I have always loved the Extra 300.
I’m 14 and I’ve been flying for 6+ years. I’ve taught myself how to fly 3D and how to fly 3D helis. This hobby is amazing

Just ordered mine this morning. Since March 15, 2020, I started with Carbon Cub S+, then built a big Hangar 9 Carbon Cub, then a T-28 Trojan 1.2, now this Extra 300. Does Ali make housecalls to California?

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a perfect plane for me right now. Looking to advance my 3D skills , and don't want to trash my beloved irreplaceable MiniFuntanaX I have been flying for years. Or any of my other "classic" discontinued balsa's.
I love eflite in general. I got into the hobby at the beginning of the year. I now own 9 of your range, including the f15. (Exceptional machine with a weak edf unit, mine has lasted 1month, my friends 1 and a half..) your parts availability over here in the uk though is incredibly poor. I am presuming it’s all Covid related but I had an 4wk wait for a new fuselage for my viper. Also the build quality is leaving somewhat to be desired. The f15 nose landing was half prepped in the factory and the joining bit had to be drilled through the small grub screw, my v900 canopy doesn’t seat properly, the gps on my carbon cub nearly resulted in a broken plane. Oh and my blade 230s hadn’t been calibrated correctly from factory resulting in the heli needing repair after trying the “panic button” to see if it worked.

will be nice to know what dual rates and expo they are running in this video. also battery type weight and placement. I just bought this plane and have yet to maiden it. Can't wait though...
This plane is an interesting one to land because it bounces a lot but that’s my only complaint otherwise it’s an awesome airplane defiantly put something on the wing tips like a piece of wood I took a Home Depot paint stirring stick and just glued it to the wing tips and then shape it to the curve of the wing leaving like an 1/8th of an inch for a drag tip because when the wing drags concrete or asphalt it takes a lot of foam off
Going from a twisted hobby profile or full fuselage EPP 3D plane would be the next step I take before this plane if I were to start from the beginning. Twisted Hobby EPP 3D planes are practically indestructible.
Do you reckon this would be a good plane to start aerobatics on?
Very fun video guys. I like the laid back style and presentation. I'm enjoying my Extra 300 3d. Any hovering advice? I'm having a tough time locking in that "sweet spot" as you mentioned.
I think the later models have less gyro gain so don't fight you on the controls as much. Also if you have a larger battery or have added weight to the front in an attempt to get the recommended 90-100mm CG, it won't want to hover as easily. Having max rudder and elevator throw helps as would going to 3s 2500-3000 with a 14 x 5-7 prop as you will get more prop wash and longer flight times. You could run a 14 x 4-5 prop on 4s but you'd have to keep an eye on flight times and ESC temp.

I would learn 3D on a plane like the Twisted hobby Crack Yak before you flew this plane..

Would the Extra 300 be good for sport, aerobatic flying - aerobatics including knife edge, slow roll, and maybe flat spin but not the extreme 3d stuff ?
Yes
If it can do extreme 3D you can do everything else out there. It's got a really nice symmetrical airfoil. You might want to consider getting something like a crack yak or a MX2 for learning they are practically indestructible.
