EN458 Planing Hull Seakeeping Test - 17 Degree Trim Tab

This experiment was performed in NAHL's 380 FT Towing Tank for EN458 (Advanced Marine Vehicles), an elective course for 1/C (senior) midshipmen. A high-speed planing craft outfitted with adjustable trim tabs was tested at varying speeds (in a fixed series of waves). With the trim tabs adjusted to 17 degrees, the hull-form is much more stable/controllable than when the trim tabs are set at 0 degrees.
