Whale Impact & Entanglement Test

With the increasing prevalence of offshore aquaculture systems, NAHL is heavily involved in research to better understand the quantitative effects of whale impacts/entanglement. Ultimately, tow-tank testing can be used to design more whale-friendly offshore systems, minimizing any adverse environmental effects of such systems. This is a faculty-sponsored research effort. A submarine model was converted into a whale prototype and tested in NAHL's 120 FT Towing Tank.
