one being "How will I Know".

So many times, people complain that a song isn't exactly like the recorded version when they see/hear it live (making it harder to sing along), but Whitney did the damn thing with this one. I'm so glad that she lived in an age where performances like this one could be preserved for future generations.

I love how in the beginning, it's like she is telling the audience a story, taking them down memory lane etc. However, by the end of it, she was completely immersed in her reminiscing, to the point where you are brought to tears by what she must've been feeling and reliving at the time. It's so rare to see such an honest and vulnerable performance, underpinned by unspeakable talent... Miss you Ms Whitney!!

One of the best vocals of all time. The Agility(runs and riffs) and melisima, resonant upper belt, phrasing F5s,growls,phrased growls, perfect vibrato, falsettos and connected headvoice, emotions and more!
No wonder she was nicknamed The Voice!

This is what makes me happy ! When people like you can describe a voice.. it’s more than just holding a note. When you have the techniques as you mentioned, THATS when I will listen to these current singers. Whitney and others from her time had talent, and they had some of the techniques you mentioned! But by all means, Whitney had the whole formula from resonance, pitch, accuracy, melismas, agility, falsetto, dynamics, breath control, connected registers, interpretation, musicality, I could go ON! She wasn’t human 😭✨

Whitney number 1, she was amazing live, outsang Mariah, and she taught 5 generations how to sing. Then you have Celine who is also great live and snatches the second place for consistency, third is Mariah, who is amazing in studio, has the best technique, and was phenomenal during her prime.
