The New York Times: "Here's a nice story about some friars in New York." RUclips Algorithm: "Well, it's been 12 years; about time we put it in Recommended."
I read a book about these friars written by Luc Adrian. I've read it 3 times. It's inspiring. Praise the Lord for their work and testimony to the world how Jesus can transform you and your life and life of the people He wants to help through you. Amazing.
I am at St. Anthony's 410 E.156th street, Melrose. I have been living here for 7 days. I love the structure, the friars are very nice. if I were younger, I would love to become to be a Friar. All the Best Shaun
Goodness. I am from the Bronx, a proud Rican-Italian, my family up from Banana Kelly and then Co Op, . . . .and you know what, I find it beautiful. I don't know why. Now that I am in Paris, I find the Bronx scapes genuine and full of hope and promise and good natured and good souled people. Not everyone, but there's a fair share of saints among the people.
So many memories. I built the clothing rack in the clothing room, I used black 3/4 inch piping after the old rack ripped away from the wall. I replaced all the furniture in the shelter. Got a really good deal on the couches from a store in the upper end of Harlem. Fr. Pio & I were classmates. Prior to him running the shelter it was Br. Peter, & before that, me. Now back home in NZ.
@oldsoul4762Thanks, you too. This Saturday we have an introduction day at Auckland’s Diocesan Centre where myself & 9 other candidates will assessed for entry into the permanent Diaconate. My twin who is also an ex- religious (& seminarian), has already started his permanent Diaconate studies in the next diocese over. They start their 4 year program a year ahead of Auckland. Prayers appreciated. 😊🙏
I'm a young woman still in the process of discernment, but I just want to say I so admire this Friary. It reminds me a bit of Mother Teresa and her work.. 🙏💕 service to Christ through service to the poor.. really beautiful work
I love this! Every video I see of the CFRs I watch it! I love them and their work for the Lord so much! It’s crazy to see Brother Isiah as a postulate in this video
all a bit of a good news story, devoid of the very real difficulties and dangers that the hrothers and bronx population actually experience. Very sanitized and patronizing.
Capuchins have been doing it for some 800 years now. The orthodox have been doing it for more than a 1000 years. Hipsters are the ones who look like monks.
They are obeying Christ's command to become eunuchs for the Kingdom of God and to sell all that they have and give to the poor. What the hell do you know?
Christ said, "The one who can accept this should accept it." That's not a "command". It's a SUGGESTION. St. Paul said "But if they can’t control themselves, they should get married, because it’s better to marry than to burn with passion." NOT A COMMAND. CALM YOURSELF.
I'm not the one having a nuclear meltdown because I think mendicant friars in the Bronx should actually be having wives and kids running around in the friary. Get over it. Celibacy is the highest calling.
skittlefrost Catholics like you who DONT KNOW THE BIBLE and don't PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH are burning in the HELL FLAMES of your own HYPOCRISY even in THIS LIFE. LIVE STRAIGHT OR BURN.

The only thing mother teresa did for women was tell them that contraception was a sin so go ahead and have children and let them starve to death isn't that wonderful
I will hopefully be joining these guys this summer, September 7, 2010. Please pray for me!

The Heavenly Father has blessed the friars of the South Bronx and may His blessings continue for years to come. Amen.

Thanks God for these monks who truly give their lives to the ones that really need help.

May Almighty God bless and preserve these holy Monks.
God bless you friars of the renewal 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Hope to meet all of you one day
I miss you all! I miss the BX, the center, everyone. So blessed for the few years I got to spend with you all!
Ngl I forgot that Paul J Kim (famous Catholic Speaker-now married) was discerning religious life with the CFR’s until I saw him😂

I've always loved this order
The one time The Times told the truth.
real american heros
Our prayers are with the CFRs.
LOVE those CFR guys!
Much respect to the Franciscans by way of San Francisco, Califas.
They really live the message of Christianity.
Four years later: this is a God-loving, generous group of men!
thank you for sharing - nice to see there is still a calling for religious brothers
one of the friars should show those kids how to use a pool stick!
Love you Brothers 💞💞💞💚
True christianity inspires the best in people
Wow just amazing
Cool

Righteous beards
The Beards of Awesome
They're all frats. Just a whole bunch of rich men that picked on lord Jesus. Now he gets to pick on them.

Most people don't really want to know about what it's like.
Plutão evangelos Gino ! God bless catholics on the planet
Teach the kids religion, math, and reading. Kids Kids graduating from government schools learn none of this.
:)
Wonderful guys doing God's work. Maybe trim the big weird beards a bit; brothers look too much like hipsters. Is there some rule about never shaving?
Michael Casey it's a Capuchin custom to grow out the beard and keep your hair short.
Capuchins have been doing it for some 800 years now. The orthodox have been doing it for more than a 1000 years.
Hipsters are the ones who look like monks.
Most friars and priests would make such GREAT DADS! Their CELIBACY RULE is a MISERABLE SHAME. These FAITHFUL MEN SHOULD MARRY AND RAISE FAITHFUL KIDS!
They are obeying Christ's command to become eunuchs for the Kingdom of God and to sell all that they have and give to the poor. What the hell do you know?

Of course they would make great dads. But they have chosen a chaste life in community so they can love the stranger as they would love their family.

Good luck with your discernment!
