The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Jimmy Dean is an incredible man of integrity cause Jim offered him a fortune of the Muppets and Jimmy outright denied it cause he said he didn't do anything to help the Muppets and their success. A man like that is a rarity these days.

Jim Henson seems to really love that "herd of cows" routine. He did it twice on _The Muppet Show,_ once with Rowlf on a Veterinarian's Hospital sketch.

Dean's ABC series ended a three year run in 1966. It was really where the Muppets came to national attention.
This was actually the final time Rowlf and Jimmy Dean ever appeared together.

Premiered on Sunday, June 20, 1948. Last aired on Sunday, June 6, 1971. Ed Sullivan originally planned to want the show to run until late June 1973. Ed Sullivan did come back to Host a 25th Anniversary Ed Sullivan Show Special in June 1973. I really believe Ed Sullivan definitely still would have retired hosting the show in June 1973 following the 25th year after it's premier after his Wife's death in March 1973 even if CBS didn't cancel the show in the Spring 1971.

Next Sunday, June 6, 2021 will be the 50th Anniversary of the Final Airing of the Ed Sullivan Show on CBS on Sunday, June 6, 1971. Both Dean's series and the Ed Sullivan Show should have run longer than they did. Ed Sullivan wanted his show run into it's 25th complete year into June 1973 after Toast Of The Town premiered in June 1948 but the CBS jerks replacing it with a Sunday Night Movie Of The Week cancelled the show in the Spring 1971 without new big hit music acts planned to appear in it's 24th season in the Fall 1971 such as Three Dog Night, The Osmonds, Carole King, James Taylor and likely Rod Stewart performing his new No. 1 U.S. Hit Maggie May that season.
