Ren openly admits that he is also part of the "Money game". He even says in this song when he is in the wheelchair "this story is an exagerrated version of me, its a version of he, it's a version of she and its a version of you". Basically the video is a criticism of the system and human natures pursuit for money and greed, but still being self aware enough to know that he and everyone is a part of this system in some way. The message is to be aware of this so it doesn't corrupt you and so you do not become a version of Jimmy in the story.
Ren also did that money game treasure hunt puzzles for 7 sins and gave his fans 1000 dollars for each day for a whole week. Saying on his stream; "It would be awkward and not genuine for me to put this out without giving something that is mine. It would just feel wrong for the message I am trying to deliver." He sooo did not need to do that. You should have seen amount of effort he put in those puzzles and also the videos he made for them.
Ren isn't demonising people who are rich and famous though. He is trying to get the point across that if you oppress or harm the people below you on your way to your riches, not caring about anyone but yourself, then it is wrong.
Ren spoke with Knox this week about how he felt that last year, before he started seeing commercial success, he crowd sourced to be able to pay for his extensive medical treatment in Canada that has taken all of this year, 5 days a week, eight hours a day, with two weeks in L A to see friends and cut an acoustic. He was so happy now to be fortunate enough to pay for his own treatment from his sales this year. He has no label, he's completely independent. He wrote & composed all in this video and produced it himself with his own team/friends, as he always does. Check out the 14 day Money Game using the 7 deadly sins that had its finale two hours before his album dropped last Friday. At the very least watch the final episode. Rika Shae did great synopsis every day on his channel. Ren's taking the rest of the year to extend treatment before returning to the UK. The Knox Hill interview was nice to see
The biggest compliment given here is the assumption it's transitions and not a 1 take. Shows how good this 1 take actually is. I would love to know how many 1 take attempts this took! It's superbly choreographed
Apparently, according to Ren…there is actually one cut, as the camera swings behind the wheelchair which they reluctantly had to include for practical purposes, because they had to do the last part with the rain just once and get it right as they didn’t have time to do a second take (as the ground and the suit would have to dry - it’s the only posh suit Ren has made specially for the shoot - and Ren needed to be back in Canada for treatment, and the costs of the place and equipment etc…). I suspect but no proof that they may have included the other bits that certainly /could/ have hid cuts just in case they needed to splice together different takes - but Ren assures us, just the one cut.
Oh and apparently - Ren I think said it was something like 17 takes for the first part and maybe 5 for the end part (I may have misremembered the exact numbers but it was something like that) - with the last parts stopping before the rain bit on all but the one take to the end.
"One thing I feel weird is when one person going after money and fame goes after people going after money and fame". Bro, Ren literally agreed with you before you went on your spill. He said, "This song is exaggerated versions of me, and it's a version of him, and it's a version of she, and it's a version of you. There is no escaping the blame. The way we live is parastic fuck the money and fame". He is literally talking about how is part of this. Right before you call him a hypocrite for going after people who do that. Which... Is kind of funny lol. Other than that though awesome reaction!
Yeah Scru missed the ball on this one, partly cause he wasn't paying attention for lots of it. Especially in the opening few minutes just talking about his setup and his show that night. Don't bother reacting to stuff if you're not gonna pay attention lol
He calls himself out in this song . Did you completely miss that? He did not leave himself excluded from this. When he sits down in the chair and they start playing the instruments, the very first thing he does is call himself out then others

I was hopeing you were going to react to this. Always appreciate your honesty and take on Rens music videos. I think if you watched Money Game 1 and 2 its made a lot clearer that Ren admits and says he is part of the money game as we all are but knowing you are part of something doesn't mean he thinks its right but its a system that we are all part of. He wants there to be a better way and is trying to help others see that the system is rigged and hopefully help bring gbaout some level of change or balance… what ever that may be. Again he has said in Live Streams that he also doesn't know what the answer is but thinks that if we all work together we as a collaboration of like minded people can find a solution that could work. If he can use if fame and money he gets from it to help with his medical bills and health and spreading truth and honesty then I think that's amazing. Thanks for anther excellent reaction nd take on this. 👍
@ScruFaceJean I think someone is using an account to pretend to be you and might be using it to scam. Asking people to DM on Telegram. Just thought you should know. …Hope it wasn't you 😆 as I just reported it. my bad if it was really you man.
It was like listening to someone being given the answer to a question, then saying I know the answer and repeats the same answer as if it were there own but doesn't realize it.
It's not just cut to look like a one take, it is a one take. And he does say he is huge part of the money game. Its the first thing he says "he is an exaggerated version of me" :)
Great reaction. I think you got a little caught up on an idea of fame when the direction of the video was more of a look into the greed for money and power. People can chase money and make that pursuit their only goal and still not be rich. Its a human problem and this video serves more as a cautionary tale.
The bars just before you went into your 'critique' has say "this story is an exaggerated version of me" and then follows it up with everyone. Ren has always talked about, especially in the Money Game series how he and everyone are part of it. His issue is when the desire for money causes people to cause harm to themselves, others, the world etc
Ren admits his involvement in the game. But there is a difference between chasing fame and it being a consequence. Do you make art for money or is that money just a consequence of your merit. Ren, is a bard, in my eyes at least.
I don't think he was saying being famous or even trying to get famous was the problem but the fact that so many people put it first and foremost above everything else, even if it means going against who they actually are as a person, was the problem.
Loved the reaction as always. I don't get the sense that Ren's point is that chasing money or fame is *the* problem, it seems more to me like he's saying setting those things as the most important aspect of our lives or even our wider culture is the problem. I haven't watched either of the other two Money Game videos though, so maybe I'm off.
@@garysherwin3316Yeah, it's about pursuit of money to the detrement of others and taking more than you need when everyone around you is hurting and in need.
I think you’re missing his point. He includes himself in the money game. He does that in other songs. It’s about influence for him and social awareness of how we are all about the money game
Bro, you don't just get it. Ren is not here for making money. He is here to make to a difference. I know it's hard to get. I can see from your reaction
SCRU FINALLY BACK ON REN!🎉 I hope you've heard parts 1 and 2. Can we look forward to more Ren breakdowns from Mr Scru?🙏 Oh, god, please start with parts 1 &2, then look at this again. It'll hit SO much harder. Bro, if you haven't even listened to Ren since yoyr last reaction, you have no idea how much fire you've missed out on.
Don't mistake motivation and intent with someone being self serving and going for fame. Ren would have the same message because that's who he is. He hasn't cultivated a persona because an record label has a marketing department that says " we need a Beyoncé" or "people are really into young girls atm". He's totally independent and therefore is able to control his own narrative. He's not manipulating his audience, he's offering them a chance to come along. The hard truths held in his work would be viewed more likely to repel consumers by record companies as they go against their own held value system. Just because someone deems their own message important enough to want to make art in the first place, Ren is still humble, and this alone will lead you to the importance of motivation and intention. If you think that Ren is going for fame, that is a projection of yourself on what you deem popularity to mean.
And, I don’t think Ren is going for money and fame. He listed his new album at the lowest price he could. He also was sure to give away his own money during the 7 sins money game he played because he didn’t feel like it was right for him to not offer his own money up. Maybe he’s looking for fame, as far as reach goes, though. FWIW, he’s been making fantastic music and videos for over 10 years with comparatively few views and money until this past year when Hi Ren took off.
All that being said, great reaction, and I do agree with you on your points about folks with money and fame denigrating folks looking for those things.
Love your content and perspective. I will say I don't think everyone does this for "fame". Yes, they love it and they've found a way to do what they love to make an living so they don't have to do the basic 9-5 office job. I think you can want that and also not necessarily want to be famous.
I think he did a great job of showing how the father’s advice, which started out fine, eventually became toxic. It’s as much about how our parents affect us as it is about greed.
Thank you, I really appreciate your take on the video and the message. I also appreciate you pointing out that the optics can be a bit weird, but also that two things can be true at the same time. 💯
Ren wants to share his thoughts and art of course. He don't want to leave people alone with their fears and thoughts, I adore every musician that dares to speak the truth, like Hopsin, Nf, Ren, Kontra k...
This is actually one take and even recorded, not lip synced. You can see the mics at points. Also, the point of these tracks is not to vilify the people pursuing success, but more the system which remediates people to disregard the human side of life
Ren recently dropped a lyric video to Seven Sins. That song is something else. All self produced, of course. Don't worry, he hasn't become more religious. It is pure fire. Only one cut in this one, to move the Mike before the string quartet. You can see his jacket providing the blackout. Live vocal, heavily balanced out afterwards. Ren acknowledges that he is chasing fame. He clarified that especially when he realised that he could get the No 1 record in the UK. But as others said, even in this video he mentions that Jimmy is an exaggerated version of himself, that we are all still playing the game. He has no clue how to stop it, he only calls us out to try to find a solution together.
Scru, you need to react to Ren - Seven Sins off the new album. Its my favourite one off the album and it really shows off his rapping/writing and producing skills. Hes an animal on it.
Mad respect to you brother. I know the Ren fans can be a bit ... hyper. The fact you react to it all shows you love of the game. Also, with the exception of one smart edit right before the water starts, this was one take.
This is about a system. A system is designed and maintained. Once you recognise that you have to take responsibility and not scapegoat individuals or yourself. Instead take responsibility for the consequences of that system. Look around . What do you see? This is a critique and a perception shift. We are all a part of the money game. Wake up brother. ❤
Enjoy your honesty. You always speak straight 👍 I saw it as Ren talking about the fat cats, the people on top, the politicians. The ones who lust after more and more to the point they really don't care who or how many suffer. Money bestows power, power becomes addictive, and like any addiction, it's always abused. I saw the gun ending as a metaphor - Ren's 'solution' is to put an end to it. To end division, to work together and put an end to this system. After all, as he says, it's all an invention. We helped make it and so we can change it. Money, politics, division. It can all change if we all stand together
i loved this reaction, and agree with your take that there is some hypocrisy in an artist doing something like this, but ren himself has said that he knows he is also part of this money game. there was 1 subtle cut before the strings section ren said as he only had 1 suit to wear so it could only get wet once haha. you are also right that a song like this could sound preachy if not done right, and like you also said by having the context from the start it wasnt just a simple 'money bad' narrative. the video is the best i seen from ren (and sam the videographer and the whole team - think there was around 30-40 people involved in its making) which is by far the largest budget and production team that he has ever had so far. As a piece of art i put this alongside Hi Ren (have not decided which i prefer yet, both are top notch !!)
He's not talking about ambition, he's talking about greed. He says we're all part of the money game, and we are. It's all about balance. Being famous isn't the issue, but always wanting more and more and more, never being satisfied, is. Putting yourself above others, stepping on others to get ahead -- that. Empowering systems that promote such greed is the problem -- which is the business of most if not all governments and multi-national corporations these days. Ren is talking about re-aligning our culture, to orient ourselves differently, to drop the every-man-for-himself toxic individuality that is the hallmark of modern society (in the USA, anyway, where I live) and realize we're all connected, we'll all go down with this ship or rise with a new tide.
Ren is literally saying he’s a part of it. “This is real life.” It’s a story about everyone. He’s not denying what he has. He condemning it even though he has “everything he wants”
Way off the mark bro Rens an independant artist with no RECORD CONTRACTs or MANAGMENT! Any money thatRen makes goes into his art and his medical treatment, its not cheap spending a year in Canada for an autimmune defiency illness! And anyway the point of the money game series is that WE ARE ALL PART OF THE MONEYGAME!
It wouldn’t matter if he was making millions off of an amazing record contract. He is also playing the money game, even though he sees the evil it causes. That’s the point. He says in the song that this story is an exaggerated version of everyone. We can point out terrible things in our society, while still participating in it. The two party system in America is terrible for America. Many people know this, but they still vote for one of those candidates, because third party candidates can’t win the presidency. It would be silly to demean someone for yelling about the flaws in the system, even though they participate in that system.
One of the points Ren is trying to make is that Jimmy's dad obviously valued the pursuit of money over his own's child's happiness and no matter what accomplishments Jimmy had or amount of money he made, it was never enough for his father. Jimmy was so obsessed with trying to get his dad's approval and love he never developed any true connections with people. He had no one when his dad died and Ren made that clear when he said Jimmy had a moment of passion with a prostitute. Humans aren't meant to live like that. We aren't that much evolved from the caveman days when they had to depend on each other for survival so we're still wired to need each other but we're getting our dopamine hits more and more through social media likes and bank deposits and less and less from seeing someone else's eyes light up because of something we said or did. The increase in people with mental health problems shows that we're trending in the wrong direction and moving further away from what we really need and what would feel more natural to us.. I'm guilty as fuck in all this too and Ren got me thinking a lot about changes I need to make in my own life. ✌️&❤️
I'm sure somebody's commented this but they did have a 5 year old but Ren being who is ended up making it so that he wasn't there so long doing all of it because it was so hot so many takes. He's still let him be involved to begin with and get the experience
Scru as others have pointed out here - what you thought you were talking about as a critique of ren… you’re exactly making THE point what he saying in the song And in the whole series the money game!! ….that it’s “a part of you and a part of me and of us” and us all!!! It’s the priorities that are fucked up and that we prioritizing the money, however, we all are a part of it!💯‼️. We are all inextricably linked to it! It is exactly this paradox that is the tale of the song and the Money Game ‼️‼️💯💯🔥🔥💔💯‼️ (PS. Tom MacDonald is not a panderer - he has his own lane ans style and place where he gets right to the point and says he speaks the truth that at least half of the country of us feel and what the world needs to hear!!!!! ❤ Tom - you probably haven’t listen to his recent tracks office new album the Brave 2 with Adam and nova rapping hard!! (DARE YOU TO React to ‘Chrome’) 🔥🔥 #HOG
Ren isn't even saying money, and being rich is a bad thing. It's the greed and obscene wealth and the pursuit of it all that is. He can't say enough throughout the money games that he is doing the same. And that is the whole point and message of this. What he is saying is that we like to blame others when we are all hypocrites, including him. But if we actually are aware of it we 'may" be able to collectively change our midsets and figure out a way to make a change to improve things. Not burn down existing systems, but make it fairer and 'less' about greed power and fame.
I'm from the UK Scru and I've been trying to get someone to react to a Chinchilla song called Demand Respect for weeks now and no one has yet,. It's an awesome song, my favourite by her and it deserves more ears and a few reactions. So you know, if you wanna know what the UK wants, there's what at least one of them wants. Lol
You cant book ren cause he is ill mate , he aint in it for the money else he would have sold out , he is independent and he deserves everything that comes his way mmm he is doing this because he is talented enough andd it gives him an escape ,,, i think you talk for the way you think rather than the way others may think
You really should watch “Money Game” part 1 & 2, then rewatch part 3. You’ll see that Ren isn’t saying going for money or fame is bad, it’s more about greed. The point is about hurting those below you (and yourself) in the pursuit of riches and fame. He is aware that we are all a part of the money game to some degree, and admits he is part of it as well. He feels that we should come together and look out for each other. He stated that he wants to use his fame to help uplift others to bring about change.
you make a lot of good points but (I think you know this) he isn't demonizing fame or money as a whole - especially if you know his previous "Money Game" songs - it's about the system society has built around these topics
and he isn't saying he isn't a part of the problem. It's almost like an acknowledgement to the world we live in and people definitely don't create music talking about these things (along with the amazing videos Ren puts together.
I think one point he's making is that what we consider as virtues (working towards a goal, discipline etc) do not protect you from becoming a "villain". Added to this. I have a trader friend that deals with large sums of money. From experiences with his clients, he told me I'd be very surprised how quickly people stop thinking about what the money can do for them beyond being an arcade high score.
"Nobody on social media is not going for fame", this man is spitting facts (edit: I'm sloshed atm.) Love your reactions, Scru. The sheer experience in hiphop is an experience in itself.
The thing about musicians, some are trying to chase fame, the majority is, but there are people who don't care about that and just want to make music as their fulltime job, the fame that comes along is a bi-product that they have to accept. But I do see your point as well.
And his is example is exaggerated versions of me And it's a version of him, and it's a version of she And it's a version of you, there’s no escaping the blame.....The first words out of that line he admits he's part of the game.
Alot of your questions would be answered by parts 1 and 2. Just watching part 3 i think alot of people would have the same sort of feelings, you gotta see the journey tho not just the end, well done tho with the reaction big up ren. Love to all
Listening to your points at the end of the song all I can say is.. that is the problem when you start on something called "PART 3" and not spending 10 more minutes to do a proper reaction to all 3 parts ;)
I don't necessarily think he's just saying fame is the problem, but more the fact that we idolize people that are really no different than you or i, the fact that we treat celebrities like gods but treat our fellow average person like they are worth less simply because they have less
The difference with chasing money and fame from rens perspective is that all of us to an exaggeration that he states when hes in the wheelchair are brought up and nurtured now to care about no one else but yourself. If getting you money means affecting someone elses life negatively you do it. You take more than you need from the money pot and affect other people. The way ren is making money he isnt negatively impacting others. But the story around jimmy every move he made once he was an adult seriously affected the world and everyone in it negatively for his own pocket. It is the greed. its the selfish greed hes demonstrating that we are all pushed to be sheep towards. The leaders push for other leaders that arent selfless but can lie there way through.
Great reaction video, I was thinking same thing for the 5 year old, a little too big.. Good insights into the implied message and the hypocrisy inherint in social media
I watched Knox Hill interview Samuel Perry-Falvey, the cinematographer about this video. You can see the little boy during the rehearsal sitting on the floor and it was definitely a young boy and not a man. Also if you had watched Money Game part 1 & 2 then you would have understood this better.
Bro missed the part where he says and “his example is a exaggerated version of me, him, she, and you. There’s no escaping the blame the way WE live is parasitic.”
I don’t believe all of them are necessarily chasing fame.. but in this world, you need “fame” to get your message heard by everyone… I agree most get lost in the fame once they reach it. But I believe most of them starting out just wanted this voice and their “message” heard. Especially NF

I honestly didn't expect him to miss that whole line
Of course we don't want to end up like Jimmy, but imagine how he would have turned out if he had the right guidance.
I think he missed the point on this one. He seemed to have a preset thought before it even got going

Ren admits his involvement in the game. But there is a difference between chasing fame and it being a consequence. Do you make art for money or is that money just a consequence of your merit. Ren, is a bard, in my eyes at least.
Yeah, Ren is not demonizing fame or money. He just insists on perspective.
It's about money hoarding
@@garysherwin3316Yeah, it's about pursuit of money to the detrement of others and taking more than you need when everyone around you is hurting and in need.
I think you’re missing his point. He includes himself in the money game. He does that in other songs. It’s about influence for him and social awareness of how we are all about the money game
Bros completely missed the point of the son 😂
Bro, you don't just get it. Ren is not here for making money. He is here to make to a difference. I know it's hard to get. I can see from your reaction
What are you doing with your fame? Think about it, please?
SCRU FINALLY BACK ON REN!🎉
I hope you've heard parts 1 and 2.
Can we look forward to more Ren breakdowns from Mr Scru?🙏
Oh, god, please start with parts 1 &2, then look at this again. It'll hit SO much harder.
Bro, if you haven't even listened to Ren since yoyr last reaction, you have no idea how much fire you've missed out on.
On Wren's page he will show you how he does the whole thing in one take it is not multiple takes it is one take.
I feel like he is taking the fame and changing things ❤
NF out here catching strays…
He actually makes you have empathy for jimmy at the end , being a product of his surroundings😊
I already had empathy for Jimmy. His dad was an ass.
Great reaction! I think the sack over his head is like a money bag, and him taking it off is like him coming out of the spell of the money game.
Also, his dad said “money is a means to ALL ends,” not a means to AN end
"his visuals be havin bars" goddamn that's a good one.
I’m just at the point where the strings come and in enjoying it so far, really interested to see your reaction to the ‘monologue’ part! Let’s go!
Ren wants to share his thoughts and art of course. He don't want to leave people alone with their fears and thoughts, I adore every musician that dares to speak the truth, like Hopsin, Nf, Ren, Kontra k...
Great reaction and insight, to me the message is clear, we can all do more and be better, thank you and much love 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
^^^Hey Fam. You Won 👍
You always speak straight 👍
I saw it as Ren talking about the fat cats, the people on top, the politicians.
It can all change if we all stand together
he litrally said its a version of him! funny how your critism came after he said we all play a part, like you dont like being told you are part of it!
Great reaction man! Your brother didn't see the ending the same way
i loved this reaction, and agree with your take that there is some hypocrisy in an artist doing something like this, but ren himself has said that he knows he is also part of this money game. there was 1 subtle cut before the strings section ren said as he only had 1 suit to wear so it could only get wet once haha. you are also right that a song like this could sound preachy if not done right, and like you also said by having the context from the start it wasnt just a simple 'money bad' narrative. the video is the best i seen from ren (and sam the videographer and the whole team - think there was around 30-40 people involved in its making) which is by far the largest budget and production team that he has ever had so far. As a piece of art i put this alongside Hi Ren (have not decided which i prefer yet, both are top notch !!)
Lol had to giggle when you’re like ok it’s getting a lil bit 👃🏻👃🏻
I’m thinking just wait…..it’s about to escalate very quickly 😂
Ren has stated in interviews that people like him, "let's be honest", do what they do because they thrive on the the attention.
Ren is literally saying he’s a part of it. “This is real life.” It’s a story about everyone. He’s not denying what he has. He condemning it even though he has “everything he wants”
This is part three, he has, and does in this song, that we're all a part of this money game.
That kid is not 5...lmao
I thought that I clicked on an old vid for a sec.
^^^Hey Fam. You Won 👍
Ren admits that he's part of the money game too, literally in this video.
You said it perfectly "two things can be true at once..." that is the nature of the beast.
Great break down of this one man!!! Also, this is indeed another one take video. Keep up the great videos!!
you make a lot of good points but (I think you know this) he isn't demonizing fame or money as a whole - especially if you know his previous "Money Game" songs - it's about the system society has built around these topics
and he isn't saying he isn't a part of the problem.
From experiences with his clients, he told me I'd be very surprised how quickly people stop thinking about what the money can do for them beyond being an arcade high score.
you are hands down the REALEST reactor on YT...NO DOUBT. Love you ALL OVER AGAIN.
🤣
Welcome home! Couldn't make the show though. GO bigg red!
More Ren please.
"Nobody on social media is not going for fame", this man is spitting facts (edit: I'm sloshed atm.) Love your reactions, Scru. The sheer experience in hiphop is an experience in itself.
He has said that money is a tool, and that we should use it for good. Changing the system with the wealth we accumulate
The thing about musicians, some are trying to chase fame, the majority is, but there are people who don't care about that and just want to make music as their fulltime job, the fame that comes along is a bi-product that they have to accept. But I do see your point as well.
And his is example is exaggerated versions of me
And it's a version of him, and it's a version of she
And it's a version of you, there’s no escaping the blame.....The first words out of that line he admits he's part of the game.
^^^Hey Fam. You Won 👍
Ren is the one bro ! And hell yea og set up!
your critique is exactly what the money game saga is about
Well done, my friend. Great review. I am subscribing.
>> THank you for being real !! ... WE dont have to agree 100 %
I don't think he's trying to say that chasing Fame is inherently bad but rather trading lives or your morals to get Fame and money is bad
Last I heard, REN was spending most of his money to pay for his medical treatment
Just the fact that you called Tom macdonald corny I move you 10000 times m
Ore. 😂😂😂😂
I mainly agree but I think there's a line with true artists and they don't cross it. that line is what's the number 1 goal making art or being famous.
you said it yourself.. it isn't the fame it is the message he wants to leave behind, I think he thinks he doesn't have much time left
I watched Knox Hill interview Samuel Perry-Falvey, the cinematographer about this video. You can see the little boy during the rehearsal sitting on the floor and it was definitely a young boy and not a man. Also if you had watched Money Game part 1 & 2 then you would have understood this better.
^^^Hey Fam, You Won 👍
Bro missed the part where he says and “his example is a exaggerated version of me, him, she, and you. There’s no escaping the blame the way WE live is parasitic.”
Would love to see your take on the tale of Jenny and screech. It’s a three part series Ren put out and it’s wild
I don’t believe all of them are necessarily chasing fame.. but in this world, you need “fame” to get your message heard by everyone… I agree most get lost in the fame once they reach it. But I believe most of them starting out just wanted this voice and their “message” heard. Especially NF
Thanks for Passing The Energy
