Real Talk. Whitney was, the Bomb, of all voices. Check out, a song didn't make, her top , list but should have. It's called, Your Still my Man. Also listen in Acapella. Should have been the topj song,
One of Nippy's most technically accomplished performances. Every note is properly placed; every word properly enunciated. Her upper belts here remind you that even though other singers have similar, or even wider, ranges, their belts can never approximate the sheer silk and steel beauty of Whitney's. Add to these the sheer inspiration and fervor with which she sings the song and you've got yourself a performance that will withstand the test of time. Here is The Voice, folks, and nothing but.
Thank you for wonderfully describing the beauty of Whitney's vocal delivery in this particular performance. Mulling over it, I would say that she was able to give this level of tonal bravado and emotive weight because of her rock solid foundation in gospel and soul. It's truly a marvel, though, when we consider that many gospel singers never had the technical prowess and pitch precision of Whitney Houston. She offered a stunning combination of high technicality and legitimate soul, which made her no less than the Greatest Voice of All.
@@navyforeveryoungjean-phili5940 Both gifted singers. As Whitney once said: "Mariah is a hell of a singer" after working with her. Whitney had an incredibly unique gift and it should be appreciated in its own right. We don't need to pit people against one another or make comparisons. Whitney was one of a kind.
My God....Her voice is smooth, velvety & sweet like honey, but hits you like getting hit by Thor's hammer...The power, control, vibrato, diction & vocal ease shows you why Whitney couldn't be touched by ANYONE...The best ever...Whitney *"The Vocal Tsunami"* Houston
When Whitney sang gospel, her anointing was on full display. God yielded His spirit through her, His glory resonated and He truly resided in her heart. This single performance was not about show boating or bragging, this was her singing to an audience of one. She was truly anointed to sing the gospel. She was trying to get back to that place. This is where she felt the most comfortable, and her peace was found in songs such as these.
Facts!!! I’m so tired of folks saying she’s an alto and mezzo smh !! Whitney’s Natural Voice was A Soprano as her Great mother was one as well . That’s how she was trained . As you can see her flawless technique in her Head voice . Even and Full!
iLLustR8 She was a mezzo-soprano by voice type. Lack of musical understanding prompts you to take issue with that. Now, in a choral setting yes, I'm sure a choir director would assign her to the soprano section, but please understand the difference between voice type and choir parts.
I must say that there is something about Whitney's voice that makes me almost cry. It's so beautiful. If a voice like this ever comes around again the world would be a better place
@@wadner8119 I love him Campbell, but it's voice didn't sound even in a million years of Whitney Houston. His voice is light, lilty, soulful, but doesn't have the same level of control, Tambor, power, depth of resonance is Whitney Houston there's just too many things to name off for Tevin Campbell isn't even in the same element as a Whitney Houston. But I still love me some Campbell!
I remember her singing this song when she was a teenager at New Hope. I was younger, but I knew there was something different when she sang. I now know it was the anointing of the Lord.
@@Truth_Seeker96 yes! I was in the Inspirational Choir at New Hope Baptist Church. Her aunt directed that choir. I heard Whitey sing this song several times. It brought tears to my eyes each time. The words, the meaning behind them, and her voice -- all beautiful.
I envy you so much!!! I lived in south Jersey...I am just a couple years younger than she was...so I grew up listening to her records from the beginning...but regretfully...I never saw her perform in person...but for sure...I know she's with the Lord, now.
Ever since she died, I find myself looking for live videos like this at least 3 to 4 times a month. I can’t seem to shake the sadness of her being gone. For those who grew up in the 80’s, she was a part of our childhood.
That is so true. Like you I grew up in the 80's and she was everything with her emotional voice. It was like heaven to hear her on the radio and like you I thrall the net to find more of her live performances. A truly great has left us.
when i get down and depressed, i listen to gospel music to help me cry and feel. it's odd because i consider myself an atheist. but i feel the hope in the voices of black gospel singers. Miss Houston's voice is a refuge from the pain. Her song and sound will live on for the ages, to give many, like me, comfort.
Christ’s presence is that quiet place. He is the source of authentic peace that doesn’t make sense, joy unspeakable, extraordinary strength and hope. He is a good friend for the heart. He’s the only one who can make you feel like you’ve never done anything wrong…
actually, her live 1986 rendition of "I am changing" is THE greatest live performance not only be her, but by any singer who's ever lived. it's here on youtube.
R3DH4WT we all have our preferences right lol. to me, her performance of "I am changing" is just so epic. she sounds like a lone warrior using her voice as a weapon to destroy everything around her. the band playing, and the epic drumming adds to it. but yes this performance here is also brilliant, more of a hymn. very subdued, yet powerful and soul stirring. what a brilliant vocalist she was in her prime.
**Correction: KeKe Wyatt could absolutely "touch" this performance. ---->>>> . . . Not in the way Whitney Houston "touches it." Two different anointings. But could still touch it.
She is the most anointed, talented, effortless singer we will ever have the pleasure to hear in our lifetime. No other compares. I miss her soooooo much. RIP Whitney...your gave us a lot. Thank you.
Cissy was about to burst wide open over her baby, but then went right back into full blown stage mom/director mode and told those musician where to go at 2:00.
Her voice was literally like something out of the woods; a phenomenon you maybe experience once if you’re very lucky. She’s in prime form here and the singing is simply unbelievable!
Her voice was and is a miracle. Once in a generation? More like once in a century. Whenever I want to cut through all the nonsense regarding her life and demise, I play this video. She was the perfect singer. She had Aretha's soul married with operatic projection and grandeur. It doesn't get any better. I'll miss her forever.
And to all haters who claim she was high on drugs every time she performed because of her heavy sweating. This video is proof. She sweated because she was an 'Aerobic singer' and gave it all. Drugs had nothing to do with it.
stalitzz I don’t think people should be speculating if she’s on drugs, that’s uncalled for and mean. But to flat out say she’s not on drugs because it’s the 80’s is just wishful thinking. She was doing drugs for a long time, even in the 80’s. But yes it could’ve been the lights, we don’t know.
This is almost unreal to the ears. If anyone ever questions why she is considered THE VOICE, you send them this lil video right here. The gift is UNDENIABLE.
Stunned. I can't find the words to describe the wave of tingling that lifted every hair on my neck and arms. Jaw dropped. For anyone who has an ear....this is 100% live, it can be felt and seen in each note. It isn't difficult to decipher the difference.
A naturally beautiful voice with elements of operatic resonance!! A rich mezzo soprano! She would have been ideal as an opera singer as well! We are blessed to have these recordings of her remarkable work!!
No that cannot be taught- you either have it or you don't. Many are taught and some are born with gifts. Whitney was born with it and persecuted because of it by demonic forces.
When someone says that Mariah is more great Singer than Whitney, I'll make listening to the world this live Whitney's performance... And then there's no needing other words to say... Mariah have very great voice, but Whitney is out of this world! Unachievable unmatchable irreplaceable untouchable, remarkable Whitney The Voice Elizabeth Houston! None can come close to her! Not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow, never ever! Will never born again another Whitney Houston! That's facts! Nippy, The Voice of God! God bless y'all my dears Nippians, and bless the world, specially in this tragic moment... All we are saying is give peace and chance!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🌈🌈🌈❤️❤️❤️🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Omg...didnt know this level of singing was humanly possible even tough she is 'the voice' its like no one could ever come close to this kinda perfection, her voice often resembles musical instrument, thats how on point she is
The angels are in a class of their own. ;-) They are a different class of creation. But as far human class, sub-division women goes, she's right up there.
The thing about Whitney is that she communicates God’s voice through her mouth. You can almost hear God through her words, her complex phrases, and her richness. There was something so profound about her voice that you’ll never find again. Whether that’s her tone, her control over dynamics, her head voice, etc. there was obviously something special. And you knew it whenever you heard it. We’ll always love Whitney. She gave the world the gift of music. She communicated so much with us. Her music and her legacy will live forever.
At 3:38 when her mother cissy Houston told her daughter send off Whitney everybody knew it was over she took that voice to heavens gates and back wowwww. The greatest singer of all time.
Cissy's happy smile and the way she looked at Whitney brought tears to my eyes. She loved her daughter so very much, she was so proud of her. It's so sad the way Whitney's life went down. I cannot imagine the pain and anguish that it had brought upon Cissy's loving heart but I feel for her deeply.
Whitney loved God! I don't care what nobody says bad about her. That one thing will overshadow anything wrong that she's ever done. Cissy blessed her baby. Whitney heard her mom blowing the whole time that she was inside of her. Whitney feels music. Just like she did in Cissy's womb. Her mom is standing there looking so proud.I know that as well as Whitney's voice being annointed her mom is thinking, I've taught her well. This is a beautiful moment. Look at God!
I really have no words. A gift from God. I needed to hear this and just be still and know that He is God. So much bad news...but in quietness is my strength. Blessings to all.
+Derek Jones What is a gift of God? It is this voice! Therefore, there is no one to compare! I am seen in a video on RUclips right here, in an interview with Whitney for Rosie O'Donnell, who as a baby she had torn the roof of the mouth by a hook and that the doctors told her mother that maybe she could never speak. Well, she can speak, the better she can still sing and sing like no one else! Whitney's voice was a little miracle, a taste of what heaven reservation!
A vocal genius. This is my favorite performance by Miss Houston. She had everything I could ask for in a singer... The tone, agility, power, control, soul etc... Just perfect. She'll always be the greatest singer of all time to me. RIP
NO VOICE WILL EVER REPLACE WHITNEY AND SHE CONTINUES TO LIVE,IN OUR HEARTS THROUGH HER LEGACY OF THE GIFT GOD GAVE HER. HE LOANED WHITNEY TO US,SO WE WOULD KNOW AND FEEL HIS PRESENCE. LONG AFTER, WHITNEY GRACED THIS EARTH. GONE TOO SONG,BUT FOREVER REMEMBERED.
When Whitney belts that first high note at 1.22 she literally takes her mum's breath away, that woman sang live for so many yrs,I'm so sick of hearing about things she did wrong was what made her voice change, of course all that contributed but what she gave us is incomparable, noone has come any where close imo, alot of people say this and that, they obviously know nothing,I love you Whitney, your music lives on in our hearts, thankyou,R.I.P, W.E.H, PEACE ✌ ✌
My favorite performance ever. As always, complete control. Check out her right foot, she counts beat while simultaneously singing with total fluidity. I noticed this many times when I saw her live, and is evidenced on many live videos. Not only a singer's singer, but a musician's singer as well. Fully aware, and usually controlling, the tempo and key of the music, while having total respect for it. My Nippy, THE pinnacle of the definition "singer", a genius of her craft on so many levels.
In later years (more so outside of her prime, but also sometimes in her prime, she would wiggle her fingers frequently and it usually corresponded to a run or Melisma.....why do you think she did that? I think I have seen some other singers do this as well.
2008bscott what do you mean why lol? It was just a Whitney trademark mannerism. Every singer has them when getting into the song enough. What I like about whitneys is even when they seem odd, I never perceive them that way, because her performance and emotion is ALWAYS genuine, unlike Mariah, where sometimes you get the feeling Mariah is saying with her body language "yeah I'm such a diva rocking this shit" etc. Whitney was above that. She sang for the song. Always
LORDDDD that last, "quiettttt plaaaacceeee" rips into my soul! To maintain that vibrato while simultaneously climbing in key is RIDICULOUS...do u know how HARD that truly is to achieve...my goodness, just unparalleled in every way....
You are absolutely right because you can't maintain vibrato when you have climbed to the edge of your range. She had everything!!!! She was blessed and she would always say that she knew God had blessed her with voice.
My apologies to those who bring up other names when listening to this true greatness, but it's just embarrassing so please don't. No one can touch her.
Her voice shows she is godly. Her life story shows she is human.

Belting "quiet " with full vibrato is hard, like when she belted "choice " on Miracle. It ain't easy to do. But she did.
Except Mariah Carey
Thank you for wonderfully describing the beauty of Whitney's vocal delivery in this particular performance. Mulling over it, I would say that she was able to give this level of tonal bravado and emotive weight because of her rock solid foundation in gospel and soul. It's truly a marvel, though, when we consider that many gospel singers never had the technical prowess and pitch precision of Whitney Houston. She offered a stunning combination of high technicality and legitimate soul, which made her no less than the Greatest Voice of All.
Oh how eloquently placed and how very true...
@christian Williams yesss You said the same thing I was thinking unmatched , Effortless..🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ she can do it sitting down
My God....Her voice is smooth, velvety & sweet like honey, but hits you like getting hit by Thor's hammer...The power, control, vibrato, diction & vocal ease shows you why Whitney couldn't be touched by ANYONE...The best ever...Whitney *"The Vocal Tsunami"* Houston
Thors Hammer I love it...Whitney's voice just lights up the sky!
AMEN..A Heavenly Angelic Tsunami returned back to the Ocean SHORES OF GLORY in the Presence of GOD once more and Forever !!!
Lord have mercy..
She's more like Storm
When Whitney sang gospel, her anointing was on full display. God yielded His spirit through her, His glory resonated and He truly resided in her heart. This single performance was not about show boating or bragging, this was her singing to an audience of one. She was truly anointed to sing the gospel. She was trying to get back to that place. This is where she felt the most comfortable, and her peace was found in songs such as these.
Listen to"i believe" live. It's so unreal.
Only God could have given Whitney this beautiful voice so I wish people stop trying to sing like her
Yes! Anointed. 🙌
I always come back to this and honestly believe it’s the best vocal performance she ever gave

Em quentão de técnica ss ela deu cores e tom surpreendente
Her mum was proud😭😻
I can learn it in their eyes 😭
This really spoke to my spirit! I don't care what anyone says, WHITNEY HOUSTON was the best to ever do it! THE VOICE!
Amen❤😅
Both her and Mariah. They are together the Voices.@@crystalsmith4187
This is not talent, the is A GIFT! A voice like this born once every century.
The BEST soprano voice I have ever heard.
Craig Furlow exactly.. she da best.
Facts!!! I’m so tired of folks saying she’s an alto and mezzo smh !! Whitney’s Natural Voice was A Soprano as her Great mother was one as well . That’s how she was trained . As you can see her flawless technique in her Head voice . Even and Full!
Craig Furlow Me too!!!!
iLLustR8 She was a mezzo-soprano by voice type. Lack of musical understanding prompts you to take issue with that. Now, in a choral setting yes, I'm sure a choir director would assign her to the soprano section, but please understand the difference between voice type and choir parts.
Clasically speaking, she is a pure mezzo. A soprano does not sound like this at all. Most full-voiced belters are mezzos.
I must say that there is something about Whitney's voice that makes me almost cry. It's so beautiful. If a voice like this ever comes around again the world would be a better place
The world needs another amazing voice that's for sure. There will only ever be one WHITNEY, untouchable in my eyes.
Dan O'Connor Tevin Campbell comes close to having a voice very similar to Whitney Houston
Dan O'Connor me too.. i. Not a cryer but she makes me feel it.
She da best.
This is exactly how I feel about Whitneys voice and heart she makes the world a better place ❤️
I remember her singing this song when she was a teenager at New Hope. I was younger, but I knew there was something different when she sang. I now know it was the anointing of the Lord.
You seen her live?
@@Truth_Seeker96 yes! I was in the Inspirational Choir at New Hope Baptist Church. Her aunt directed that choir. I heard Whitey sing this song several times. It brought tears to my eyes each time. The words, the meaning behind them, and her voice -- all beautiful.
@@NEANABUGwow!
I envy you so much!!! I lived in south Jersey...I am just a couple years younger than she was...so I grew up listening to her records from the beginning...but regretfully...I never saw her perform in person...but for sure...I know she's with the Lord, now.
That must have been an amazing experience to hear Whitney Houston sing in a church building!
That Vibrato and the riffs thoughhhh........ she knew she killed it......
Ever since she died, I find myself looking for live videos like this at least 3 to 4 times a month. I can’t seem to shake the sadness of her being gone. For those who grew up in the 80’s, she was a part of our childhood.
The ever-curious Jen I am right there with you...we were so lucky to witness FIRST HAND...the phenoms.....WHITNEY..MICHAEL..
PRINCE AND LUTHER....
T Hunter Yes indeed!
Same. I'm back in 2022. Born in 1980. I feel so lucky to have witnessed her in my life.
I can't shake it either,I cry every time I listen to her or watch her sing. I'm still mourning her death. I loved, no adore her so much.
That is so true. Like you I grew up in the 80's and she was everything with her emotional voice. It was like heaven to hear her on the radio and like you I thrall the net to find more of her live performances. A truly great has left us.
Whitney voice was god given
MARIAH , CELINE , NO ONE ALIVE OR DECEASED HAS EVER REACHED THIS LEVEL OF PERFECTION! SHE WAS CLEARLY A GIFT FROM GOD !
These are the best comments I've ever read
nothing but the truth💯
Mackenzie
Dude I'm getting goosebumps just by reading through the comments
She was truly special
Ms Whitney Elizabeth Houston....not the voice of a generation.....the voice of a lifetime...period. Absolutely the voice of an angel
God is Real!!!!!
Johnny Blaze This will make you believe!!!
Amén!!

Yes Jehovah is the REALEST there is and has ever been! Just listen to what he can create.

I sometimes get sad thinking about how much her mother misses her- she’s so proud of her little girl here and at one point, astounded by her voice.
Simply angelic . Simply the best. My god. She's with you singing forever in this same tune. New body . New sprit
when i get down and depressed, i listen to gospel music to help me cry and feel. it's odd because i consider myself an atheist. but i feel the hope in the voices of black gospel singers.
God's love shines through it all
This performance should've been on her live CD!
My sentiments exactly
I Agree
It wasn't a live performance...this is television and it's lip synched.
huh?
Are you crazy? This is 100% LIVE!
Single best vocal performance in the history of the world by any singer. Alive or dead!
I agree!!!!
actually, her live 1986 rendition of "I am changing" is THE greatest live performance not only be her, but by any singer who's ever lived. it's here on youtube.
That one is 2nd to this! This performance is just perfect in everyway! to me.
Master Superblaster I couldnt agree more
Notice her eyes closed!! She was so connected!!!
She will reign for the next 100 years as the best singer in modern history. Not a single vocalist could touch this performance. None of them
Wow
Pure truth
I wish I could come close

She is the most anointed, talented, effortless singer we will ever have the pleasure to hear in our lifetime. No other compares. I miss her soooooo much. RIP Whitney...your gave us a lot. Thank you.
♥️♥️♥️
Absolutely! She was so blessed. What a gift. There will never be another Whitney.
1.22... That voice.that sound. it just erupts and pours out of her. its like the sound of god. and thank god we have this recording,
Her interpretation of a song was like no other! 1:58-2:05; oh my God, that tone!!
I'm not a religious man but when hear this voice I feel the need to bow down!
This was god not human. We will not hear another singer like this in our lifetime…
God gave us an sample how an angel looks and sound like✨✨
I'm listening to this the day before Easter, 2023. Whitney's vocal are still the greatest. I miss you, Sister. I know heaven is beautiful.
No one has or ever will have THIS voice. So many layers to her tone, power, and vocals....just unmatched
@0:34 when that organ hit that chord and Whitney sings "There's!" almost stops my heart. God was all up and through that woman and that entire studio.
ok
Thank you JESUS!!!!
Cissy was about to burst wide open over her baby, but then went right back into full blown stage mom/director mode and told those musician where to go at 2:00.
Her tone, her control, her vocal power... breathtaking
AMAZING. Best vocalist who has ever lived.
ABSOLUTELY
Her voice was literally like something out of the woods; a phenomenon you maybe experience once if you’re very lucky. She’s in prime form here and the singing is simply unbelievable!
Her voice was and is a miracle. Once in a generation? More like once in a century. Whenever I want to cut through all the nonsense regarding her life and demise, I play this video. She was the perfect singer. She had Aretha's soul married with operatic projection and grandeur. It doesn't get any better. I'll miss her forever.
I couldn't have said it better man. I totally agree. I was so hoping for her to succeed in her comeback and in her life but God wanted her more.
You nailed it! That soul with those extended notes....wow!!!
And to all haters who claim she was high on drugs every time she performed because of her heavy sweating. This video is proof. She sweated because she was an 'Aerobic singer' and gave it all. Drugs had nothing to do with it.
Nico Chisha amen
Nico Chisha How do you know she's not on drugs here? She was doing drugs in the late 80's too.
U know stage lights are very hot..most artist sweat on stage even when there's no dancing involved.
stalitzz I don’t think people should be speculating if she’s on drugs, that’s uncalled for and mean. But to flat out say she’s not on drugs because it’s the 80’s is just wishful thinking. She was doing drugs for a long time, even in the 80’s. But yes it could’ve been the lights, we don’t know.
Nico Chisha I feel like it was because of the wigs she wore.
Most beautiful being I have ever seen
better vocals have never been heard!!!!!
Cissy was looking at Whitney with such pride.
When Cissy encouraged her baby at 2:56… chills 🥹
Interesting thing i just noticed. Just like Aretha, Whitney also closed her eyes when singing gospel.
When people ask Why is Whitney the voice, I just send them this! End of discussion!
And this one too
ruclips.net/video/jEFLZg2748A/видео.html
That smile on Cissy's face says it all. Like a teacher who is totally approving of her student.
He hastened her home because she was too good for this world.
The athletic control she had over her voice was God given. You can't teach that. You're born with it.
I agree
She was born with that voice- believe it
No that cannot be taught- you either have it or you don't. Many are taught and some are born with gifts. Whitney was born with it and persecuted because of it by demonic forces.
Tara LS isn't she absolutely fantastic here only god could have made such a beautiful woman !
***** wait you're saying THAT can be TAUGHT?
Omg...didnt know this level of singing was humanly possible even tough she is 'the voice' its like no one could ever come close to this kinda perfection, her voice often resembles musical instrument, thats how on point she is
This is not lip synched!! It's so easy to hear it's her live voice. But I get why people would assume as such because it's that good!!
Even the angels in heaven probably have trouble topping her voice
Powerful.
this though...
Yes
The angels are in a class of their own. ;-) They are a different class of creation.
But as far human class, sub-division women goes, she's right up there.
It is really NOT that deep of a comment. Calm down.
The greatest singer of all time.
miss cissy is giving me life when she said sing baby and those yessssssssssss
Masterclass in singing!
The way Cissy looks at Whitney is just a look of complete pride.❤️
Cissy's happy smile and the way she looked at Whitney brought tears to my eyes. She loved her daughter so very much, she was so proud of her. It's so sad the way Whitney's life went down. I cannot imagine the pain and anguish that it had brought upon Cissy's loving heart but I feel for her deeply.
It’s so impressive.. The silent vibrato and all is just amazing.
Cissy was like, yes she did that, She got that from me 😌
Cissy's grins of pride for her daughter are just the sweetest thing.
Her voice sounds like an angel this is why she is my favorite vocalist of all time because she embodies every emotion that she is singing.
Amen
Not lip syncing. So many talented performers have been lost to us. I think she was phenomenal.
It's not always about screaming and mixing A5sss. It's the technique and tone that's very important. Whitney's vibrato is impeccable
I cry every time I watch this video. A true God given talent, and truly missed. Love you Whitney!!!
Not only the fact her tone was the best ever..but her voice had so much charisma..best ever no doubt..
A vocal genius. This is my favorite performance by Miss Houston. She had everything I could ask for in a singer... The tone, agility, power, control, soul etc... Just perfect. She'll always be the greatest singer of all time to me. RIP
She sings with her soul. I'm not a fan of gospel music, but this feels so warm. She should have stayed in this niche.
She always did gospel songs on her tours and plus she used all background in gospel to sing different genres…..
This seems so unreal, how can someone sing a song like this so perfect....and the placement and control of her belts are impeccable
She also taps her mic to keep control. She was well aware of what she was doing while singing. A true professional.
Always
Yessss!! A “Musicians Singer” 🙌🏽
@@marcusward5871 It honestly astounds me. I really don't have words for Whitney's voice. She was TRULY the best singer that ever lived.
My apologies to those who bring up other names when listening to this true greatness, but it's just embarrassing so please don't. No one can touch her.
AMEN!!!!!!!
