The tips: 1. start a new bank account (Monzo bank account) 2. plan your budgetting in Excel 3. shop at Aldi/Lidl 4. buy Tupperware and save extra food for later 5. split food with flatmates 6. go shopping once a week 7. don't overpay on drinks on a night out 8. get a 16-25 railcard 9. take the slow train to save money 10. avoid spending money on transport (go by foot) 11. get a job to earn money
I think getting a job is hard coz of the limited time you have and it cuts on study time. I suggest working from yr11 to yr13 and save so in ur first year you can be good to go as for the rest u can get an on campus job
@@thhtech it's not for every student but it's a good idea for many, to have a part time job. Personally I don't work this semester but I will do part time when I have less intense courses other semesters
Thanks for the tips! Something I always do when clubbing is only take the cash I’m willing to spend and never take my card, with your card you can just keep spending money without thinking about it (especially when drunk!) whereas if you just take cash you can’t spend more than you have on you x
I opened a second bank account after my first paycheck arrived, now I have one account where my budget for the month goes to and with which I pay rent, food, etc and the other account just gets the money I earned and don't necessarily need, money gifts, collected change, stuff like that. With the second account I then pay for vacations, a fridge, stuff like that
me at uni trying to do a cheap food shop vs me being gluten free where two GF cupcakes are the same price as six normal ones. also this video is super helpful! going to uni this year is scary since there’s a good chance of not being able to get a job during the recession
I'm going to uni in September. Some really helpful tips. I'm going to have to make meals to take to work on days I have work because I won't have time from lecture to work time to eat.
Here in Slovakia students have the advantage of taking any train for free, but you obviously have to have a student id. This is super useful if you live relatively close to your uni and you want to save some money as well.
Sachin Sharma, bio and chem: do past papers then revise the areas where you drop marks. maths: i mostly just did exam style questions from the textbooks but then did practice papers closer to exam season. focus on the topics you’re worse at and avoid falling into the trap of revising what you’re good at because it makes you feel better. (I got A* A* A with the A in maths for reference)
also another tip: sometimes when you get a part time job at a restaurant you can get cheaper food (or they might even provide one meal (for exemple dinner, if you work late))
I worked at a Mexican fast food place and got 50% off when I worked and 30% off friends and family. Also, they let me take home fountain drinks and chips for free, sometimes even an entree.
for aussie students, CBA has a pretty good app where you can manage all your finances, so you can check your account whenever you want, plus, it's free to create an account.
I would recommend getting monzo and a student bank account cos the perks that convential banks have are also really good. For example santander give you a railcard
@@albabjigarandrabi3166 yes that is exactly what I do. Although note that your Santander one has a minimum £500 pay in per term. So I would recommend using both. Maybe use Santander for rent and big payments and Monzo for smaller payments where budgeting is necessary?
I suggest waiting until second or third year, before you start sharing food with housemates. You’ll find people take advantage if you do not know them well enough and over-eat/under contribute.
hi, girl! i have just come across your channel and I'm so glad because you seem super wise, you give away awesome tips and you are insanely pretty 😍 subscribed! x
Hi, I just came from your alevel results video and I was wondering if your biology came back as an A* from being remarked? Im in a similar situation atm X
heyyy i love you soo much and the content you make :) can you please tell me what camera you use for vlogging? I really want to start my own vlogging series and love the shots you make
I just want to warn you about Monzo when I was looking into getting it, it was loads of reviews of people saying they have lost loads of money through it. 13% of people gave it a bad review which is not great it’s 1 in 10 people.
Thank you for all these tips, especially the ones about job. I agree with you, working while studying may be difficult, so it would be better to work during holidays. However, I have a question about shops. Some sources say that supermarkets are more expensive than local shops, but others claim the opposite. Which option is really the cheapest then ? Thank you!
Tbh u have to shop around in the area where u live, it varies. For. A supermarket u cns be paying for the convenience. But at the same time own brand products can mean its cheaper
this was really interesting and helpful, ive been thinking a lot recently about getting a job but idrk if i could manage both that and school at the same time. if anyone has any tips id be grateful
I know ur asking her but I think you should get a student bank account (cos there are lots of perks such as a free railway card) and monzo(good for budgeting like she said). Sometimes you can transfer your current account to a student one if it is the same bank. If not then you could keep both or close one it doesn't really matter because having more than one won't harm you. Like you can just not use your old account but keep it open.
i just have a question on whether monzo works in other countries because I am currently doing a gap year in Thailand before i go to Edinburgh and I would like to use it to budget this year. also this was very helpful so thank you sm!

Also Santander 123 student current account gives you a free 4 year railcard!!
Do you know if it’s £100 cash or if it’s in a gift card eg) Amazon?

Here in Slovakia students have the advantage of taking any train for free, but you obviously have to have a student id. This is super useful if you live relatively close to your uni and you want to save some money as well.
in edinburgh, they have bus passes where you can put £x amount of money on it and use it whenever. So it lets you set aside money for travel
needed this! london budgeting is no joke
Love your videos it’s nice to see content that can actually make a difference in people’s lives
Another tip is to try getting the coach instead of the train, it takes much longer and not as convenient but it is MILES CHEAPER
